Don’t try this at home! (or while you are driving!)

Unless your Steve-O, don't have your friends try to take your photo while you are driving away! Anyway, I wanted to bring you along with me to the studio today so here I am on my way. It was a crazy moment. That's one of my favorite caps, I don't really know why. I actually "permanently borrowed" it from my friend Anastasia. I grew up with her, she was my best friends' older sister, and she always seemed to be the ultimate in cool for me. Anyway, she let me nick this from her, and I'm very grateful!

hope you're all having a good day

Green thumb? .... What green thumb?

Soo.. Confession...I'm not really the type of girl who likes to dig in the dirt or do anything too dirt-y. I mean, I'll hike, I'll sleep in a tent or in a sleeping bag in the woods, but for some reason I really don't like to garden. I don't enjoy the whole dirt-caked-under-the-nails-thing. My mother, on the other hand, LOVES to garden. She'll be out there digging with her bare hands until the sun goes down. We'll be driving along side of the road and she'll name every species of variegated miscanthus (some kind of grass or something), hibiscus and perennial woody plant. I think that last one is "smart" for tree. She takes it very seriously. So, once in a while I play along like I enjoy it as well, just to make her happy. And, as much as I don't want to admit it, I actually end up having an okay time. The whole planting thing is pretty relaxing and the digging actually reminds me of playing with playdoh and other things as a kid. (Remember Lincoln Logs?) Anyway, here's me, trying out my green thumb, not too unhappy to be spending my Sunday digging and planting. Anyway, we do these kinda things for our moms, right? Gotta love 'em.

ps: note the big yellow gloves, very usefull!!! haha

Snack Time
Current mood: snacking

Confession: I am having a love affair with Crispix.

Yes, I said Crispix. As in, the cereal.

I love it truly. Madly. Deeply.

I find myself waking at 2pm, slowly wandering into the kitchen and "visiting" Crispix. IE: pouring a bowl and consuming with a delicate frenzy. Just a little drizzle of honey here, and a little bit of banana there, and it's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. If you haven't had this delicious wheat-free cereal, you are truly missing out. I recommend you drop whatever you are doing right now, yes, you, and go to your closest bodega and get a box. It's great even without milk.

PS: Cinnamon has become a big time cuddler. He doesn't mess around. He just likes to cuddle. He's also a kisser, which is really kind of gross, with doggie breath and all, but I give him denta bones so he's minty fresh. Definitely a plus! Here we are last night cuddling in the car. Thanks for indulging my pet love.
Hope you are all having a great week!

Enjoying the Last Days of Summer

After a couple hours in the studio today, I am trying to relax by the pool. I think I must have been a fish in a past life 'cause I can never stay out of the water for too long. I probably shower twice a day and I could lay in a bubble bath for hours. Even in my films I always end up the water. Day After Tomorrow? Water scene. Poseidon? In the water. Even Phantom of the Opera had a lake! Anyway, here I am chillin in the pool. Like my retro swim suit? The visor is a little corny but staying out of the sun as much as possible is really important!

Current mood: I’ve got the giggles!

Hey Guys!

Just thought I'd share some cute pics of the puppies. For some reason, perhaps because they are angels, Cin and Sug LOOOVE bathtime. Even more than the tub and getting all sudsed up, the LOVE the blow-dry that follows. Mostly they play with the dryer chords and try to run away from what I can only imagine they assume is some strange magical device that blows warm air! There's nothing better than cuddling with clean smelling pooches under the covers and watching a movie. That's on the agenda for tonight. Here's cin and Sug during blow dry time! Sugar is 5 pounds of PERFECT!

kisses

Here's one more pic of summer!

This was a pretty cool experience. If you've all been checking out my youtube videos at my youtube channel at youtube.com/emmyrossumchannel you might have heard me answer "dolphin" to the question "if you could be any animal other than a human what would you choose?" Well, this is about as close as I'll get! The dolphin's skin is so smooth and soft, they are are the sweetest, most intelligent creatures. It was an awesome, albeit a little man-made, experience. Very memorable. Check out my dolphin smooch! Hope you are enjoying what's left of the summer.

Race for the Cure
Current mood: encouraged

This weekend I sang the national anthem and then ran in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in Central park. It was a very emotional day, with almost two thousand survivors running in the race, people telling their stories. It was an honor for me to be part of it, having grown up in a family that went through breast cancer. Seeing the daughters and sons of women who lost their battle to breast cancer was very difficult, but it also reminds us of the hard work we still have to put in to find a cure and make this disease a thing of the past. I ran with a lot of friends and family and it was quite uplifting. Here are some pics of us in a photo booth that was in Central park, we look very sweaty and relieved to be at the finish line. Thank you to all you who give your time and contributions to SGK, it's been amazing for me to be involved with the Pinkitude campaign and I intend to be part of this fight for the long haul.
Love and strength

Birthday Weekend
Current mood: content

Hi!

So much to tell you, sorry I've been crazy busy the last few days, running around, celebrating my birthday, and running in (and singing the National Anthem for) the Susan G Komen race for the cure on Sunday in Central Park.
Wanted to share with you some pics from my bday dinner, it was very very fun, just a bunch of family and friends (no crazy party at a nightclub!), and a LOT of food – I mean, almost 3 pieces of gluten free white chocolate mouse cheesecake! I love bdays, I wish I could celebrate them for the whole month. I ate cupcake topping at 10am, tasti-d-lite at noon, caramel popcorn all afternoon and then the cake after dinner. Phewf! It was an eating marathon. I felt kind of like Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi who holds the world record for eating all those hotdogs!
Here are some pics of the bday girl!

Excited much?

Making a wish:

Oh, delicious cake...

Hope you are all having a great week! Lots of love and talk soon

Attack of the pigeons
Current mood: feather-y

To whom it may concern (lol)

As some of you may know, I'm a born and bred New Yorker. There's kind of an unspoken agreement between New Yorkers and the other most prevalent creatures roaming the streets, the PIGEONS.

"You don't come near me, and I wont come near you"

In New York, they are everywhere: on the street, nesting on our window sills, hopping around at our feet looking for leftovers while we munch a sandwich at an outside restaurant. But they pretty much leave us alone. In the 22 years that I've lived in NYC, I've never touched a pigeon or felt a wing even graze me.

Today, that changed.

Strolling home from the gym, an iced starbucks drink in my hand, minding my own business and enjoying the sun on my face, I was attacked by two pigeons! They must have thought I will a very large walking bread crumb or something, because they flew directly at my face and tried to land on my shoulders. What am I, Mary Poppins? If I wasn't so freaked out and flailing around hysterically on the corner of 65th street, I might have broken into song "Feed the birds, toppence a bag!"

Passers by on the street stared at me with a mixture of relief (that it wasn't them being attacked by the birds) and a little bit of horrification. ANYWAY, the two pigeons quickly realized that I was NOT in fact a large walking bread crumb or whatever lunchable they thought I was, and lost interest, flying away. Of course, the rest of the walk home I assumed I had contracted legionairre's disease or psittacosis and went home to scrub and shower and take 10 vitamin Cs. ps: I'm not usually such a hypochondriac! but I'm sneezing as I write this! haha!

It was a very exciting morning in NYC. That's what's great about my home town, it's never boring!!! Anyway, I used to have a parakeet so don't take this post to mean I have bird-o-phobia, I love birds, I just don't wanna make-out with the street pigeons. ☺
Hope your day is as exciting as mine is so far!

Lots of love and no more sneezing

First Cupcake of the Day at 10am!

Just wanted to share this with you.... I was over at MTV this morning for an interview, talking about my involvement with the Pinkitude campaign and Susan G Komen for the Cure -- the big race for the cure is this Sunday so if you live in the Tri-state Area you better plan to join us! -- and they were the first ones to celebrate my bday with me. I am allergic to wheat so I couldn't eat the cupcake but I think you'll see I really enjoyed the icing! What can I say, I like icing!!!

check it out here:
