Update on the DIVA Contest
Category: Writing and Poetry

What round is this now? 5 maybe 6?  Ack, I have lost count. lol

Last week was an anonymous talent round and I shared an excerpt from a free read I am developing for my new Southern Blood series I am writing.  But that series is in the very early stages so there isn't much I can share yet.

This week the remaining 16 authors are being judged on an alternative site to their website. i.e. MySpace, Facebook, etc. I have entered this MySpace site and well, the votes have been less than stellar so far. lol  Maybe it's time for a myspace revamp. What do you think?

So, if you haven't visited The Romance Studio lately I hope you will hop on over to http://www.theromancestudio.com and click on the DIVA banner and consider voting.

Anyone up for a goody bag filled with fun book marks, buttons, postcards and my cool new recipe brochure celebrating my upcoming Vampire book this fall?

If so, leave a comment and i'll draw a couple of names to send the goodies to.

Have a good one.

Recent Books from fellow Romance Divas!!!
Category: Writing and Poetry

Passion Unbound: Wanton Nights by Tawny Taylor
cover art by Sahara Kelly
Genre(s): Paranormal, Daemonum, BDSM
Theme(s): Ménage, Bisexual and More
Length: Novella

If you could be kidnapped by any man, who would it be?

And thus it was from the beginning of time. Two knights. One bride. They whispered their story to The Chosen, a human endowed with the gift of Hearing… The Chosen
wrote the story and released it into the human world. The bait was set. The spell was cast. And then they waited… (An excerpt from the Ierd Kimeno, the sacred text of the Twelfth Knight Brotherhood)

Kaitlin Doyle had devoured many a steamy romance novel -- bondage stories, ménage stories, stories about vampires and warriors and werewolves. But her all-time favorite was Her Dark Knights. The heroes, Cayne and Ronan, were fallen angels. Demons! Who would have ever thought that she'd find evil beings so freaking sexy? Or that she'd fantasize about being possessed by two darkly seductive Masters? But still, that was just fantasy. Her naughty little secret. It could never happen in real life.

Then again, maybe it could…

One minute she's sleeping in her bed, the next she's dragged into the world of her favorite author's imagination. And those sinfully gorgeous fallen angels are about to make her darkest fantasies reality. She'd never dreamed it was possible, that she could surrender to her secret desires.

Ohhhh, the wanton pleasure…

Psyche's startled at first, but willing to overlook a few idiosyncrasies while they get to know each other in person. Their relationship flourishes--until the night Psyche's curiosity gets the better of her.

Light reveals that E is Eros, the Greek god of love and desire, and he is furious that she broke her word. She begs for forgiveness, but he won't give it. In breaking her word, she broke his trust. She must seek help from a goddess and brave the dangers of the underworld in order to prove herself and win back the man she loves.

Things aren't always as they seem. Convinced she was the ugly duckling in a gaggle of swans, Pyper discovers that her childhood crush has had some fantasies of his own. Amidst the threat of losing everything she holds dear she learns that sometimes a crush can become a reality.

Secrets of Summer

by Tara S Nichols

It has been years since Pyper has seen any sign of Liam Patterson so she is surprised when he reappears outside his old stomping grounds. More surprising is when he addresses her by her name. By the looks of Liam very little had changed about the beach loving playboy. He was just as handsome and just as flirtatious, although it never was her he had been flirting with, until now. As their secrets unravel both summer residents are faced with the thought of never returning to Victoria Beach, the place where their fantasies began.

Available April 18th from Cobblestone-press!

The Fewest of The Few
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

It's that time again. For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while you know that I served my Country in the military. That I am a U.S. Marine. While I may not be serving on active duty now, I am a U.S. Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine. That's how the saying goes, yet it's far more reaching than a catchy slogan.

No matter what era you served in there is a certain honor and pride that comes with your time in the military. The training, the friendships, the duties and the belief in what you are doing all combine to teach you what you are really made of. Thanks to the Corps I know exactly how tough I can be, how fragile life is and exactly what it means to fight for freedom. I am a U.S. Marine.

Today I want nothing more than to pause and remember all of that. Think of the fallen heroes, my time in the Marines as well as all of those who have served or currently do. They deserve all the honor we can give them, not just today, but everyday. I found a couple of videos that do just that, pay tribute to both the men and women of the military.

My Marine Corps:

A Tribute to the women of the Miltary:

Have a great holiday everyone and thank you for letting me share.

Be a DIVA - Round 2 and WINNERS!
Category: Writing and Poetry

Round 2 in The Romance Studio be a DIVA contest began yesterday.  Unlike Round 1 this is not an anonymous round because you the readers are judging our websites.  Please go and check out the authors listed and their websites and cast your vote for your favorite.

Now for some reason MySpace does not like either my website or The Romance Studio websites, both perfectly safe and disease free. So you will have to copy and paste the URL's listed below into a new browser to get there.

http://www.theromancestudio.com/diva.php

http://www.elizagayle.com

Don't forget to let me know you voted so you can be entered to win an eBook from my backlist this week.

As for last week's winners...

They are Stacia and Robin Renee Ray.  Please send me a message and let me know your email and choice of book (you can see what's available on the website) as well as what format you would like.

Congrats!

Who wants to be a Diva and more free goodies
Category: Writing and Poetry

Oh, Oh, Oh, I wanna be a Diva. A Studio Diva that is...

The Romance Studio has launched a fun new contest for romance readers -- the TRS Studio Diva Competition. A contest where you the readers get to judge romance writers on various criteria.  There are chances for readers to win over 50 prizes and if you make it to the end of the post you can learn how to win even more with me. *smiles*

All you have to do is visit http://www.theromancestudio.com/diva.php to participate in the First Round of the contest. From their website, here's the official low-down:

"Thirty nine competing authors have submitted a 750-1000 word excerpt (actual word count) written exclusively for this competition, based on a scenario randomly selected from a pool submitted to us by romance readers. These excerpts are being presented anonymously to voters so the talent can be judged on its own merit.

"Voting opens on Monday 5/5/08 and concludes on Friday 5/16/08 for round one. "

Here's the set-up for the excerpted scenes: "Character A is a quirky critic who's secretly attracted to Character B, an eccentric artist who lives in the apartment right above Character A. Character A is on a deadline to get his/her review finished but Character B is making a lot of noise and it's very distracting."

Contestants who make it through the first round go on to compete in nine more, with entrants earning the least votes each round being eliminated. The last man or woman standing, so to speak, will be "crowned" the TRS Studio Diva.

Now since I am not allowed to reveal now which excerpt is mine (nope can't even give you a hint), I thought it might be fun to see who can guess correctly which one is mine.

Just go to the site listed above, read the excerpts and cast your vote for your favorite.  Then come back here and post which excerpt number you voted for.  At the end of the contest or when I am eliminated, whichever comes first, I will take the ones who guessed my excerpt correctly and enter them in a drawing for a box of books and promo goodies from the RT convention. Yes, after boxing up the three boxes for last weeks winners I found I still have more to give away.

In the meantime, just for going to the site and voting I will draw 2 lucky winners each round for a free ebook from my backlist.

So go vote and let's have some fun. I can't wait to see what you all have to say.

**If the link above doesn't work, please copy and paste the address into a new browser window.  Myspace is just a pill about links these days.  This is not spam.  http://www.theromancestudio.com/diva.php *

Have a good one,

Eliza

RT Video - Last chance to win free books

Look i'm here. I didn't disappear. LOL

I returned from the Romantic Times Convention to two books to edit and not feeling all too well,  and after several days of fighting something I finally ended up in bed for the weekend. Yuck!

But i'm getting back to normal and working like crazy on lots of new projects.  I will try to post some news about that later in the week.

For now I have made a little video about my Romantic Times Convention adventure, so I hope you will take a look.  All comments from this post as well as the last post will be put in the drawing for the boxes of free books and goodies I have to send out so you still have a chance to win.  I will announce the winner on Thursday.

Have a good one,

Eliza

RT in Pittsburgh and a Contest

This week I am in Pittsburgh at the annual Romantic Times Booklovers Convention.  As usual is fun as well as hectic.  We don't get a lot of sleep here. lol

I've played with cover models, ogled thriller writer Barry Eisler, signed books at the e expo and sat on a marketing panel talking about book videos.

Phew.  Three more days to go and tiiiiirrrrreeeed. lol

Here's a pic from the 1st night.  I'm draped across the hunky John Fish who is the Ellora's Cave entry in the cover model contest. Hubba Hubba.  Also pictured in the front are two of my blog mates at the Kiss and Tell blog, Samantha Kane and Mari Freeman.

It's time for my annual RT Reader Contest.  For those of you unable to attend RT, I will be bringing lots of goodies and free books back with me to give away here.

To be entered into the drawing for a free box of RT goodies and books, just comment here on the blog.  I will be posting as much as I can for the next few days and every comment you leave gets you an extra chance to win.

I'm off to help out at the All Romance eBooks booth and will check back in later.

Have a good one,

Eliza
