Black Music Month - "The Daily News" now $7.99

Hello Everyone!

Yes, I know that it's been a LONG time since you've heard from me. As the "One Year Anniversary" of the release of "The Daily News" rapidly approaches (June 19th), I can't help but to reflect on what a journey this has been for me both personally and professionally. Like everything else in life, this experience has been bitter and it has been sweet.

As I have done many times before, I would like THANK EVERYONE FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART that has gone out and supported "The Daily News". I TRULY appreciate each and everyone of you that have gone "above and beyond" and demonstrated to the powers that be that you will support this music with your DOLLARS!

That being said, nearly a year later, we have not sold enough album's to get everyone's attention SO I NEED YOUR HELP to get "The Daily News" the recognition that it deserves!

For those ouf you that have not purchased "The Daily News", I am pleased to announce that for Black Music Month (only) we have LOWERED THE PRICE OF THE ALBUM on iTunes to just $7.99!!! At this price, there should be no more excuses for delaying your purchase of "The Daily News"!

For those ouf you that have already purchased your copy of "The Daily News", I need you to tell the world what you think about the album. In addition to telling your friends and family, I'd ask that you take 5 minutes of your time and write your own review of the album and post it on Amazon.com and on iTunes.

As of this posting, only 25 people have reviewed "The Daily News" on Amazon.com and only 7 people have reviewed the album on iTunes. It costs you NOTHING to write a review of the album, but your reviews will be EXTREMELY helpful in persuading others that are on the fence to actually purchase the album!

Again I thank EVERYONE for their support!

DONNIE

P.S. For those of you that have not yet purchased "The Daily News" and are STILL on the fence, please read what the critics are saying about the album and consider spending your hard earned $7.99!

(3.5 stars out of 4 stars) On his second CD, this neo-soulster cotinues to evoke the spirit of cousin Marvin Gaye with insightful political and social commentary.

-- People Magazine

(3.5 stars out of 4 stars) Four years ago, Donnie's The Colored Section was the most provocative soul-fueled social commentary since the days when Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway routinely offered biting analyses of current events. These days, the real daily news continues to give him plenty to talk about, which he does with wit and insight. It's nice to be reminded that there is more to R&B than preening and pickup lines.

-- USA Today

Soul music with substance.

-- Billboard

The Daily News is the most important pop album of any stripe for 2007.

-- Urban Network

Donnie's knack for fusing liberation theory with lyric and melody is second to none.

-- Upscale

…It's an album meant to push Donnie beyond the throwback-soul brigade, that crowd of new-wave/old-wave R&B singers who replicate the singing and production styles of folks like Donny Hathaway (to whom Donnie sounds eerily similar, in voice and songwriting perspective), Stevie, Curtis and Marvin..

-- L.A. Weekly Magazine

Listening to Donnie is listening to genius.

-- Soultracks.com

(4.5 stars out of 5 stars) Despite the lack of flag waving and ass kicking, this is as American -- and progressive -- as modern music gets.

-- All Music Guide

Donnie makes a triumphant return with "The Daily News, " an album full of the socially conscious writing and rich vocals for which Donnie is known.

-- Planetsoul.com

A set that's arguably even better than his neo-classic Colored Section album.

Baltimore Sun names "The Daily News" Top 10 Album of 2007!

I'd like to thank Rashod D. Ollison of the Baltimore Sun for ranking my sophomore album, "The Daily News", as one of the Top 10 Albums of 2007!

In his Top 10 "rundown" Rashod writes:

"It's no easy feat to take such heavy topics as the shady American pharmaceutical industry, depression, the Atlanta child murders and the Hurricane Katrina disaster and churn them all into edgy, uplifting songs. On the Georgia-based artist's sophomore album, he extends the tradition of gospel as "good news" in bad times. Unlike other modern soul artists whose lyrics are politically charged (Lauryn Hill immediately comes to mind), Donnie isn't preachy. A sense of hope and spiritual transcendence permeates his lyrics as the music bumps with unbridled funk reminiscent of Talking Book-era Stevie Wonder. Behind Patterson's Wines & Spirits, The Daily News is the second most impressive R&B album of 2007."

The Movement Magzine Inteviews Donnie!

Shawndra Brown of the Movement Magazine caught up with Donnie at the Second Annual Soul Music Summit and got to ask him a few questions.

"Donnie is a true speaker. And regardless of how you feel about what he has to say, and how bluntly he chooses to say it, you have to give him props for the creativity and earnestness that he exudes. We caught up with the Atlanta-based singer-songwriter for a quick interview just days after the new record was released..."

New Donnie Interview Posted on SoulTracks.com!

Christian John Wikane interviews Donnie for Soultracks.com!

"The long journey to that night's performance, however, is a story in and of itself. In speaking with Donnie about the past few years, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that The Daily News almost didn't happen. "It was hard for me to function," he explained about returning to the studio to record his long-awaited follow-up. "To tell you the truth, I was just trying to run from it as much as I could. It's awkward. People don't understand unless they've been through it or been around it."

Donnie Interviewed by the Baltimore Sun

Rashod D. Ollison interviews Donnie for The Baltimore Sun newspaper!

"He was scared initially and didn't really think he could do it. But afterward, Donnie felt free at last.

This past summer, while on stage at the Jazz Cafe in London, the soul singer-songwriter publicly came out as a gay man. He was there promoting his latest album, The Daily News, a stellar collection of melodic, topical gospel-funk songs.

Donnie felt that if his musical mission is to boldly sing the truth as he sees it, then he should be honest about who he is."

Donnie Interview in Nu-Soul Magazine

Bren Herrera interviews Donnie for Nu-Soul Magazine!

"After a 4-year hiatus from the scene, Donnie has hit the stage with prolific writing, hard knock real life stories and emotionally provocative self analysis. The Daily News puts Donnie front and center of audiences relating to his hurt, his joy, his experience, his talent and above all, his perseverance. Soulful chords and politically consciousness lyrics are juxtaposed to create a "new" kind of soul the even his late cousin Marvin Gaye would be content with. Definitely a strong comeback full of funk!"

Donnie Nominated for "Song of the Year" and "Male Vocalist of the Year" - VOTE TODAY!

Over the weekend I was VERY EXCITED to learn that I am a finalist in two separate categories for the 2007 SoulTracks.com Readers' Choice Awards. These awards are the biggest awards in the world dedicated to independent soul music. This year's finalists, selected by a nominating committee of over 1,000 soul music artists, publicists, writers, etc., is superb and represents all that is great about Soul Music in 2007.

If you believe in my art, I would respectfully ask that you VOTE NOW for me. The voting period is only 2 weeks long and it takes less than 2 minutes to vote. The deadline is October 15th, but why wait until then? VOTE NOW and get it out of the way!

Again, I'd like to thank-you for your support! I hope I can count on you to cast your VOTE NOW and PLEASE pass this information on to as many people you know!

Who knows? Maybe winning some awards will help people start paying attention to "The Daily News"?

Be Blessed!

DONNIE
