Setting Your Thoughts to a Higher Note

This is an excerpt from an article written way back in 1906 by a fellow named William Walker Atkinson (Thought Vibration):

"If you set your mind to the keynote of courage, confidence, strength and success, you attract to yourself thoughts of like nature; people of like nature; things that fit in the mental tune. Your prevailing thought or mood determines that which is to be drawn toward you - picks out your mental bed-fellow. You are today setting into motion thought currents which will in time attract toward you thoughts, people and conditions in harmony with the predominant note of your thought. Your thought will mingle with that of others of like nature and mind, and you will be attracted toward each other, and will surely come together with a common purpose sooner or later, unless one or the other of you should change the current of his thoughts."

Be aware of your predominant thoughts and feelings. Don’t revel on your sadness and loneliness. Think Love instead.

Collaborate. Create. Liberate

When I first started the East Village Company( www.eastvillagecompany.com), I wanted people to truly come together and collaborate within the creative process.  Creating something original and beautiful in partnership with an amazingly talented artisan is far more fulfilling than I had imagined. Our prices for custom art services make it possible now for anyone to create or realize things that were once left to the imagination.  When you become witness and a party to the unfolding of an idea or thought, it is easy to recognize that part of you that is naturally inclined to create.  When you create ---you liberate your true self. It is truly difficult to be unhappy when you are creating and fully expressing.  This is a philosophy that my staff and I have learned to habituate and we have dedicated ourselves to continuously providing the same opportunity for anyone who yearns to find that part of himself or herself by keeping our services affordable.  I look forward to being your partner in this worthwhile and most fun adventure in self-discovery.

Behavior, Beliefs and the Creative Process (re-post)

I believe that our behavior is always appropriate to what we believe in.  The results that we get from our actions and reactions are directly related to our paradigm or how we view the world.  Our paradigm is made up of all the beliefs that we hold on to or created from the time we were born until we become adults.  Most of these beliefs that make up our paradigm are buried way deep inside our consciousness and, more often than not, we are oblivious of their existence. Beliefs that have been created in early childhood make up the core of our daily filters.  Our automatic reactions to things that happen in our lives are simply these core beliefs in action.  This is our comfort zone---our so-called reality.  It is within this allegorical box that we often move about in the world.  It is also within this reality that we get the same results over and over again.

I believe that healing takes place at a time when we begin to become more aware of our beliefs that make up our paradigm.  This is when we begin our journey to self-awareness.  This is when we explore the possibilities of an open-mind and the freedom that comes with forgiveness. This is when the things that we want, begin to appear in our lives.  This is the time we move from being boxed-in with our beliefs and into the realm of limitless possibilities that come with being open at the top.

We are only limited by what we allow our minds to believe.  If we become aware of the things that we believe about ourselves and about the world around us, then we can simply change our minds about some of the beliefs that dont serve us.  If as a child, you were told that you are a loser, that you are a mistake or that the world is an unfriendly place or if you experienced something terrible like abuse, these events are more likely to generate false beliefs about yourself and the world.  You may believe that you are not worthy of love, that you cannot trust anyone or that there is something wrong with you.  It is in our nature to constantly prove ourselves right based on what we believe in.  We are safe within our beliefs---our comfort zone.  When we are not aware of such beliefs then we will always create the same results for ourselves.  These are the kinds of false beliefs that let us sabotage ourselves at work and in our relationships.  We do things subconsciously to maintain our perceived reality of the world and ourselves.  Inside this allegorical box, we get stuck with the same results over and over again.  Until we can shift our paradigm and expand our beliefs, our reality remains limited.

I have often believed that we are most ourselves when we dabble in the creative process.  I believe we are all meant to create.  It is in this realm that we liberate ourselves from all the layers and begin to remember who we truly are.  I am hoping that as I learn to participate in the creative process, I begin to rediscover myself then I can also learn to release and forgive.  I believe that the time we learn to forgive is the time we begin to heal; it is the time we liberate ourselves.

The Promise of Clouds

Soul impaled by visions of a broken dream,

My heart bleeds the song of the flightless lark

Sitting on its wooden post watching life rush by

When it could own the blue and boundless sky.

Feathered friend be not the rushing river of grief

With no memory of its abundant ocean

Aimless beyond the confluent of flowing lives

No hope to rest awhile and be something more.

The sun rises so take your breath and leap from that post

For in the first step of seeming death, your wings will spread

The wind will blow and carry and as soon as you take your last breath

It turns endless and you're soon struck beholding the promise of clouds.

Smiling Man

Funny how you see through me

Walls from my youth crumble with greatest of ease.

Strange how your smile just holds me

Warming the shadows of my cold and dark days.

You make me believe and I want to live

Set fire to falsehoods that stole my peace

All the bitter illusions that strike me down to my knees.

I am all at once--- free.

Safe in your harbor, flowing and dancing

With the colors that now do appear

Whirling inside me replacing the sadness with

Radiance of power and life.

Love--- no longer an illusion.

Funny how you see through me

Divorce

All my memories of you they break me.

Barely standing from the sight of your luminous face.

In the quiet night you haunt me,

A million thoughts that howl like hurricane, that only I can dread.

The words you used to tell me you love me, now lie wasted in these endless tears.

The photographs, your silly toys, the familiar sound of your

soft voice, taunt of wasted years.

You took my hand, gave me your name, but with that ring, everything just changed.

Tell me why you could not find peace in love.

I am restless without you and I don't know who I am.

You

You took my hand

Then let it go,

Leaving all of my dreams behind you.

I thought the world had finally shown

A light to see us through.

Maybe all I can hope for is rain,

I will always think of you.

I saw your eyes

Fill up with love,

Then it turned so cold around me.

The sun could not warm the empty hellos

Or melt the cold goodbyes.

I guess all I was destined to know

We were never meant to fly.

You are the song I hear

Journeys of long ago

Sweetly sung by a thousand faces

Heard across thunderous whirling skies

Melody so right.

I'll sing for you

And travel on

Hoping all my words remind you

Hope is a gift I carry alone

But love will see us through.

Maybe someday you want to be free

And I hope you'll think of me.

Missing

I find the hopes of dawn only to find you gone

What lies ahead for the morning but a broken dream

Feels like the heavens have finally blocked the sun

Left with an emptiness that's so cold and mean.

I hope to God someday you'll pass this way again

If only to see the smile that was rarely there

Hurts to know that I'm just your gentle rain

Falling in silence beyond what you can bear.

I hear the laughter and cheers of the innocents

Running around with wings of a welcome dream

Aching to bounce and hop the old rustic fence

To sail along through pictures of constant things.

I hope to God someday we'll come this way again.

Carry the smiles and laughter on our steady stream

Hand in hand we'll always face the break of dawn

And fly away sailing on the clouds and dreams.

Up On That Hill

You forget yourself when you think what you've lost in love

And fail to see the road beyond your tears.

Hard to believe in the dreams you've had

When your sadness feeds your fears.

But let me tell you now my friend,

About a place where you can smile again

Where hope stretches miles on end.

Up on that hill you can see the world

And it's telling you to be free.

Give all the love you have to give

A river flowing to the sea.

To lean out on your own sense of wonder

Deliver the pangs of  humanity

To learn what it means to be real,

Up on that hill.

You hide from pain and you think that it will never end

And close your eyes to love that can be your own

It's hard to let go of the thoughts you've had

When that is all that you've ever known

But let me tell you now my friend

About a place where you can smile again

Where love stretches miles on end

Passing Glance

I have often said to my friends, that one never

makes a regrettable mistake when coming from

a place of unconditional love.

However, while it may not be regrettable,

it's never easy letting go of love, especially

one that has resonated within your soul for

as long as you can remember.

Passing Glance

I never wanted more than a passing glance

Just a moment to see your eyes

I never hoped to be given a chance

But a part of me wants to fly

In the depths of your own disguise

All I wanted was to hold the light

Sacrificing the life in my eyes

Just to see you shine so bright.

Yet beyond that passing glance

You saw my face and you looked away

With the ocean slipping through our hands

I'm stuck with the moon and nothing left to say.

Goodbye, you're only a breath away

Goodbye, your sun will rise someday

Goodbye, we never stood a chance

Goodbye, spread your wings and fly away.
