Spring Gardens
Current mood: determined
Category: Writing and Poetry

I know it's time

I see it's time to till the earth

the cold withdrawals

to mark rebirth

While the age old simple tool

calls out to me with garden rule

Turn over here, these fertile lands

they needs your sweat and toiling hands

The winter greys are moving on

lets sow the seeds as this spring dawns

let summer colors sing their songs

If You Wanna Be Happy
Jimmy Soul

If you wanna be happy
For the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife,
So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.

A pretty woman makes her husband look small
And very often causes his downfall.
As soon as he marries her
Then she starts to do
The things that will break his heart.
But if you make an ugly woman your wife,
You'll be happy for the rest of your life,
An ugly woman cooks her meals on time,
She'll always give you peace of mind.

Don't let your friends say
You have no taste,
Go ahead and marry anyway,
Though her face is ugly,
Her eyes don't match,
Take it from me she's a better catch.

Say man.
Hey baby.
Saw your wife the other day. Yeah?
Yeah, she's ugly.
Yeah, she's ugly but she sure can cook.
Yeah?. Okay.

Feeding Studly
Current mood: amused
Category: Writing and Poetry

Studly

Studly's what I call him

my big red Card da nell

there's three hens out there with him

'cause he's handsome as hell

He sang to my electric speakers

early in the spring

thinkin they were his same creatures

quite loudly he did sing

Well, that puffed up his big red chest

high in the tree above the rest

then hens flew in to build small nests

and to preen their crimson crests

hoping they would just be blessed

to stand guard from that cow bird pest

and hatch out their own small red breasts

who'll pass the word that Studly's best

as they sing for their hens nest

Then when summer moves along

they'll be less insects I will scorn

while Studly's fame spreads cross the lawns

the magic of the cardinals sound

will add a few more smiles in town

Perhaps a little child so sad

might not think things are so bad

if one dark day within their heart

that Studly song could set a spark

and put a smile upon the face

that sees the world a better place

So I spread the feed in snow

and hope that Studly's fame will grow

and pray a child that has felt wronged

will find some strength within the song

christmas visit
Current mood: grateful

The Thankful Visit

My Christmas Tree I share

with those who once were there

no longer can they come see me

so I leave pieces of my tree

We are but bits of those we met

a sponge I am with no regrets

I took the memories with me

and show that when I place the tree

Early Morning Drift

Chilled to the bone from the early morning cold north wind
I blow into my cupped hands for warmth
rolling my hands together for the friction
I stare out at the small animals I've fed
filling a small need they have for survival
I feel rewarded and my thoughts drift off to you
Your wonderful spirit that comes to such brilliance
with the teasing touch of our contact.
Listening to the birds coo
your sounds when pleased come to mind
Your playful nature sings
from the action of the birdbath
My humble offerings have added fuel to both
That cold biting north wind
becomes manageable for the flight
The tender attention
and loving whispers
help the flight of my western chickadee

Vanishings

Dreaming traditions

wanting my own

Tried hard to set up

when building my home

Not quite accepted

thought more a rhyme

Not a single one lasted

all faded in time

Invite someone over

different and down

only to question them

right out of town

Christmas Eve night

decorations appeal

lost with director idea

for the zeal

The Christmas tree farm

once was tagged and fine cut

now is just pick up

along with the rush

Who is not working

when others attend

just woke me up finally

traditional end

Broken Lives in the middle of nowhere
Current mood: cold
Category: Writing and Poetry

Fallen Dreams

The broken home

within the wood

built on dreams

that never could

Shows me that

not every dream

can work out

it's intended scheme

I stop and wonder

who lived there

and why I feel

so much despair
