news! signed books and other good things - sales@v6lur.ee

Hello.

Have to let you know that my book is now published by a new beautiful publishing company in Estonia called Võluri Tagasitulek (Return of the Wizard). It's a small company active in Estonia's underground art scene, open to new ideas and beautiful projects.
I also publish my children's books with them and do have a lot of control over my work and the way it is distributed.

So . . . if you wish to have a copy of my poetry book "The Pain in the Beautiful Answer" or wish to have more copies of it - this is the best way to buy it. (unless you are in Paris where the alternative is to go to Shakespeare and company bookshop and get hold of a copy there)

Cost of one book is 10.50 euro + postal expenses. Which is the least expensive way for you to buy it and actually the most profitable way for me.
(in case you wish to sell the book in your bookshop, gallery . . . etc - ask for special offers)

There is also the possibility of signed copies !

So - write to the address:

sales@v6lur.ee

to order a copy/many copies/signed copies etc.

----------------------------
In case you don't know about the book yet, you can go to my blog and read my new works - if you like them, you will most likely be very happy with the book. It contains work from a period of one year, the seasonal changes of inner and outer landscapes being strongly present. The book can probably be best described as an attempt to map soulscapes with as much honesty as possible. "The Pain in the Beautiful Answer" is probably one of the first (if not the first) poetry books by an Estonian that has been written in English, these are not translations but poems as they came to me. The reasons for writing in a foreign tongue are most of all personal - you can judge for yourself if the result works for you.
The book came because there was a community of readers who needed it and whose work i have needed in turn.
these poems are also a base for many musical collaborations which you can listen to on my voice page - 'ellom in voice', my top one friend.

oh to be close

My mother is the sun she said
Before she fell asleep
So that's why i feel
Like i have been dying
For millions of years
So that's why i can't reach the moon
So that's why they like me
From afar but cannot stand
To be close

underground

Where are your wings
Damnit
When i wake you
In the middle of the night
And say
NOW we need to
Escape
This burning world
Where are they

The misfits
Constantly think of their wings
Poison on the wingscars is so painful
Constantly they touch the ashes
Where their wings were burned
Constantly and mournfully
Misfits think of nothing but wings

But where are your wings
Now that you are happy
Where are your wings
Now your scars don't hurt
When i wake you
In the middle of the night
On the way across
A wide and dark ocean
When i say we need to
Escape this burning world
Now
Damnit
You are happy and deaf and blind

feverish sharp

Oh it is one of those feverish nights
I want to ache all over
It's better when it's sharp

Look at how pale that girl is
And look at how fast she is flying
It would be better for her
If she knew the directions
Very well
Let us hope she does
Let us have something to drink now
To calm down
The more it burns the easier
It is to bear

Oh look at how pale she is
She should
Know the directions very clear
She is raving
About loneliness
Does she really know
What it means

Everybody's raving about loneliness but has
Anyone known what it means

accept admire adore/ saddest films

And what is warmth if not longing for warmth

You wrote the saddest films
The ones where old men
Reach for the only spark
In their long and cold
Childhoods

And what is warmth if not longing for warmth

You needed a woman
To be soft and warm
And strong to hold you
Like a child
Not any child
But the one who is lost in the woods
And in the storm
In fairy tales less often
Than in every day

And what is warmth if not longing for warmth

Accept
Admire
Adore it
I do
If it all goes wrong
I will cry new worlds
Lets lie down
and gather most carefully
The coins
And remember
The currency that pays here
Is tears

that town

It is good to fall out of love
And finally have the colours back
Finally to be an equal among
Colours and sounds
It is harder
To slowly learn the smiling side of loneliness
It gets
Really bad
I am not used
To good things
To travel with an empty heart
And finally to have the colours back
For my own

For my own

It is so
Beautiful to fall out of love

a prayer too late

The sky is not clear

But the water is not tired

Underwater swimming

Save me

Save me from the memory of colour red

Veins have burned

It is too sharp for them

The recovery

Too sharp a turning

Please

Let me fall

More softly for

When i close my eyes

To daydream

Of homeland

I see

Ashes under water

lighthearted people of the new world

I could not have
Called you my brother
If i had said it
To anyone else
Lighthearted boy of the new world
You said
'Yes' and 'No'

I had two sisters
One turned away
Lighthearted girl of the new world
Every new wind changes everything for her
She said 'Yes' and 'No'

Lighthearted boy of the new world
All you ever did with the gifts you said you cherished
Was touch and go
All you ever did with my skin and my spirit
Was touch and go
Lighthearted boy
I say
'Yes' or 'No'

Blessed is the day when you did not return
Blessed is my freedom of dance
My heart
Is heavy and old
And knows what fire is

I say 'No'
To you now i say
'No'

when

Do not think of me
When glaciers grow and gather
When sun sets
And for the first time
You are bit by the sensation
That there is no reason to think
Tomorrow it will rise
Just because it was so
Millions of years
Just because it was so
In all known ages
There is no reason and do not think of me
Do not think of me when the sea is silent
Waves are high and something terrible
Something truly terrible is coming
Do not think of me
When the day is so beautiful
And do not think of me when the ecstasy starts
To rise
Do not think of me when you share soft gifts

Do not think of me

Do not lie

.

the initial inspiration for this poem comes from elsje's painting 'warme bloemen. i love this work. but have forgotten how to create links here. hope elsje comes herself and shows her magic. . .

The red colour is locked

All you have to do
Is remember

It does not help to force
It does not help to memorize
It does not help

Just remember

Were you ever a child in another country
Or were you here
Did you call?
Did you ever call out
Even for once
Did you?
Remember

The red colour is locked
It opens once in a thousand years
Every time you breathe
Is once in thousand years
Have you ever taken a breath
Remember

Call it back
And it tastes

Like salt

humanity

Oh you

You are the collector
Of dust
You stick your tongue out
And taste it

Oh you

You are so young
That i have to memorize
Your gender and your age
Every morning
First thing
Before i awake

Oh you

You are the reminder
Of golden ways
Of the shadows of dancers
Of hues of hidden sides
Of feelings

Oh you

Oh your fire

how

But when i remember you
All lights go out
It's not a matter of seconds
It's about far smaller
Particles of time
Suddenly we are in the timeless world
Underground
I have no scars
Wounds only
Hidden not healed
How when i remember you
All lights go out
Every living being
Turns into absence of its liveliness
Statues
Of salt and stone
Salt and stone and the ghost of hunger
Haunting where no living soul is
Screaming for it
How when i remember you

I Do Not bless you

How
Cold

to the one who was the other

But then the masquerade entered
And it all became
Silk and velvet and the art of creating
Masks of most memorable kind
Silk and velvet
And sharp kitchen knives

I am newborn
I am someone new
So your sister is no more

But then who let in the masquerade
You did and it is a crime beyond laws
If you wished to bring in all those smiling faces
And all those shining eyes you should have stayed
Far far away from the sacred places
Closer to the surface of sugarwords and lies

I am newborn
I am someone new
I will hide from you
Every sacred thing that i might come across
No matter how small
In my new lands

Your sister

Your sister is no more

i will be in towns . . .

i wonder if you have any suggestions - about places where to stay, where to perform, what to see . . . - or if you might just be interested in hearing me.

or do i have collaborators or collaborators-to-be in these towns, so we could perform together?

in summer i'll be:

in TARTU - performing in a café in the end of june, opening a photo exhibition of a very good friend. an old acquaintance on guitar, me whispering my words.

in PARIS - the end of july and the beginning of august. doing some performing, planning some future events, bringing some books with me and looking for contacts among beautiful publishers/presses. discovering the town, meeting friends and strangers . . .

in BERLIN - earlier in july or maybe august. or both, for i am kind of obsessed with that town. would really love to perform, especially with beautiful musicians, meeting friends and collaborators, getting drunk on the town, meeting people, bringing books . . . all of it.

hopefully within this year i'll be:

in GREECE - athens definitely, to meet collaborators and friends and strangers and wizards and ambassadors and read poetry. i'd also like to visit patra to meet a conspirator of mine. of course i'd like to visit many places in greece and perform and be inspired.

to US EAST COAST - New York - Woodstock - Boston. To perform and collaborate and pose naked. and meet people. and landscapes.

maybe to BOLOGNA - to take part in a beautiful poetry festival in autumn and meet all kinds of folks. still not clear, but let us hope.

..............

if you happen to live in any of those places and would love to meet for talk and coffee or to organize a performance of mine or to work together on something or have any other ideas . . . send me a note please. the more work i can do in one place, the happier i am to come there. and to invest in tickets . . .

...................

i also will start working on my ellom in voice collaborations album this summer. and there are other beautiful things in early phases that may start growing as soon as i've finished with the moving madness and successfully settled at chestnut street.
