[Written July 10, 2008, from Hilton Head Island - last day of vacation]
I walk alone in windswept surf,
Needing just to hear your sigh...
I'm consumed by restless waves of you
And once again I long for sleep
And wish for dreams of you and I
That purest taste that my soul craves is overdue
I believe in you, and even as my strength is tried,
I believe in you, within your heart I still reside,
I believe in you, and always need you here with me,
I believe in you, because... through your eyes I truly see
The countless miles you've had to go
And the endless hell you've had to know
Only for the chance of us...
I choke on words that cannot speak;
That cannot voice the thoughts I seek;
And cannot wash away... the ceaseless tides of fear...
