Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a minute to share some information about a very good friend of mine. Her name is Lauri Ditunno and she is one of the most incredible pastry chefs here in New York City. And to top it off she is even a more incredible person. I met her a few years back, she was a friend of one of the bands I use to cover. We just knew of one another in passing on the scene, but one late night we walked to the subway together and we became fast friends. She was even cool enough to make up am AMAZING chocolate and cookie platter for an event I did last year at the Luna lounge. A lot of great people showed, it was my first attempt at my own event. And I would have to say that with her help the event was SWEET! Ok so basically Lauri has been doing her thing and she has a show airing on the WE channel starting September 7, 2008. Below I have posted the schedule, a premiere clip and an address to her site and web blog. Please if you know of anyone that may be getting married, having a special event or occasion or just want some REALLY high quality baking or chocolates. Have a look at the show, give a shout through email or call my friend Lauri Ditunno. Trust me when I tell you she's GREAT at what she does. She has worked for the French Culinary Institute here in New York for several years as well. Check out her blog for more in depth details on her backround please. www.wetv.com/amazing-wedding-cakes/blogs/lauri-ditunno
As always thanks for stopping by to check the blogs! Have a wonderful evening, - Ed Marshall
I've been blessed to be able to do something I truly love to do. And individuals have been a great help with letting me know if I am on the right track. There are times when I just feel like I'm not doing enough. I want so very hard to improve in my shooting and also make it possible for people to want to search for those artists and bands I capture. I had the great opportunity of meeting Chuck Treece recently. For those who don't know ( And I hate to say I didn't have a clue until I saw him perform and I googled him) Mr. Treece is a legendary skateboarder and even more incredible multi-instrumentalist. Well we had an enail conversation recently and something he said to me truly made me realize that there are folks that get it! He said" WHAT U AND WHAT I DO IS ALL A PART of one vision. Made my day let me tell ya! Also recently received an email about this link too. Now I hope I'm not coming off as if I am bragging? Maybe I am a little but it's more me just expressing how grateful I am that people appreciate what I am trying to do. And I am also sharing with my friends that may be interested in what I have been up to. I am hoping to update this myspace page finally, but first I have to finish getting through all my Afropunk Festival coverage. And some other projects I have to finish. Hope everyone is well and I guess we'll blog again soon!
Also want to give a special thanks for the shout out from my man Piff in California!

Had the opportunity to see Mr.Williams perform some of his works at Cornerstone offices here in NYC. First time I saw him perform it was at SXSW in Austin. This is Spoken Word to the next level.
If you ever have the chance to catch a show do so.
If you find yourself in Brooklyn this weekend make your way to one or both of these events if you can. BAM is a beautiful venue, with great sounds and visuals brought to you by the URB ALT Festival. Check out this blog for what you missed on the 21st of June.

"URB ALT Festival features artists that are exemplars of boundary crossing, synthesis and unification." – The Village Voice
NEW YORK, NY (May 17, 2008) - The third annual URB ALT Festival brings the bleeding edge of multi-cultural music/film artists to New York City's Harlem Stage Gatehouse and BAMcafe. On the first day of summer June 21st in conjunction with the city-wide Make Music NY, the three day URB ALT Festival launches from the Harlem Stage Gatehouse terrace with a 7 hour outdoor concert event. The festival, hosted by co-founder Shena Verrett, celebrates the legacy of Sun Ra as fused through the musical and visual creativity of internationally recognized and underground artists. Events are free with a $10 suggested donation for adults going towards registration for URB ALT gift raffles and voter registration initiatives through Rock the Vote. For more information contact Michelle at 917.328.0367 or girlsonmedia@hotmail.com
The opening day at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse features the avant-garde bass mastery of Melvin Gibbs(Rollins Band, Harriet Tubman); the soulful alternative hip hop/funk of Atlantan, Stacy Epps; the "Chocolate Rain" afforded musical ubiquity of Tay Zonday; the cosmic jazz vocal stylings of Los Angelino, Waberi Jordan; the soul laced protorock melodicism of Tenderhead; the electronica infused funk/rock of OMG; the funky blues rock of Devi; the folk/soul of honey voiced crooner Kendal; the Latin rock/punk experimentalism of Millsted; and the futuristic big band exploratory missions of the MuthaWit Orchestra(URB ALT Festival house band). Artists will be performing their original material as well as a composition from Sun Ra's songbook.
URB ALT founder Boston Fielder, says "Sun Ra is a beacon for creators of all mediums who want to explore the connection between the spirit, entertainment and commerce. The Sun Ra Arkestra was/is a functioning politico-economic-social system that I was exposed to early in life as my cousin was a mainstay drummer for the group. It's an honor to present some of Sun Ra's compositions to our audience."
June 27th and 28th finds the URB ALT Festival crossing the river into Brooklyn where the events dock at the popular BAMcafe. These two special nights of the URB ALT Festival close out the BAMcafe Live season by featuring the soul/rock gypsy sound of Brig Feltus with members of Pillow Theory; the polyphonic harp virtuosity of Brandee Younger(Ravi Coltrane); the LES reggae/rock/soul power of Faith; the rock/soul/pop songcraft mastery of V. Jeffrey Smith(Family Stand); the punk/pop/rock runway histrionics of Tenderhead; and a special collaboration between the MuthaWit Orchestra and two very special guests. Both nights will feature the computer generated? projections of Italy based visual artist Roy Lagrone, The Matrix film series animation director Lyndon Barrois and "Harbinger" feature film director Tim Fielder.
Raffle tickets for Apple Computer products, a Daisy Rock Guitar, Airline gift certificates and more prizes included with the $10 donation. Various raffle winners will be announced and awarded during the course of each event.
Food and retail vendor space for June 21st outdoor event is available by contacting Michelle at 917-328-0367 or girlsonmedia@hotmail.com. Space is limited.

Why NYC after Ed Marshall Photography you ask?

Hey everyone! So today I had a very funny conversation with a man at the County Clerks office here in Brooklyn. Well first off I started my day pretty early and got lots done. Headed over to the County Clerk's office around 1pm after the early running. I was actually quite excited about seeing how empty the place was. Walked up to the window after the lady before me and the man at the window was very cool. We talked about Incorporating etc and then came the question. Hey so Ed, "Why do you have NYC after Ed Marshall Photography if you live in Brooklyn?" Well I kind of looked at him and said, " I have my reason, but what do you think it is?" He replied, " Because your the best photography in all of New York City?" I laughed and said, Don't you think if I were you would have heard of me?" He proceeded to let me know how much older and out of touch he was and said even if I was he might not know. So I let him hang on a few seconds of silence and I explained myself. " Ya see Joe... the reason I put NYC after Ed Marshall Photography is because there is a man out of Ohio named Ed Marshall and he shoots pornography! (You can google the name to confirm this if you like.) Joe laughed so hard I thought he was going to fall off his chair. And as he swiped and was about to send me to the pay window he said, "Yeah I guess that would make your clientele a little different huh? "Ok go over to window 3 and you should be all set!" "UH OH! As soon as he hit enter all the computers went out! He looked at me and said, "Well Ed looks like it's time for lunch!" Gotta love folks that have jobs working for the city. So I was in at 1:05pm out at 3:12pm... I should have made the story shorter I might have been out 3 minutes before the power surge?!
Well at least I'm not shooting porn right? - Ed Marshall

So I had heard really good things about this brother a while back but never had the opportunity to see him do his thing live. Mr. Morgan was cool enough to let me know when he was in town and asked if I would capture a few shots. It was truly a great time had by all. - Ed Marshall
