a new poem is posted below. the title is based off of my newest book. i was going through some old poems and i came across one that i did NOT write but loved very much. it inspired this piece.
new poem: psalm in L major
to call you attractive would limit your name to definitions and you are indefinable your communication, subliminal unconstrained to a vocabulary of words or songs i write these psalms as a tribute less than what you have always been outside of the realm of understanding beyond the stars beyond boundaries, more than inexhaustible held only by the framework of your own design reigning for ever as the king of me in threes and their multiples you are denominator and i be common, a peasant girl in comparison begging bread i be submissive i be advancing when i should be retreating stagnant when i should be seeking language to explain you helpless to contain you in meaning to call you mine would mean i own you to call you love would me i've told you what i'm thinking yet 26 english letters in any order couldn't convey you with your permission, i call you letter 27 and incoherent moan 69
but it restricts you and it isn't enough
and i be humbled to call you at all would run to catch you (as if you'd ever fall) be at your service, your liege to call you sky could not contain your vastness ground, negates your core and i want more i be greedy eating when i should be full but never tiring never wanting you to stop never asking you to explain your name to me if i just called you man would make you mortal would make you hero and make you good
and it's not enough
you are a poem not fixed in form a verse not spit in rhyme written on my heart, a contradiction as half an apology to the universe for not being on par with you i sing you psalm in L major i articulate your notes in the most human way i know how to be opposite to you in a show of respect polar opposite, while still desiring your accents be my all be my absolute be my infinite number be my melody at midnight step down off of the sun just long enough that i may glimpse you and i be thankful ever grateful for your brightness
