Vicki Pettersson's THE TOUCH OF TWILIGHT comes out today, and we've got some great early reviews.
Angela at SciFiChick really likes it: "Joanna is thrust into the most difficult situations imaginable - from her ex-boyfriend dating an agent of Shadow to dealing with her fellow agents of Light that hate her as well. But she's tough as well as vulnerable, a wonderfully complex character. And as always, the action is a roller coaster ride of thrills and surprises."
"Summer really heats up this May 27th with the publication of THE TOUCH OF TWILIGHT.. A Las Vegas native, Pettersson brings the city and its inhabitants to life. A series that borrows from a lot of different mythologies, Pettersson has thrown them all into a pot, stirred it up and come up with a dish completely delicious and all her own."

Baby Got Book
Current mood: amused
Category: Music
Okay, so I grew up in the '80s and obviously love books, but even without that, this is classic. Children's editor Cheryl Klein has rewritten the immortal lyrics of Sir Mix-a-Lot's 'Baby Got Back,' for books. Totally made my afternoon (and it's not like I needed that tea anyway).
"[Female voice] Oh, my, god. Becky, look at her book. It is so big. *scoff* She looks like, one of those, librarians' girlfriends. But, you know, who understands those librarians? *scoff* They only talk to her, because, she looks like a total bibliovore, 'kay? I mean, her book, is just so big. *scoff* I can't believe it's just so thick. It's like, out there. I mean - gross. Look! She's just so ... smart!"
"I was incredibly excited when I saw that Adam-Troy Castro, one of my favorite short-story writers, had finally published a novel. And Emissaries From The Dead is as great as I'd hoped, a noirish murder mystery set inside an artificial environment created by A.I.s for some unknown purpose.
In addition, THE NEW SPACE OPERA , edited by Gardner Dozois and Jonathan Strahan is nominated in several categories:
BEST ANTHOLOGY
BEST NOVELLA: "Muse of Fire", Dan Simmons
BEST SHORT STORY: "Who's Afraid of Wolf 359?", Ken MacLeod (You can read the story here).
Gardner Dozois is up for Best Editor. And Eos cover artists Stephen Martiniere (THE NEW SPACE OPERA) and John Picacio (TIME'S CHILD and THE MARGARETS) are also nominated.
CONGRATULATIONS ALL!
The full list is here. You can browse all of our nominees by clicking on the book title and then clicking the 'Browse Inside' button.

Sarah Hall's DAUGHTERS OF THE NORTH (published as THE CARHULLAN ARMY in the UK) has won the James Tiptree Jr. Award!
Congratulations Sarah!
In her stunning new novel, Hall imagines a dystopia set in the not-too-distant future. England is in a state of environmental crisis and economic collapse. There has been a census, and all citizens have been herded into urban centers. Reproduction has become a lottery, with contraceptive coils fitted to every female of childbearing age.
A girl who will become known only as "Sister" escapes the confines of her repressive marriage to find an isolated group of women living as "un-officials" in Carhullan, a remote northern farm, where she must find out whether she has it in herself to become a rebel fighter.
We'll have more info on DAUGHTERS OF THE NORTH next week. In the meantime, click here to read sample chapters.
