New York Shows
Current mood: knighted

Greetings.

I will be visiting the noble neighborhoods of Brooklyn and New York in September with a few members of the band along for some tasteful accompaniment as well.

We will be lonely and in need of hospitable people buying us drinks and listening to us sing songs reflecting our nihilistic visions of romance and tender embrace.

11 September 2008 with Mamie Minch

12 September 2008 with James Apollo

13 September 2008 with James Apollo

For details, see the calendar section on my page

I hope you can make it.

-Erich

One man’s desperation is another man’s opportunity. . .

Greetings.
My musical comrades The Cat Hair Ensemble have found themselves with a show next week for which they have no upright bassist.
As any good comrade would do, I will be stepping in to assist the cause of the people (cue heroic music).
Here is the info:

September, 2 2008 at The Scene
806 E. Colorado St., Glendale, California
"It's a full blown rock show! It's our first time at The Scene! It's going to be a blast and a half! Get there early to see Vermouth, grab a good seat for Austin's red-headed stepchildren Mr. Lewis and the Funeral Five, and stay late to hurl insults and shot glasses at Cat Hair Ensemble."

A new (almost) review.

It is always nice to hear the ripples of water when you cast a stone. . .

Here is a link to an honest review.  I like them better that way.

. . . or ever again!
Category: Music

So now you can add liar to your list of pet names for me. The 1930s Jazz Residency seems to be unavoidably gasping its last breaths. I have taken on the project of moving myself and rickety truckload of instruments to a newer and more humble abode - far away from the comforts of a dependable intraveneous drip of Riesling, a pair of reliable wingmen, and harem of talented sirens.
I leave you to your conclusions. . .

In the meantime,
the Orchestra will be working away at their counterpoint. I’ll be looking for the elusive melody/malady.

And I hope to see you soon.

Good things coming in May. . .

No Jazz Residency in March and April 2008
Current mood: frisky
Category: Music

Due to a high volume of non-music related activities (I welcome all speculations), there will be no 1930s Jazz Residency for the months of March and April 2008.

Fret not however, as May will bring the addition of new songs to the repertoire, as well as the introduction of a new guest Songstress to the rotation.

Enjoy the vacation. . .

My latest rant. . .
Category: MySpace

So, today I got an exciting offer per email. I can now increase my page's song plays AND profile views with this convenient new software!

Here is the email:

"~ Erich Von Kneip
By now you've probably heard about the software and the services that will increase your song plays and profile views.
Increasing your daily song plays and profile views consistently will get you on the MySpace "Top Artists" lists where you can get attention from a whole new fan base and noticed by Major Labels and A Reps.
The problem with the services is that they end up costing you a fortune and they often hit you with song plays all at once, which can be obvious to those visiting your page.
Buying the software and doing it yourself is definitely the smart cost effective way to go but most of the software out there gives you very limited control. To be on the Top Artist charts you need consistent plays and views every day. Software that does not allow you to schedule this task and run throughout the day during the times when listeners are normally loged on to myspace are not effective.
Some of the services and software also do not increase your profile views. Having a bunch of song plays and a small amount of profile views looks unrealistic.
Top Artist Promoter increases both your song plays and your profile views. You have complete control and determine how many song plays to give each song and how many profile views you want. Your song plays and profile views will increase realistically throughout the day per your scheduling preferences. Once you are set up you don't even need to be home, everything runs automatically!
Top Artist Promoter has successfully maintained bands in the Top Ten of several different genres. It works awesome!!!
PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR PROFILE PAGE for further details. This state of the art software is being offered at an exceptional price and includes excellent technical support free of charge.
If you have any questions, I Am Here To Help. Please email Mike at: THE EMAIL ADDRESS ON OUR PROFILE PAGE. "

------------------------------

This is my favorite part: "Your song plays and profile views will increase realistically throughout the day per your scheduling preferences. Once you are set up you don't even need to be home, everything runs automatically!"

Hmmmmm, so if I understand correctly, I can now make it look like people are listening to my music in the most convincing way possible. . . without actually having to have anyone listening.

Brilliant.

If only they could get this thing to work at shows: "Your audience count and thunderous applause will increase realistically throughout the show per your scheduling preferences. Once you are set up you don't even need to be on the stage, everything runs automatically!"

"It works awesome!"

Then we musicians could just drink all night AND get paid. Isn't that what we got into this for anyway?

No residency in September 2007
Current mood: ungeduldig

Erich Von Kneip and Steve Marsh will not be appearing in September for their otherwise normally scheduled (first-Friday-of-every-month) residency at Table Ten in Fullerton. You know the one -where Erich and Steve play 3 sets of 1930s Jazz songs, tastefully arranged for Guitar and Violin, while you eat delicious food and drink fancy wines, then lose your sense of inhibition and start flirting with the special guest performers (Ms. Natalie, Mademoiselle Erin, Madame Del, & Doug the Gypsy contrabassist).

Instead, Erich will be dodging impatient bicyclists on the Venloerstrasse, drinking large (metric-sized!) bottles of Reissdorf Koelsch, and meditating on the question: Why, after 200+ years of nationhood, has the United States still not figured out how to bake bread?
