Have you ever made love to a weirdo?
Current mood: chillaxed and hype at the same time
Category: chillaxed and hype at the same time Music

1. 5ive - "When The Lights Go Out"

This song still has to be one of the "hardest" boyband songs that came out during that era. No wonder they were my favorite boyband when I went through that phase. LOL

2. Brandy - "List"

That's right, Brandy. I don't wanna be on that list either!

3. Carol Riddick - "You Better Not Hurt Me"

(This is gonna be the theme song for whoever the next boo will be. LOL) Carol Riddick is no newcomer(she, along with Vivian Green, was one of Jill Scott's original back-up singers), but her album really did need way more promo than it received. Check it out.

4. Common ft. Pharrell - "Announcement"

Ooooh I kinda like this semi-new flow from Common. Can't wait til the new album drops.

5. Elephant Man - "Sesame Street"

I heard this at a reggae club years ago and as corny as it sounds, it is still my shit! Who else could make a hype dancehall track from the Sesame Street theme?

6. Flight of the Conchords - "Ladies of the World"

I am such a huge fan of the show, that I became a nerd and got the soundtrack. These guys are hilarious, and I'm so glad that they got picked up for another season.

7. Flo Rida - "Ack Like You Know"

I was actually very surprised at how much I liked Flo Rida's album. It's a decent rap album that isn't repetitive and more fun than hostile. LOL

8. Gym Class Heroes ft. Busta Rhymes - "Peace Sign"

Eventhough it was kinda unexpected, I think this was a very fitting and dope collabo between GCH and Busta.

9. Holly Weerd - "Have You Ever Made Love To A Weirdo?"

THIS IS MY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on a full project from these guys because I love the tracks that I've heard thus far.

10. Incognito - "I've Been Waiting"

Classic Brit jazz mixed with a some funk elements makes for an excellent album from this veteran group. Check out their latest, Tales From The Beach.

11. Jazmine Sullivan - "Need U Bad"

I'm so glad she's finally getting the shine she deserves. This chick might be young, but she's already a vet in the game, and there will be plenty more in store for her.

12. Jennifer Hudson - "Changed It All"

I actually love this song because J. Hud isn't overpowering us with her vocals. Instead she's just singing a simple song without losing her strong tone.

13. John Legend ft. Andre 3000 - "Green Light"

Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!! I'm still waiting on another Andre 3000 album though.

14. Kenna ft. Justin Timberlake - "Rockaway Life"

I swear this must be the list of unexpected collabos. LOL. I found this little gem a few weeks ago and I think it was a track that was left off of "Make Sure They See My Face", but they should've kept it on because this track is sick!

15. Morgan Heritage - "Raid Rootz Dance"

I'm more of a dancehall chick, but this track grabbed my attention because of the live vibe it has. This song would sound so dope in concert.

16. N.E.R.D. - "Anti-Matter"

Yep, still bumpin' this album.

17. Sara Bareilles - "Bottle It Up"

She's like a female Billy Joel to me. She's so catchy, yet simple and honest.

18. Stevie Wonder - "My Cherie Amour"

Y'all don't know how much I love this man. Y'all really don't.

19. Theo - "Sweetest Language"

He's a relatively known unknown on the indie scene, but if he keeps coming with tracks like this, he's gonna be very well known in the major music market.

20. Wayna - "Mr Duracell"

Another chick who needs more promo is Wayna. Her latest, "Higher Ground" is PHENOMENAL and her voice is so unique that you really won't get the chance to forget her music.

He gives me feeeeeeee-ver!
Current mood: slightly hot and hella thirsty
Category: slightly hot and hella thirsty Blogging

Inspired by one of Lady A's blogs. Thanks mamacita!

Fellas, I was gonna make this ladies only, but since the preferred list is all fucked up in the game, I'm gonna let y'all tell me which ladies you would give it to in the comments.

But for everyone else, you might wanna get something to cool ya down.

Where do I start?

Lately I've been thinkin' about men who give me fever. The ones who "make me feel good on the inside part" (c. Beloved) just lookin' at them. I don't have a specific type, so bear with me because this is gonna be hella random.

I've gotta start with my original boo, Craig David.

Sweet buttered roll...I could tear him up! He's so fine, and since I'm a sucker for international accents, all he'd have to do is say "Hi Bre'ana" and y'all wouldn't hear from me for a while.

Then Terrell Carter came along...

...and damn I must say. I blogged about him a while back and this man could STILL get it. I remember seeing him in a few Tyler Perry plays and then in one his movies and I wanna thank God and his mama everytime I see him.

Wipe Me DOWN!!!

Y'all know I love men with fashion sense, and it's so sad that I love me some shoe designing twins, but I absolutely adore Shane and Shawn of Detny designs.

Double my pleasure, double my fun, AND double my shoe collection.

Then while I'm watching football and cheering for my Titans and Niners, I still kinda look at the Cowboys and Texans for two reasons:

Marion Barber

and

Will Demps

Hold. My. Mule.

Sad thing is that I'm the chick who actually pays attention to the game, but these two are some distractions. Especially after they've made a big play and the camera zooms in on them while they're on the sidelines wiping themselves down...NFL season needs to hurry up and come back.

Speaking of sports, I can't forget my Italian husbands, the entire Italian National Futbol/Soccer Team.

(or part of the team will do.)

I don't know if I'd be able to work for any sports team over there. Things would get oh so scandalous.

Finally, the reason why I watch CSI:Miami, Adam Rodriguez.

Si papi, you could investigate my crime scene and find my clues ANYTIME!!!

Ok one more. I promise.

I lied.

.

I'm gonna have to stop myself because I'm definitely feeling like giving these men 2 snaps in a "Z" formation and thensome...

July 10, 2008 - Thursday

Thankfully I didn't run into that old pedophilin' ass R. Kelly...
Category: Travel and Places

So if you haven't already peeped the pics, I was here last week...

And I've been a few times before, but this time I was there to visit one of my best friends, Jasmine...

and to go back to the Taste of Chicago and claim some beloved Eli's Cheesecake.

My insides felt like this...

+

So I arrived late on Wednesday, and we got our day started on Thursday by immediately heading to the Taste which I hadn't been to in some years.

So much people and so much food, but the first thing I went straight to was Eli's. If you don't know, Eli's has the most delicious cheesecake ever, and I was reunited with my love in the form of frozen cheesecake dipped in chocolate and toffee. Thank you Jesus.

We walked around and ate more food (stuff like beignets, shark with some tomato sauce, and sweet potato hasbrowns), and then walked around downtown until we got back and got ready to go out.

As soon as we stepped out, we barely got 100 yds from the apartment building and I missed a step. I busted my knee and my hand, but like a trooper I changed into some jeans, put on some more heels, and kept the party rolling. LOL. Jazzy took me to this reggae spot that she goes to all the time, and I kid you not, with the exception of the exit sign and the bar, all I saw was this.

All I could do was hear. LMAO

The next day, she took me to this Afro-Caribbean fair that reminded me of the African Street Fest here in Nashville. My question: Why does almost every vendor sell shea butter and incense like the customer can't get it anywhere else? I'm just sayin'.

Also, why does incense have normal and awkward fragrance titles? Peep the pic.

There was also this guy selling a weight loss product, but what stood out about it was the fact that this man had the nerve to wear a hat with dreads attached.

LAME!

The jerk chicken on a stick wasn't lame though. Yummmm

After we did all that walking, eating, and shopping we went to the beach off the lake...

And then got ready to go get drinks and meet up with everyone and their mama...

(I made Jazzy buy that dress at the Afro-Caribbean fair. LOL)

(If you recognize 'em, you can probably tell that they were there.)

(Me and my girl Nekia Nichelle of Flair TV)

Then we went to this dope poetry set at Da Book Joint to see my girl Latrice.

The next day, I hung out with this dude...

My shit-talking buddy Ronnie (a.k.a.Everyone's favorite OneManGang) and I ate breakfast over many laughs and conversation about sports and random shit when it wasn't interrupted by (a) dirty coffee and a weird strawberry/orange juice combination with fruit cups and/or (b) the scorned cougars in the booth behind us who apparently have dated and/or known a guy with multiple strippers living in his house. Convo went like this...

Me: "Man, NBAtv is the worst when the season is off."

Ronnie: "I know man, I can't stand that nigga Rick Kamla from fantasy hoops. Who really wants to talk about...."

Cougar 1: "And I can't believe the nerve of him!"

Cougar 2: "Yeah he's already had one stripper living there. I wonder if the other stripper knows about her. Whore."

Me and Ronnie (at the same time):

After we had our laughs and food, we split and I went to a mall with Jazzy, and while we stopped to get directions at a pizza place, I saw this little gem across the plaza...

(Something is always wrong with an "express" version of Planned Parenthood.)

Sooooo after going to the mall, driving all over Chicago, and snacking we got ready to go out again for my last night there. First we stopped at Chili's since Jazz used to work there and got some really tall margaritas and daiqiuris with her former co-workers.

Then we went bar hopping like crazy. Any bar that we could into for free, we were there. And once the music was poppin'...

...and this was flowin'...

I was good to go.

I had a blast, but the sad part was after ALLLLLLLLLL of the many shots of Patron and that big ass daiquiri full of rum...I didn't even get a buzz. Nothing.

Oh well.

We went to the diner where I was more than ready to chow down on some breakfast food. Breakfast food always tastes THE ABSOLUTE MO'FUH'IN BEST in the middle of the night after liquor.

We stayed up the rest of the night, and Jazzy's apartment has a beautiful view of the lake, so at about 4 or 5 we went out to the lake to watch the sunrise.

(Y'all know I'm anemic and I get cold easily, so don't make fun of me wearing a hoody in July, damnit.)

And a few hours later, I was on the road again back to Nashville. Oh well. See ya next time Chicago.

(peep my Meez above doing the Carlton. LOL)

Y'all forgive me, but I'm on a Starby's Doubleshot high and I'm bored so here's some randomness.

1. America's Best Dance Crew is back! This season I can't decide who my favorite is yet, but I'm lovin A.S.I.I.D. and So Real Cru. I'm still on my campaign to be a female Jabbawockee though.

2. I was watching A&E (because I am a nerd ), and I got excited because there were back to back commercials advertising the new season of The First 48 and Paranormal State. My fanaticism is so bad that the last time I was in Memphis, I wanted to drive by the police headquarters and take a picture. Now that you know, DO NOT CALL ME WHEN THESE SHOWS ARE ON. Even during commercial breaks because I will hang up as soon as it comes back on.

3. I'm starting to believe that my niece was probably my daughter in a former life because she acts so much like me it's scary. She's talking a lot, she dances on beat, she's kind of a diva already, and she knows her music. She loves all types of music already (Rihanna, Guns 'n Roses, Marvin Sapp, & Outkast) and she can sing! I'll have to post a video of us doing the Ceephus and Reesie remix to the "Itsy Bitsy Spider".

4. Speaking of Ceephus and Reesie, I miss In Living Color. They need to do a reunion show or something. I'll volunteer to be one of the new Fly Girls.

5. I miss (fun and exciting) sports. I have nothing to watch. I mean baseball is ok (Go Cubs!), but it's not my favorite to watch. My Italian husbands were eliminated from the UEFA thing by Spain so I'm not even watching Euro Soccer anymore. Until next season in the Serie A guys... (yes that pic is only part of their national team.)

6. I'm gonna boycott the next person to freestyle over the "A Milli" beat. Everyone and their babymamas have made a song over the beat and officially murdered it. The beat is done folks.

7. I didn't watch the BET awards (or as Fresh calls it "The EBT Awards" LMAO), but I saw some of the performances online. No comment.

8. I'm blaming Ronnie for this one. We were talking about Shaq and his whackness and then Kobe, but then Ronnie reminded me of that whack ass song that Kobe performed ONCE with Tyra Banks' non-singin' ass. That shit had me . Peep the sparkly beenie he's rockin'. LMAO

9. Ladies, if you're gonna cut your hair be warned: it gets addictive because it's so easy to manage. I just cut mine again because of that...and I wanted to look my age again.

10. Y'all know that I have a fascination with foreign culture, but I have a confession: I love anything having to do with British comedy. Some people think it's offbeat, but I think it's hilarious. Here's a clip from one of my favorite shows "That Mitchell and Webb Look".

I'm not gonna post about the Imus thing because we all know and knew that he was full of bullshit. Period.

But I will talk about Shaq and his non-rappin' ass.

I'm no Kobe fan (and if you would've jumped on my Tim Duncan it would've been ON!), but come on dude. That shit was WHACK! I know you were trying to "diss"  and make Kobe sound bad, but that "tell me how my @$$ taste" line made you sound fruitier than a giant bowl of Fruit Loops. Didn't you learn from the whacktastic-ness of the Fu-Schnickens?

I'd rather listen to your rap from "Kazaam".

You so anti, don’t nothin’ matter...
Current mood: humorously entertained by the world
Category: humorously entertained by the world Blogging

1. I saw this on a shirt...

and thought it was the most ingenius shirt ever. If you want it too, cliquez ici.

2. Speaking of clothes, I have a couple of things to gripe about. (First let me apologize if this is anyone's cousin, sister, mama, BUT)When I was in Miami and at Club Bed, I saw this chick who clearly didn't have a mirror or friends to tell her what was wrong. So while I'm looking up the pics that me and my friends were in I found her pic...

and immediately thought of my favorite childhood book.

I'm just sayin'...

3. Also, men, gay or straight, if you consider yourself a man with a working penis don't wear shit like this...

Even the model looks pissed off.

4. The coonery with the custom chain pieces must stop. I stop this pic an ancient while ago, but I just saw it again, and yeah...

This shit must end ASAP.

5. Speaking of coonery, I have another reason why I can't stand BET: their new dating show The Boot. If you've ever seen it, you're honestly just left wondering...where do they get these people?!?!?!?!?! Watch it once and see what your reaction is.

6. Like my status says, I love my friends, and sometimes it's entertaining, but I am ALWAYS on the receiving end of a drunken and/or high phone call. Send a text damnit. LOL

7. Seeing as though me and my older sister are polar opposites (but we get along PERFECTLY in a weird way), I'm all for Team Little Sister, but sometimes celeb little sisters need to really just try too hard to do their own thing. Case in point: Solange Knowles. I've heard some of her leaked tracks and they're different, but the single and video she released is um...not that great. Honestly she should be different and get some out-of-the-family management.

8. I love me some Chef G. Garvin, but I must say that when I was at TSU's campus bookstore, I almost fainted laughing at the cover of his calendar. The back pic ain't bad at all, but the cover had me rolling.

9. Also, I used to love watching Tyler Florence for some odd reason when I was in high school, and then I caught the cover of one of his many books and hot damn.

Why is he looking so GQ carrying groceries? My friend Brea said about him "He could melt my butter AND boil my water." LMAO

10. My favorite show about crazy bitches is back for a new season. Bridezillas!

11. Finally, I love the summer because I get to just read for fun, and I've been reading a few books, but one of them, "Casanegra" by Blair Underwood with Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes is HAWT. It's a mystery novel, but the sex scenes definitely have my hormones going. I'mma need some chocolate on demand after reading this one. LOL

I'm on my corporate thuggin'...B-R-E...And til the day I die, that's the way it's gon' be.LOL
Current mood: breezy
Category: breezy Music

1. Anthony David ft. India.Arie - "Words"

I've been a fan of Anthony David's soulful folky songs and his gritty voice since his album "3 Chords and the Truth" was released years back, but I'm soooo glad that he's finally getting some mainstream shine.

2. Basement Jaxx - "Red Alert"

This is some really old, truly elderly, yet classic Jaxx that I had to pull out of the archives, but it's still hot after all these years.

3. Camp Lo - "Lumdi"

They're back. YAY!

4. Damian Marley - "There For You"

This is from his amazing album "Welcome to Jamrock" that dropped about 3 years ago. I originally bought it for the duet he had with Bobby Brown, but I was thoroughly surprised when I listened to the entire album. I'm not one for traditional reggae (I'm a dancehall chick through and through), but believe me when I say that this is one album that you need to buy and add to your collection.

5. Del Amitri - "Roll To Me"

I used to love this song when I was 10. LOL. It was quintessential mid-90s alt rock, and it's still cool to listen to now.

6. Disturbed - "Stricken"

Thank you Guitar Hero III for making me love this song. LOL.

7. Elvis vs. JXL - "A Little Less Conversation"

I have a special affinity for this song. Eventhough this was a pretty major dance hit in the U.S. when it came out, I have to give a little personal background story to this one. I went to a performing arts high school and since my major was dance, all of the classes performed at the end of the year. Senior year comes and believe me when I tell you that my advanced tap class did the dopest tap piece EVER to this track. Don't doubt the skills.

8. Enur ft. Natasja - "Calabria 2007"

I will admit to being clueless for a while on this one because I heard it in clubs, on the radio, and on a Pitbull track, but I COULD NOT find the name of the song. Finally after hearing it everywhere in Miami, I came home, downloaded it, and now I'm sharing it with you guys.

9. Lil Wayne ft. Robin Thicke - "Tie My Hands"

First of all, can I be the first to say that Robin Thicke has THEEEEE sexiest speaking voice on this track? Secondly, this is the most honest and sincere that I've heard Weezy, and it just goes to show how versatile he can be.

10. N.E.R.D. - "Sooner or Later"

I'm seeing sounds and I'm lovin' it. Get the album y'all.

11. Ne-Yo - "Closer"

I don't care what any of y'all say. I love Ne-Yo and his unihibited style. This shit makes me bouncy everytime I hear it, so whoever rides with me when this song is playing should be prepared to be embarassed.

12. Nicolay and Kay - "Dancing With The Stars"

If you haven't copped the album after I told you about it the last time, you should be shamed.

13. Noel Gourdin - "Sorry"

I've been in love with this man and waiting for his album since I saw him open up for Goapele 2 years ago. He is simply amazing, gorgeous, and knows how to work a crowd. Mr. Gourdin is a true talent and he's exactly what real R&B is missing right now.

14. Rick Ross ft. Trey Songz - "This Is The Life"

Yep, I'm still stuck on this album. It won't last as long as the Purple Rain phase I went through last year. I promise.

15. Ruff Endz - "Someone To Love You"

This has got to be the sweetest song by a group with a literally rough name. LOL. Still makes me go "Awwwww" after all these years.

16. Sugar Jones - "How Much Longer"

Back in the day when I had Much Music and I was exposed to wonderful Canadian artists, I was definitely stuck on Sugar Jones. They were the winners of a reality show, but they were still good. Also one of the chicks is married to Remy Shand. (Remember the soulful little white dude? "Take a message from my love...Take a messaaaaaage")

17. Switchfoot - "Meant To Live"

This was a mega crossover Christian hit from a while back that's still relevant today. Plus the instrumentation is unmatched.

18. Tevin Campbell - "Come Back to the World"

Yes, Tevin. Get off Broadway and come back to the world of music. LOL. I love this song, and the fact that Rahsaan Patterson wrote and sang backup makes it that much hotter.

19. U.S.D.A. - "Corporate Thuggin' "

This song should've been more heavily promoted than it was last summer because this is still my shit and I can rap it backwards and forwards. The beat is what gets me. Eventhough its simple, it's a quintessential Southern banger.

20. Wale ft. Skyzoo - "The Hacksaw Jim Duggan"

I like how they traded off 4 bars a piece (Wale citing wrestler Hacksaw Jim Duggan carrying a 4x4, but he really carried a 2x4. Can't fool the wrestling fanatic. LOL), but the bassline is what makes the song.

Let's Tell The Truth Pt.1: Weeeeee can’t be friiieeends...I’m still in love with yooou-hoooo!!!
Current mood: reflective
Category: reflective Romance and Relationships

I'm not at the present time, but I've been there before.

Honestly I'm cool with most of my exes.(I'm a chick who hangs out with guys, how could I not?) The others that I'm not so cool with have fallen into 1 of 2 categories.

1) You did me so wrong, you're dirtier than a used tampon, and/or I dislike you so much that if I turn around and look at a picture of you, I'll probably turn into a pillar of salt.

Or.

2) I still love you, but knowing that you don't wanna be with me, I'm not gonna torture myself with your presence.

I know we could all talk about the lowdown no-good exes in category one, but we'll discuss category numba deux...for now.

Now the exes I've been friends with, I've been able to talk about their relationships as well as mine and everything else under the sun, but with others that are in the 2nd group things are different. With the person in my example, I loved him more than words could say, but things ended when he moved further away for a job and didn't want a long-distance relationship. We tried to be friends and that worked for a while. He was there for me when I lost my grandparents and the person I was dating at the time seemingly stopped seeing me because he didn't wanna be there for me so of course the feelings for the ex started naturally coming back. He was calling me, texting me all the time, and even invited me to come and stay with him where he was when I needed a break. Seems cool, right? BUT here comes the fucked up part.

He had a girlfriend the entire time and didn't tell me. AND it was long-distance.

I. Was. Beyond. Pissed.

I cut him off, deleted him from everything, and cussed him out for making me feel like an ass. And then the light bulb went off in my head.

I was still in love with this fool, and I was silly enough to think that a friendship could lead back to us being together. We can't be friends!

Time progressed, I moved on to BIGGER and BETTER things and he apologized (profusely), and since I'm merciful when you're sincere, I forgave him. We're at least on speaking terms, BUT (and that's a but that's bigger than mine.lol) I still have to keep him at a distance even with friendship for my sake as well as his because I will delete his ass again with no hesitation and he knows it.

So now I wanna hear from y'all....

Do you think it's stupid or wise to cut off someone you love because you know that the feelings are there that you can't do anything about?

Talk amongst yourselves.

(P.S. Enjoy the fresh new sounds on the playlist. I'll blog about those tracks later. LOL)

Take a trip to my yard...
Current mood: crunk
Category: crunk Music

1. A1 - "Too Bad Baby"

A1 (no affiliation with the steak sauce y'all) was actually a pretty good boyband in their day. I bought their second album when I went to France and I was so feelin' how they evolved into a semi-R&B sound.

2. Aerosmith - "Dream On"

Good ole classic rock from one of my favorite long-standing groups ever. AND the next Guitar Hero game is gonna be based on them. Friggin' sweet.

3. AFI - "Miss Murder"

I love the swingy-ness of the beat, but also how it slows down in the middle of the song and goes HARD!

4. Al Green ft. John Legend - "Stay With Me"

So breezy and perfect for summer slow dances, this song is the perfect blend of new and old over a harmoniously soulful track.

5. Busta Rhymes ft. Linkin Park - "We Made It"

This song is like another fight song for me. Try workin' out to this and see if you don't get crunk.

6. Day26 - "Don't Fight The Feeling"

YES! This is the best song on the album. B. Cox knows he's always dope with R&B cut jam production.

7. Guns N' Roses - "Welcome to the Jungle"

Even if you don't like rock, you know this song. LMAO.

8. Hot Stylz ft. Yung Joc & R. Kelly - "Lookin' Boy (Remix)"

I know this is an ig'nant ass song, but I LOVE IT. I wish I could've thought of some those
