"Standing In The Rain" DJ Record Pool Reveiws are in!
Current mood: artistic
Category: Music

The Reviews for the new single "Standing In The Rain" are in!  Also, all the tracks
are now available on my Snocap store on my page (both Radio Edits & Extended Versions).  The video is almost complete & will be posted soon!  Let me know what you think!

*DIXIE DANCE KINGS*
Great work once again from Russ and a great pairing with Adam Barta. The
talents are made for each other.

*LETS DANCE IRS RECORD POOL*
Glad to hear from the very talented Adam Barta. This one worked well the
first time I spun it. My personal favorite mix is the "Klubjumpers Klub
Mix", the DJ's have also been giving the "Main Mix" & "Project X Remix" a very
favorable review.

*MASSPOOL*
DJ Russ Harris f/ Adam Barta "Standing in the Rain" He's back with a
creative little track , check it out, it won't fail you and will grab
the floor!

*MAD PROMOTIONS *
He is such a nice boy!
The record is good.
2 Mixes are Original and Tony Arzadon.

*OUR MID ATLANTIC POOL (OMAP)*
Once again DJ Russ Harris comes through with a solid set of mixes. The
vocals remind us a bit of Duran Duran and this looks like it could be a
pretty big summer hit for us here at OMAP. Best initial response to Mr.
Mig, Tony Arzadon & Monster Taxi mixes. The male vocals are a nice
change for Russ as he usually uses females.

*PHILLY SPINNERS ASSOC*
FAVORITE Mix : FRANK MILANO REMIX ; GREAT Manipulation Of The VOCALS +
FANTASTIC NRG !!
TRACK IS REMINISCENT OF GIORGIO MORODER COLLABORATIONS WITH DONNA SUMMER
From The Mid- To Late 70's !!
DEFINITE PICK HIT . . . We EXPECT This To Go TOP 10 !!

*CENTRAL OHIO RECORD POOL*
Lots and lots of great mixes of this song give us all kinds of options.
Typical from this artist, the song has a catchy hook, good melody, and
the vocal work is solid. Although there are many good mixes, I (now)
prefer the Klubjumpers version. Other DJs in the Pool have other
preferences depending on their style and venues. Initial feedback is
strongly favorable. This will do very well in our market.

*HAWAII DJ ASSOCIATION*
Club friendly track...it's a song with a nice chorus. I like the Monster
Taxi and original mixes. Should chart with no problem.

*PITTSBURGH DISC JOCKEY ASSOCIATION*
Favorite mix is track 9. Song is very energetic.& should do well for the
pool.

*NORTHWEST DANCE MUSIC ASSOCIATION*
NEEDS MORE MIXES! Kidding of course...that Klubjumper's mix is the one!
Can't wait to see what my members pick as their favs. Top 15.

*RICKETTS RECORD POOL*
his stuff always does well with me

*SOUNDWORKS*
This is a strong track - please pull the strongest tracks that give
variety.
Main Mix - this is the best mix - consistent and workable
Monster Taxi - good solid house
Arzadon Club - I personally like the stripped down dark treatment - less
usable but - good for very late night play

This is the mix that I was passing out in Miami on cd, so if you are one of the lucky one's I bumped into that week, you got an early release copy of it.

Also, as you can see, we have the "teaser" trailer for the new single "Standing In The Rain" coming out May 2008.  Adam Barta is the featured singer on this track (you won't hear me on this one) and the song revolves around a woman that is caught cheating and is left "standing in the rain" by herself.  The teaser is a sampling from the photo shoot in New York on April 14th and also features the lovely Brianne Perrotto as the subject of the song.  The video will be shot in Puerto Rico on May 20-22nd so stay tuned!

Winter Music Conference Review
Current mood: tired
Category: Music

My week in Miami at the 2008 Winter Music Conference began on Tuesday night.  After getting in later in the day, I only had time to make one event that evening.  I attended the party at Mansion which was being hosted by Paul Oakenfold himself & his collaboration with a symphony orchestra.  It was very interesting at the beginning when many in the audience did not know what to expect.  The dance floor was filled with people soaking it all in at first, and the dancing was not fully realized until about the first third of his set when the vibe was attained & it simply just pulled everyone in.  Truly amazing, you haven't heard anything like a DJ & a symphony playing together in unison like this before.  Mansion kicked everyone out at 10pm, only to open back up again at 10:30 to open the doors to a whole new set of headliners such as Benny Benassi, Fischerspooner & MSTRKRFT.

Wednesday opened up with me registering at the WMC hotel, checking out various seminars & hanging at poolside.  It's always good to be face to face with people you normally don't get to see, when most of your annual contact is IM-ing, emailing, myspacing, or facebooking each other.  Got to catch up with Dan from the Klubjumpers, Albert Costillo, Dom Armano, Mike Bordes & Jason "Monster Taxi" Klein in a single hour!  Even Paul Van Dyk was having lunch there without the usual entourage I've normally seen him with.  Blake Lewis of American Idol fame was reaching out this week to the Dance industry & I picked up his latest project that he was looking for some remixers to work his new song.

Wednesday night had me attending the popular Tommy Boy party at the Victor Hotel on Oceanside.  Seems it's the annual hangout now with a lot of familiar faces in the Industry attending.  Louie Vega (Masters At Work) was spinning when I walked in, followed by Danny Teneglia who had a inconspicuous dancing couple in front of him all night, one half of that couple being Paul Van Dyk & a lady friend, whom most of the guests didn't even notice.  The mojitos I had are preventing me from remembering who spun next, as I was catching up with artists like Rachael Starr, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Chris Cox, Drea, Kristy Kay, Joe Bermudez, and industry people like Jim Robinson & Cary Vance of Promo Only, DJ Armando & Skyy of XM Radio's BPM station, Mike Spinella of AOL, record promoter Bobby Shaw, & BIG Management's Gary Salzman.  Somehow I ended up with the XM crew & we found ourselves getting silly with Patron & slushies from Wet Willy's on Oceanside.  Heading back home, I was greeted at my room by my Chicago roommates who finally arrived & found myself hopping in a cab right away to Space, where we got to see & Mar T perform up on the top level.  At one point, this other guy jumps up on the booth, lights up this wand, & then proceeds to play the violin live with the DJ.  The crowd went ballistic!  Thus, explaining how easy it is to find yourself getting in at 6am on a Thursday morning in Miami.  We were waiting for Erick Morillo to show up for his 4:00 set, only to fing out that he didn't show up until 8:30…glad I didn't wait.

The radio panel held at the WMC hotel was surprisingly upbeat this year after a few years of it hearing about its demise.  It must be akin to the rising bpm in today's Top 40 music that is bringing back Dance to the mainstream audience again!  After attending a few more seminars at the WMC hotel, I had to attend Robbie Rivera's Juicy Beach party at Niki Beach that afternoon after missing it last year.  Let's just say that if you haven't heard Robbie, Benny Benassi, or Axwell spin live for a party going beach crowd, you haven't heard anything yet.  Utterly insane & I hope I'll be able to find a clip of it online on youtube later on.  I then got myself ready to attend the IDMA Awards back at the WMC hotel & got to meet David Guetta for the first time backstage.  What a great guy to meet, even with the thick French accent!  Chris Willis also showed up to win an award & Crystal Watters did her thing up on stage rocking everyone's socks off.  The after-party at the new Crobar (Dream) club was well attended, but as it winded down, we were treated to the likes of Steve Smooth & JJ Flores of Chicago, Kaskade, & then Bad Boy Bill in the main room.  Chris Willis even got up & sang impromptu to a Guetta song that closed out Kaskade's set.  Needless to say, the unexpecting crowd was flabbergasted at this unannounced performance, and quickly set the tone for the new club to be known as Crobar.  A bunch of us proceeded to the club Score at Lincoln Mall, and supported DJ Armando doing his thing up in the booth.  I went back to Niki Beach at 3am to hear my boys from Chicago Tony Arzadon & Mixin' Marc do their thing to close up the Juicy party & they did not disappoint.  How quickly two hours goes by.

Friday's events had me finishing up some seminars at the WMC hotel, & some more excellent networking with many more faces in the industry.  Stopped by the Shelbourne & enjoyed hearing Fredde LeGrand spin at the pool party.  Also checked out the Remix hotel at the National & got to hear Dubfire spin live at poolside.  I made a quick appearance at Ultra Music Festival that night, only to wind up at the Chesterfield hotel to show DJ Scotty Boy some support & was also amazed at Scooter and Lavelle, who had the set right before Scotty's.  I've heard of Scooter & Lavelle, but never got to experience them before.  Scotty Boy started his set up at 11pm & then 3 minutes into his first song, hotel management & security decide to wrap up the pool party & everything proceed inside.  Later on, I ended with my Chicago crew again & we attended Suite where we walked into the middle of Felix Da Housecat's set, followed by Princess Superstar dj-ing & singing live, followed by Bad Boy Bill & then Armand Van Helden.  It was definitely the loudest club as all of our ears were still ringing the next morning (afternoon, who am I kidding) when we woke up….definitely not Sweet (Suite?)

Saturday brought more hours hanging at poolside at Remix hotel & listening to the likes of Ritchie Hawtin & Mark Knight.  I went to Bayside Park that afternoon to attend Ultra Music Festival – Day 2, and got to experience, Underworld, Fat Boy Slim, Armin Van Buren & many more to list here, while hanging with the BPM radio crew at their tent.  When Ultra ended at midnight, we carefully made our way over to Nocturnal where Robbie Rivera, Tony Arzadon, & that guy with the glow-in-the-dark violin bow also made an appearance.

Alas, Sunday was my day to leave Miami.  It's another year for the books.  Back to the online contact with everyone as I go through the anticipation of next year's event.

UNSEALED up to 16 & New Video Shoot!
Current mood: giddy
Category: Music

UNSEALED is charting at 16 on XM Radio's BPM (Channel 81) this week!  Keep calling in those requests & IM-ing "BPM on AIM" during the day!

Also, I've been informed that the next photo shoot (for upcoming single "Standing In The Rain") will be shot in New York City on April 14th.  The video will be shot in May in Puerto Rico.  Adam Barta (the singer) is gearing up to be the next hit off the album!  Brianne Perrotto will be the featured model/actress in the photo shoot & video as the "woman" left "standing in the rain".  This will be the first video where you won't see me rapping or chanting...LOL.  Stay tuned!

Exciting News...Many Topics!!! READ!
Current mood: awake
Category: Music

Here is the latest developments in my world....

While out in Las Vegas during the week of Feb. 10, 2008 for the annual Mobile Beat DJ Expo, I was asked to open up the DJ All-Star party at the penthouse of the Riviera Hotel & Casino and open for Freedom Williams (of C&C Music Factory) & Tone Loc.  It was the first time I got to work off of the new Pioneer Video Mixer (it's the bomb) that just came out.

On Thursday, I ran my seminar on Music Editing & Remixing/Mashups 101 for all interested attendees.
I also received a personal phone call from XM Radio BPM DJ Armando himself telling me that "UNSEALED" (Tony Arzadon Remix) has been added to daily Rotation.  You can find the link here:   http://www.xmradio.com/pdf/bpm_chart.pdf .

I need your continued support!  If you have AIM, & you see "BPM on AIM" online, please request "Unsealed", as it will help the song climb the charts!

I have also scored a new Remix project for the upcoming girl-band "Anything But Monday", who are currently blowing up in Florida & the UK right now....stay tuned.

The 3rd video for the upcoming single "Standing In The Rain" (ft. Adam Barta), is scheduled to be shot in New York after I return from attending Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL.  If you see me in Miami, be sure to ask for that single & it's remixes as I will have "sneek-peak" copies on me all week.

UNSEALED - RECORD POOL REVIEWS ARE IN!!!!
Current mood: pleased
Category: Music

What are the critics saying about DJ Russ Harris' new duet with Jiga? The reviews are now "Unsealed"!

DIXIE DANCE KINGS
5 add and a new entry at 49. Excellent start on a track with great potential.

LETS DANCE IRS RECORD POOL
A definite crowd pleaser here! The "Harris vs. Harris Remix" is the favorite, excellent production.

MASSPOOL
A fantastic set of remixes for everyone to love! You really need to check this one out., you wont be disappointed..."_)

OUR MID ATLANTIC POOL (OMAP)
Wow, that's a lot of mixes on the cd single-what would that be a triple 12" back in the day. Anyway another solid piece from Russ & Jiga. Lots of positive feedback on this one with the strongest going to the Original (that's always a good thing), Tony Arzadon & Josh Harris. Look for a solid crossover hit here at OMAP this winter.

RESOURCE RECORD POOL
This is very good. The best from Russ Harris yet. All mixes work. This should do well in Los Angeles.

PHILLY SPINNERS ASSOC
WOW !! There's A REMIX Here For EVERYONE !! IMPECCABLE PRODUCTION & NICE HOOK !! GOOD VOCAL & RAP !! Look For This To Go TOP 10 For Us !! Our FAVORITE Mix Seems To Be "HARRIS Vs. HARRIS" Remix Because Of Its UNDERGROUND FEEL !!

CENTRAL OHIO RECORD POOL
I really like this. Wide variety of excellent mixes makes the song playable about anywhere that includes dance music in its format. I like the vocals, and great rhythm tracks abound. This is the way to successfully promote a song! Gonna be big in our market.

HAWAII DJ ASSOCIATION
Very nice club track, very Britney, mindless but good fun. The rap takes you back to the 90's. I like the Harris vs. Harris mix.

PITTSBURGH DISC JOCKEY ASSOCIATION
The song is hot.  Used it as a pick.

NORTHWEST DANCE MUSIC ASSOCIATION
Too many good mixes to choose from! So far we're leaning towards the Dj Russ Harris as well as the Harris vs Harris mixes. Easily a Top 15 hit!

LONG ISLAND RECORD POOL
Lots of diverse and good mixes on "Unsealed" by DJ Russ Harris feat. Jiga. This is right up the alley of what usually is well received (and played often) by our DJs. Jiga's vocals are definitely better than the male vocalist (I guess that might be Russ?) especially on the Original Mix, but because the female vocals are dominant, it should not adversely affect the overall acceptance. No one track stands out from the others, more so because they are all quite good, which is not always the case with most of the releases we receive. Really nice job with lots of good mixes to choose from.

RICKETTS RECORD POOL
song is awesome, non-stop hits from this guy

PACIFIC COAST DJS
Just got this......like it a lot! Nice vocals, great hook which always makes for a hit song. All mixes are good, nice variety. Should be a charting song for sure.

SOUNDWORKS
This one just arrived. I liked the Original mix - sort of a less poppy "Gimme More." The Harris vs. Harris mix is my pick -the Harris Club mix and DJ Inphinity mixes are also good.

Release Party & Video Shoot - THE AFTERMATH.....
Current mood: tired
Category: Music

Well, it's been a long & busy 2 days.  The Record Release Party kicked ass!  For those of you that showed up may thanks goes out to you!  For those that sent a message wishing good luck, I wish you were there too!  Jiga came (all the way from Germany!), she sang, she took names & kicked ass!  It was her first performance without her beloved guitar & she was nervous but you'd never guess it!  The Lodge was very accomodating & was surprised so many people showed up that early!  They'd never seen that many people at that time before on a Wed. night!  Special shout-out to all the Show On The Road staff (current & former!) and Chicagoland ADJA members!  I'm glad to call you all my friends!

As for the video shoot today, filming took place at the RedNo5 on Halsted in Chicago.  The very lovely dancers Lindsey & Sophie (who also helped out spicing up the stage the night before), Vanessa (who likes to be called Veronica...LOL) and Kate all helped through the grueling day of dancing & rubbing me & Jiga (it's a tough job but someone's gotta do it)!  Mario Ink & Dan Baron @ Windy City Media worked ther technical magic & direction.  We then moved everything over to Alex "Goyk" Goykhman's studio on Canal & finished the shoot off with Abby & Katie...all I can say now is "fantasy sequence"...stay tuned...!  This video will be soooo different from Drums In The Club (no green screens, no "pale Russ" (I tanned up for this one!), and no paint...sorry!).  This one will have a very artsy, sexy, coture vibe for it.  I look forward to seeing the finished in Dec.!  While Jiga is in town (staying at the house all week), we scored 2 live appearances at the RedNo5 Club & at Zero Gravity on Saturday night.  Stay tuned for the Video Release!
