The Grainger Ghosts and musicians wanted:)

Hello world,
Thank you all for the great comments and messages, I am sorry I am behind with replying, big things are happening.
I've uploaded a brand new demo today called 'The Grainger Ghosts' hope you like it.

I am on the search for versatile musicians any age or ability to form a gigging band. I was recently contacted by a producer from Channel 4 television and have been asked to take part in a new show looking for the most talented bands in the UK. Anyone interested in being part of the madness that is EMSV send me a message.

Much love,
Tone
Xx.

The Grainger Ghosts (words and music by Tony Tooke 16/07/2008)

You can sink or swim,
You can laugh or shout about it,
In this town of sin,
We get by oh how we try to hold are heads up high.

We are the Grainger ghosts,
We are the Grainger ghosts,
And we're making the most,
Of our time,

They took away our green,
It's all a concrete wilderness,
Got to keep it clean,
We get by oh how we try to hold are heads up high.

We are the Grainger ghosts,
We are the Grainger ghosts,
And we're making the most,
Of our time,

As you walk the street,
Friendly faces everywhere,
All the people you meet,
We get by oh how we try to hold are heads up high.

We are the Grainger ghosts,
We are the Grainger ghosts,
And we're making the most,
Of our time,

extra ordinary ways
Current mood: artistic
Category: Music

Greetings,
I recorded a new demo today using my new equipment, it's a bit rough at the mo, I may finish it.
It was written on the ukulele and I used a swannee whistle through a ring modulator for the sweeping sound fx.
The brass section is the Miroslav orchestral plug in for protools.
Hope you like it,
much love,
Tony
Xx.

Extra ordinary ways
(words and music by Tony Tooke 03/07/2008)

I want to sleep under the sun,
I feel my life has just begun,

But it's a cold, cold day in May,
And she don't like what the papers say,
In extra ordinary ways,

Lost in the forest of your mind,
She can be just as hard to find

But it's a cold, cold day in May,
And she don't like what the papers say,
In extra ordinary ways,

And I hope that she exists,
That could be something that I missed

She is everything I'm not,
I'm from the land that time forgot,

But it's a cold, cold day in May,
And she don't like what the papers say,
In extra ordinary ways,

I took a trip down to the bay,
I need her more than words can say.

But it's a cold, cold day in May,
And she don't like what the papers say,
In extra ordinary ways.

Please vote for me on the F400 Share myspace app
Current mood: thankful
Category: Music

I'm always wanting:) I hope some of you could find time to vote for me on the F400 Share app. It's to win a  track being part of the Samsung F400 ad campaign. The link to the myspace app should be on the right hand side of my profile but a few people mentioned it's not there. So below is an alternative link.
http://f400share.com/
I've also been informed it's quite hard to find me, if you click listen and vote and select top tracks I should be about third or fourth in the list with the song 'Placid Casualty'

I greatly appreciate your time,
Much love,
Tony

Peas and luv,
Tone

The Placid Casualty (words and music by Tony Tooke 11/06/2008)

It's a long way down,
Said the placid man,
In a corner I slept,
Casualty of regret,

I asked the moon,
To stay a while,
With no tomorrow,
I will see you smile,

Shine down on me,
Said the placid man,
It's out of control,
Things are better that way,

Let time stand still,
Said the placid man,
Show me the way back home,
Said the placid man.

The Theatre of Odd
Current mood: artistic

Hello,
I uploaded a new track called 'The Theatre of Odd' written and recorded today. It's a strange harpsichord 3/4 timing experiment.
I think I might be on BBC 6 Music on Saturday night between Midnight and 2:00am although this is not confirmed.

Peace and love,
Tony

The Theatre of Odd (words and music by Tony Tooke 20/05/2008)

Anticipation for the show,
Spectacular ways for the mind to grow,
What will they do?
What will they say?
The theatre of odd is here today.

A trick a treat of truth and lies,
Open your eyes you are hypnotised
Balancing, juggling
Spinning around,
Talking to you without a sound.

Follow me down, down my friend,
Follow me down, down my friend
Follow me down to the theatre of odd.

The curtain raised the fear sinks in,
No time to breathe the show begins,
No turning back,
No turning away,
The theatre of odd is here today

a colourful journey heading nowhere...
Current mood: awake
Category: Music

Greetings fellow space cadets,
I have uploaded a new little ditty called 'a colourful journey heading nowhere', it's about never quite getting where you want to be but having fun along the way and a parody of the late Albert Hoffman's famous bike ride home after discovering L.S.D
Hope you have time to check  it out,
Peace and love,
Tony

A colourful journey heading nowhere
(Words and music by Tony Tooke 11/05/2008)

Come with me on the magic ship,
There's room enough for you,
High amongst the velvet clouds,
Of constant changing hue,

The captain dreams telescopic dreams,
He always knows or so it seems,
He talks of lands far from here,
In the minds of all who can see clear,

When my feet don't touch the ground,
I know the ship is near,
When the waves turn into sound,
I know the captains here,

A colourful journey for you and me,
Heading nowhere,
A sacred voyage beyond the sun,
I will take you there.

Peppermint Placebos (words and music by Tony Tooke 01/05/2008)

Stay in bed I'm under fed,
I don't mind,
I feel fine,
Back pain neck strain, walking with the insane,
I don't mind,
I feel fine,

Cos those pills they're gonna,
They're gonna save me,
Cos those pills they're gonna,
They're gonna save me,
Cos those pills they're gonna,
Save me and you,

Wish I could fly, I'm ever so high,
I don't mind,
I feel fine,
The birds and the bees are looking at me,
I don't mind,
I feel fine,

Peppermint breath, drink to death,
I don't mind,
I feel fine,
Paranoid, unemployed, null and void,
I don't mind,
I feel fine,

One a day keeps the demons away.

Bohemian Dropout
Current mood: artistic
Category: Music

Hello peeps,
I have uploaded a new psychedelic track called 'Bohemian Dropout' I wrote it last night after to much sherbet dip and recorded it this morning, it feature my new 12 string pictured bellow with my bass.
Much luv,
Tone
Xx.

Bohemian Dropout (words and music by Tony Tooke 17/04/2008)

He's a walking curiosity,
Eccentric visionary,

Flask full of brandy,
A bag of coughing candy,

He's a parody of himself,
Keeps his mind on the highest shelf,

Top hat, umbrella,
Fingers stained yellow,
He's such a strange fella,
The pocket watch seller,

Please don't laugh at me please,
Please don't laugh at me,

It comes as no surprise,
Every clock is synchronised,

Chains of silver and gold,
A history never told.

well I've stopped trying - better explained:)
Current mood: relieved
Category: Music

After over a year on myspace and thousands of pounds spent it is obvious now I ain’t going to make a penny from music. I have spent sleepless nights on forums etc. plugging and promoting EMSV but without a gigging band and a major label to pay for exposure it ain’t worth it.
I’d like to thank everyone for the support and successful bands like MGMT for keeping me in their top friends as they take on the world.
Bad Acid magazine for giving me the chance to earn a little bit for page design and Sonic Boom from Spacemen3 who as showed interest in me to design a cover for him (fingers crossed)
It does seem my visual art gets more attention and I’m chasing a pipe dream with music.
I will never stop creating music and if anyone needs a producer I’m well equiped, but I must sober up and grow up.

Bless you all,
Tony Tooke

UPDATE
Thank you every one for all the kind and inspiring messages. I thought I’d better explain a bit better to aviod confusion.
Im not quiting music I will still be posting new tracks, Im not deleting my profile.

I feel I have taken EMSV as far as can by myself and I really need someone to take over and take the pressure off so I can concentrate on the music.
People aren’t understanding why I turned down two chances to support MGMT. I just can’t afford to travel yet and need musicians willing to put everything in and I get ignored by a jealous and competative music seen up here in Newcastle-Upon Tyne.
I have only just stopped taking my medication and have started getting out the house a bit more often. 3 years ago I was gigging, but a violent attack and a bad depression through the loss of my Father has knocked me back.
Things have happened too quickly and I’m helpless to take it to the next stage. I will find that band and maybe I  have missed the chances I’ve been lucky to have, but at least I know my music has reached out and my efforts to not conform and be my crazy musical self have been accepted  by a lot of  people dear to me in the virtual world.
I have lots more to give, I’m just burnt out.

Much love,
Tony

Daisy the groovy cow
Current mood: ashamed
Category: Music

Hello, I have recorded and uploaded another silly track called Daisy, I recorded it last night after a few too many wines. Its written on the ukulele and I added tuba for extra sillyness.
Hope you enjoy it, I think I’m going mad
Peas on earth,
Tony

Daisy (the groovy cow)
(words and music by Tony Tooke 2008)

Oh daisy,
You are so very lazy,
And you graze here daily,
You are a groovy cow!

It’s sunny,
And you’re never in a hurry,
And you don’t seem to worry,
’cos you’re a groovy cow!

You sit down when it’s raining,
You stand up when it’s fine,
I wish I could be just like you,
Happy all the time.
