Man Uses Steak Knife for At-Home Tracheotomy
Current mood: hungry
Category: Music
OMAHA, Neb. — An Omaha man struggling to breath used a steak knife to perform an at-home tracheotomy. Steve Wilder says he thought he was going to die when he awoke one night last week and couldn't breath. Wilder says he didn't call 911 because he didn't think help would arrive in time. So, the 55-year-old says, he got a steak knife from the kitchen and made a small hole in his throat, allowing air to gush in. Wilder suffered from throat cancer and related breathing problems several years ago. About that time, he had an episode where he couldn't breath because his air passages swelled shut. He says that's what happened this time around. Doctors don't expect Wilder to suffer any adverse affects from the tracheotomy once it's healed. He also stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Olympic Struggle
Current mood: hungry
Category: News and Politics
I’m sure it’s no surprise to any of you that I don’t care for the Chinese government and their practices, but I have no beef with the Chinese people. I’m in a tough spot with my view on the Olympics being held in Beijing. My first thought is that I wish the U.S. wasn’t participating in the Games there at all and that other nations would join us in not being a part of them. I know that politically it would stifle any progress that may have been made in relationships with the Chinese government, but I’m not sure that I care about the ramifications that follow.
It’s obvious that the Chinese government has no intentions of changing. They’ve continued to be arrogant and stubborn. Their behavior and treatment of the Tibetan monks has been extremely appalling. Their attempted vilification of the Dalai Lama is almost humorous, it’s so absurd. I don’t want to punish the Chinese people by not participating, but I feel the leadership in that country needs to feel the weight of world-wide pressure.
I also don’t want to be un-supportive of the Olympic family. It’s difficult because I want to support my country in the Games... but where does one draw the line? I’m not one to cry "boycott"(i.e. Disney and the Southern Baptists), but I feel like the U.S. should take some kind of stance to show we won’t tolerate the violation of human rights.
What are your thoughts?

American Idol

Truthfully, I can’t stand the show... but I CANNOT help but watch it!
I was overwhelmingly excited to watch tonight as I’m a huge fan of Dolly Parton. Part of me didn’t want to watch because I knew that many of her songs would be butchered. The girls didn’t do very well in my opinion, but maaaan the dudes did very, very well. I was impressed the first time I heard the David Archuleta because he can sing like crazy. It was beautiful to watch Dolly fight back tears when she heard him sing "Smoky Mountain Memories". I’ll be extremely surprised if he doesn’t win the whole deal.
Michael Johns was fun to watch performing "It’s All Wrong, But It’s All Right". You could tell Dolly was really taken with him as well. I think the dude’s gonna go far. He’s down to earth, a pretty creative dude, and a big sexy beast. Yes... I might have a man-crush on him.
Okay... that’s enough of my schoolgirl-ish television review. I’m gonna go put on my PJs and sing into a hairbrush.

Dawg Gone

My Georgia team didn’t do as well as I wanted or expected. It was a great game through about middle of the second half. Eh. It sure was fun watching a brilliant Belmont team give Duke a run for their money, though! This weekend should be pretty fun watching to see who makes it to regionals.
Ohh... I read this article about John Rich holding a regular talent competition here in Nashville. Pretty cool, huh? I watched a little bit of Gone Country and was impressed with how he handles things. He’s one of those staples that is good for the Country music culture here. And... it really is a culture. An interesting one that is filled with fantastic history. The industry itself has its share of douchebags, but the ones that are genuine and real rise to the top eventually. It’s good that folks like Rich are encouraging new talent. Hopefully that will help spotlight some acts that would otherwise not have a shot.

It’s been a while since I’ve been really interested in basketball. I mean really interested. I’m a sports fan all of the time and try to keep up with happenings, but the past years have really just turned me off to NBA basketball. When I was a kid, there were superstars like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Dominique Wilkins, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, David Robinson, Karl Malone, Clyde Drexler, and so many more. For a while, I felt the game was overrun by thugs and show-offs. LeBron James piqued my interest and I’ve been watching him and he has really made me want to watch the game again.
This year, NCAA basketball is on my radar, following Georgia’s miraculous run in the SEC tourney. I don’t know how far they will make it, but I will definitely be rooting for them today against Xavier. I think they’ll make it past them, but I feel the next round will be a huge struggle for them facing off against Purdue or Baylor. I’m assuming it will not be Baylor, but we’ll see. I’m picking North Carolina to win it all. Are any of you following the NCAA tourney?

Dear Governor
Current mood: sleepy
Any governor... Will you pay me to have sex with you? Just pay me $1.00.
Then... when the media finds out... millions of people will visit my MySpace page, record companies will offer me contracts, magazines will want me on their pages, radio stations will play my songs, and I will be an overnight fan sensation, regardless of any talent I may or may not have.
All because a politician paid me to have sex with me.
This is open especially to female governors. This is not open to the Governor of California.
Sincerely,
Eddie Christy

Old Bio
I have the greatest puppy in the world named LaFawnduh. I like coffee and dark chocolate. They don't have to be together or in that order. I'm a pretty average guy. I love McCreary's Irish Pub. I love living in Nashville. I think friends should be real. It's important that I don't drink out of plastic cups. I like for my towels to be tri-fold lengthwise. I carried a briefcase to school in the fifth grade. My dad wouldn't let me have training wheels on my first bike because that was for sissies. I like Coca Cola in glass bottles. I like big butts and I cannot lie. My best friends are girls. I need some plants in my house. I hate clutter. I think Clint Eastwood is cooler than the other side of the pillow. I wish I had a lunch buddy. I suck at video games. I once had a friend named Lester. I still celebrate his birthday every Groundhog Day. I think I'm starting to go bald. I'm a great interior decorator. BlueBell Ice Cream is the best on the planet. I've watched Jerry Maguire 189 times at least. I still cry at the end and I can't help it. I'm glad I'm not the president. I'm glad W is. I like to watch babies sleep. I want to be able to pay my bills without struggling. I'm pretty sure my mama can kick your butt. I want to eat Papa Johns every day and not get fat. I never owned a real Slip 'N Slide. When I'm an old man I'm going to chop firewood for all my neighbors. If celebrities were chased by Pavarotti instead of Paparazzi it would be more fun to hear about their lives.
I'm a wretch. I'm thankful for the good things that come my way in life when I know that I don't deserve them. Its amazing where life takes you. I love to share with people about my life and what I've been through and hope that my life experiences, successes, failures, faith (and the lack of) can help them along their journey.

Weehoo!
Current mood: pleased
Category: Music
I'm anxious for all of you to hear the new song! Hopefully, it will be available on iTunes around the end of the month.... certainly before Valentine's Day. The production is more full on this one than on "I Can't". That wasn't my original intent with this particular song, but it just kinda morphed into it. I'm VERY pleased with how it turned out!!

That's Matt McKenzie in the photo with me in the studio. Matt has played on records and on the road with folks like Don Williams, Reba McEntire, LeeAnn Womack, and was even one of the original members of Lyle Lovett's Large Band. I was fortunate to have Matt play on the new song, and maaaan did he do a fantastic job.
Shane Martin played lead on the new song and "I Can't". The cat can tear it up. He toured for several years with SHeDaisy, Rebecca Lynn Howard, and several others. It's really been a blessing to have such seasoned, talented, and creative players help out with this.
Now... I know what you're thinking. "Eddie.. that sounds like a lot of country." You'll just have to wait and hear it! COMING SOON!!
