I just got word that the Gold Coast right across the street from the Palms has had a block of rooms open up at the last minute! This is AMAZING news for us, they only have a limited number of rooms available but the rates are GREAT and you can literally walk to the Palms without breaking a sweat even in the desert! If you are already booked at the Orleans you can cancel your room for the next 72 hours, you will need to give your room conformation code and then call up the Gold Coast to book a new reservation. We have no code to offer you so just book it for yourself if you want to change. If you booked through a third party like Expedia then you may have to keep your Orleans reservation. I was at the Palms over the weekend to scope out their Memorial Day events and I can not stress enough the importance of having a weekend pass. The hotel is EXTREMELY CROWDED on the weekends, and they seem to be really big on setting up velvet rope "anticipation lines" to make their clubs look even cooler and more popular than they could possibly be. With that said, even thought we hope to outnumber their regulars, the best advice I can give anyone coming out June 5-8 is to get a weekend pass/wristband. That, and to plan to arrive early for any and all events to scope out your space because it's gonna be tight!
I know, I know: it's cool for the kids to show up late, but not to these shows (not this year, anyway). Please understand that I am doing everything possible to make sure that our guests are granted speedy, respectful entry wherever we want/need to go, but they also have an established formula that works for them, so please plan accordingly--essentially, that means 1) show up early to beat the rush and 2) enjoy the show!
We are almost sold out (90% as of this evening), so I am guessing that by the end of the week we will be completely out of weekend passes and again: once they are gone, that's it.

Sorry to keep people on the edge of their seats, but I have been fielding a TON of emails and simply not sleeping enough. Regarding notifications: Yes, there will be a slight delay in the big public announcement, but everyone who has been selected to compete will be notified this weekend (Sunday at the very latest). Once notified, accepted performers have 72 hours to accept. Then, when we have that info, I'll be able to make the final Saturday lineup public.

P.S.-As we continue to attract more contestants than ever before, a lot of amazingly talented and dedicated people are not going to make it into MEW simply due to time constraints. However, we will have other chances for applicants to perform at other events all weekend long so keep your eyes peeled!
First off, my apologies to anyone who has emailed or called me these last few day and weeks. I'm sorry I haven't been able to get back to many of you, but we've been crazy busy finalizing the details of this year's show. Please understand that it's not as if I'm just recreationally keeping the community in the dark, it's just that dealing with a large casino makes it nearly impossible to pass along all the details I'd like in a timely manner (plus, the last thing I want to do is pass on big news, only to have to recant it later so I figure it's better to say nothing and take heat for that, rather than say something and have it turn out to be wrong) Very frustrating, but that's what's been happening.

These passes will grant their bearers access to ALL MEW events, in fact, they're the ONLY way to get into the Friday Night Showcase, which this year will include a special performance by jazz legend Little Jimmy Scott. There will be lots of individual tickets available for Saturday Night's Pageant, which will include a post-show concert by Tiger Army, but due to contract issues with the Palms, those tickets will only be on sale through the Palms or Ticketmaster (yeah, we hate Ticketmaster, too--sorry, but them's the breaks). I will post info/links for that as soon as they go on sale, in case some of you are just planning on coming for Saturday's show.
Regarding rooms at the Palms: we DO have a block of discounted rooms. Yes, they're still expensive (by comparison to the Orleans, that is) but it's super swank and will put you right in the middle of the action, no cabbing or shuttle buses required. To reserve yours, just call the hotel (1.866.942.7770) and ask for the "Burlesque Weekend" rate. As with the Weekend Passes, when they're gone, they're gone. Fortunately, Vegas is FULL of hotels, so while we'd love to have as many people as possible under one (or two) roofs, if you can find a great deal somewhere nearby, take it.
