Live on NBC’s Great Day SA
Current mood: rebellious
Category: Music

ok ok ok ... here is the video clip from when we were on GDSA a couple weeks ago. This was a really fun show.

I have to give the producers and staff over at GDSA big kudos. They ran a great show and were totally organized. They had us sounding great and did everything to make sure we were comfortable with the sound. It was a fun morning and the crew over there made if fun as hell!! ... although getting up that early in the moring does suck lol :-)

Music Town Record Store CD Release
Current mood: optimistic

(pictures on the way).....

Wow, thanks to everyone for making our little invite only cd party so much fun. It was exactly what we wanted to do for the debut of this album. It was intimate and small and very very personal. Music Town Record Store was filled with friends and fam ... and I don't think their was a person their we didn't know on a first name basis.

Much thanks to (we'll just call them our A.M. crew) a couple of folks thought the show was at 9 a.m. and showed up at the Record Store looking for the show, to only find out it was at 9 p.m. ... hey they were there at night time too and they were still all dressed up looking great. You guys are awesome!!!

We've got to say a special thanks to everyone that came in from out of town. We had people come in from Victoria, Austin, and Corpus. I'll tell ya it's good to be surrounded by friends that'll travel like that to see you.

Special thanks to Brent the owner of Music Town Records for being SO COOL and allowing us to do the instore with him ... and making the whole night super smooth.

And much thanks to Brandon and Randolph for giving us a sneak peak at the upcoming two Dog Men Poet videos they've been working on. All I kept hearing from folks while the videos were playing was..."Wow, thos are Really REALLY GOOD!!" ... and all I could say way, yeah, they are, but keep it down I wanna see what happens next in the video ... because I was seeing them for the first time too :-) They really are badass!!!! Can't wait till the full DVD is ready.. hint hint :-)
Thanks Guys!

Ok...here are some of the pics from last Sat night. More on the way as we still don't have the pics yet from Kat and Hello Dirty Photos :-)

SA Current write-up

DMP in the Current this Week.

Ok, so the SA Current did a write-up on us the other day. Hey, gotta love the Current lol. Anyway, they always throw you a couple curve balls and honestly you never know what they're going to write. We've been very lucky from the support of our fans to win a bunch of their contests, but the bands never really felt like they were super behind us because we aren't your typical SA underground, alt-heavy-rock-tattoed-sorta band. But they did a little write-up on us for our new album, so much thanks to the SA Current and Gilbert Garcia over there for taking the time to listen to the new album. We appreciate it!

CD Release Party Invite Only (Please Read)
Current mood: animated

Ok, so if you haven't heard... we're finally releasing our 3rd studio album entiteld "Perspective: Vol 1. Sounds of Survival" ... I think the title of the album is pretty self explanatory, but just in case ... here goes... basically it's reflections on the evolution (read hear survival) of Dog Men Poets. The music has definitely evolved since the earlier albums and I think you'll dig the direction.

Now about the Invite only deal.
we're doing the initial CD Release at Music Town Record Store. This is an indie record store. We're going to set up shop in there July 12th from 9:00-12:00 pm. Their will be food and drink for folk and basically DMP will play 1 banging set, we'll drink socialize, and debut the Inspired Music Video by Brandon Faucet.
Unfortunately this is a pretty intimate space (i.e. small :-) So, it is invite only. If you'd like to attend the event please hit us up ASAP!!!! so we can get you a ticket.

If you aren't able to get a ticket before the event we'll have to catch ya at the next show. Thanks

No More Tickets ... No More Tickets (Sorry)
Hey, guys sorry to some of you who had asked for tickets and didn't get them. This is a sort of pre-release CD Release Party and due to size restraints on the venue is invite only. It was also a conscious decision by us to do a very intimate first release of the album simply due to the nature of the songs on this album. If you weren't able to get tickets to this show no worries...we'll be having another one in a little bigger space that everyone is welcome to, but for now if you didn't get a ticket please don't just show up on Sat. Thanks.
Mike

Deep in the heart of Albuquerque

Ok, we played La Diosa last night in Lubbock. It was a really cool eclectic spot. Very cool and the people had a great vibe. Much thanks to Sylvia the owner for treating us so well ... the food is awesome and the wine was fantastic.

After the show we headed out to put in a couple hours heading toward Albuquerque... we wanted to stay and enjoy Lubbock, but damn it's a pretty long day.

We just got to our hotel after playing Albuquerque tonight. We played Ralli's tonight with a couple bands much heavier than us. A pretty odd lineup but a really fun night. The whole strip was pretty jumping and all the bands that played threw down pretty hard. We're only a couple days into our little mini tour and we've already sold out of shirts and are really low on the sampler discs.

tomorrow we play Burt's Tiki Bar and we've heard great things about it. should be a fun night. I'll let ya know.

later,

bru

.......................

ok I'm adding on the that post. We just got back in SA and the mini tour was a blast. The show Fri night in Albuquerque was off the hook!!! very cool crowd very cool bands. That was a Great Night!!. Then we crashed out and got up at like 9 to head toward Lubbock to play Bash Riprock's 2 on Sat night... that was a rough ride and Smiles was a trouper doing most of the driving. The Bash Riprocks shows was pretty chilll for a sat night, but the folks that were there definitely made it a positive vibe buying round after round ... yikes!!

we even stopped off at the Buddy Holly Museum in Lubbock and took some pics with some huge replica glasses of his.. I'll toss up some pics asap.
Great mini tour!! Everyone had a great time....but it is really good to be home!

Here are the pics...

laters,
Mike

Express News Selects DMP 1 Band ... and other stuff
Current mood: adventurous

So as we were driving out of SA for our show in Houston this Friday we found out that we'd won the SA Express News' Peoples' Choice Award for Best Band in SA. Needless to say everyone was really psyched about it..especially when such kick as bands as Two Tons of Steel and Drive were in second place. Those are some really good bands, so much thanks to everyone that got out there and made this happen.

So then we went off to Houston for the show where Fern got sick as a dog with some sort of stomach flu or food poisoning or something and puked all over the parking lot. Thanks to Plump for having us out...they're a funky Houston band we teamed up with. Afterward we drove around forever looking for a hotel with a vacancy....it took 5.

Sat we drove off to Victoria for the next show....which was pretty cool. We got here early and ducked into some ritsy apartment complex and jumped in there pool. BJ had on his jeans...(wish I had a pic) anyway, the show was good and they gave us free food on top of it all ...and people that came out were really into it...so all in all a pretty cool weekend.

T-Mobile is hunting me down like a dog
Current mood: amused

Ok, so I've had cell phones forever... and never had any problems, but I've actually lost one phone and got another wet and destroyed another (all within the last 2 weeks) Currently, T-Mobile says they have to "investigate" the situation before they issue me another phone....  personally I'm trying to figure out what the "investigation" will entail. I'm envisioning Columbo coming down to SA and dropping in dry witting questioning trying to catch me in a lie.... unfortunately (or maybe luckily) I have to lies to get caught in. I was really just that absent minded and went through 2 phones in 2 weeks.... oh well, hopefully they'll get me another one soon. I swear I'll treat it better

Fox TV to air a speicial on Dog Men Poets
Current mood: chipper

Fox TV came out and hung out with us a couple weeks ago interviewing everyone and catching us playing some songs ... they'll be running a special on Dog Men Poets this Monday at 9:00. I'm not sure what the tv spot will look like after they edit it down, but believe me when I say some of the out-takes were hilarious. Next time you see BJ ask him about is "Spinal Tap" moment... and definitely compliment Smiles for having his place cleaner for Fox than it's been in years...possibly ever. Anyway, should be a good spot. Thanks Lucas!!
