POINT OF CLARIFICATION

I've updated the Archives page with a repost of a blog entry about a month ago. It gives a history of EotU as well as a description of the "curse". The reason for this post (and the following paragraphs) is all in the good-intentioned heart of clarification.

One of the earlier headers to the website (this website, but not the current header) basically said "EotU, Created by: JP Krumbine and Illustrated by: Jessica Kreitner". Ignoring the fact that this information has been simply reading: "By: JP Krumbine & Jessica Kreitner" for a good while now (and is one of the more permanent fixtures of the website), it was brought to my attention that a few individuals had issues with the "created by" credit. This issue arises from the fact that, as some of you are aware, Explorers of the Unknown was not solely created by JP Krumbine.

The article on the Archives page explains this breifly and I'll expound on it slightly more here: EotU was originally created by Jason and Jordan Krumbine. They were originally a 4H group that happened to deal with weird stuff. There also happened to be two other members of the group. In interest of full disclosure, after the publication of the very first comic book, the original EotU swiftly died. This was back in 1999.

The article goes onto talk about the different iterations of the EotU comic - how it evolved into what it is today. It also talks about the book I wrote - but not necessarily all of the EotU books I wrote (yes, there has been more than one. There's only been one worth publishing, but I HAVE written more). What I don't mention there, and what I will do very clearly here, is that almost every step of the way I had asked if Jason, the co-creator of the characters, wanted to participate. Each time, he resolutely said no.

Everything you see within this website, barring the original comic, was created by me, JP Krumbine. Over the past seven years, I've busted my ass drawing the original comic and the two subsequent (short lived) strips, and writing somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 strips, one comic book, two novels, and two or three developing screenplays - not to mention the layout and design work done on ALL the comics, the web design work that continues for each iteration of the website, and all the money and time spent on marketing and promotion.

Also, I can't stress, most importantly, the amazing contributions of Jessica Kreitner as the current illustrator of EotU. Drawing a comic is hard - Explorers of the Unknown is no exception. She's put just as much work into the past 21 strips that I've put into all of EotU. Josh Todd, who did the most recent character designs, illustrated our launch comic book,  drew our first official strip, as well as illustrating the book cover also contributed a great deal to what EotU is today.

It is because of this history that I would like to offer this point of clarification (in the form of a credit/byline):

EotU is based on characters created by:
       JASON & JORDAN KRUMBINE

Friday's Comic

You know, I can honestly say that with each strip we make, the comic gets better and better. The story is getting tighter and art is getting fantastic. Here's Friday's comic (stay tuned for next week's strips):

Top Web Comics

w00t!

We're officially listed on Top Web Comics! (Actually, technically speaking, we've been their for a while). Apparently, we're ranked at #923. That doesn't seem too bad for all the comics that are out there. But I want to be in the top 100. The thing is, EotU is just that good.

So here's the deal: we've got a new banner link on the main page of the website, it looks something like this:

When you click that link, you vote for Explorers of the Unknown. Simple enough. Now click and vote my precious ... precious's!!! VOTE!!!

The Webcomic List

Currently, EotU is listed on The Webcomic List - a website devoted to categorizing and tracking updated webcomics. As of today, we're currently ranked at #489 (out of nearly 6,000). It would be really cool if you hop over there and leave a comment about the comic.

I'd love you ... a lot.

EotU Merchandise?

What? Can it be? Actual Explorers of the Unknown merchandise?

Oh, hell yes.

Firstly, with the debut of the store, we're also debuting two new logos:
THE COMIC LOGO:

(Shown on the magnet. Also available on a hat, and a mousepad. For my money, the mousepad kicks ass.)

THE MOVIE LOGO:

(Currently available on the mini movie poster, the full size movie poster, and a clock)

... wait - movie? What movie? So glad you asked, dear reader ... or did you?! All will be revealed in due time ...

Our final set of products are based on today's comic, the "Why don't you knock on the door?" T-shirt for men and women:

More Bonus Stuff ...

And in case you missed yesterday's teaser for the comic (which was pretty f-ing good in and of itself):

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood ...

... won't you be my neighbor?

Things have been going so well with Explorers of the Unknown - seriously, I am as pleased as mud. Not that mud can be pleased or show any kind of emotional satisfaction whatsoever - the point remains that I'm pleased. I think the best part is that there's no limit to our growth.

Which means, yes, EotU WILL be taking over the world.

Just thought you might like to know.

Today marks the start of a new thing we're doing: we publish the comic Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - on these days you'll find the new strip on the main page of the website. On our off days (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday - Sunday remains a day of rest:) the comic will be republished right here on MySpace. So if you missed it the first time around, or you don't alway get a chance to hop over to the website Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (you should - make it a religous routine), you can just check it out here.

Money, Moola, Cash, the Greenbacks, cha-ching!

Greetings and salivations, kind-hearted netizens of wonderful doom!

(somehow I don't think that came out right ...)

Today marks a glorious day in the world of Explorers of the Unknown. Not only is it the premiere of, honestly, one of the funniest strips we've done, and not only the fact that we're experiencing an insane amount of user-growth (thanks, guys - it means a lot. Really) but most importantly, today marks the day that Explorers officially becomes an official business - officially speaking within office environments and other official-y kinda stuff.

Here's the deal (it's pretty simple): obviously, EotU is growing (I literally just said as much). In order to sustain itself, we need our generous patrons of all things weird and unusual (that'd be you guys) to really go all out in supporting the site. Here's how you can help:

1. SPREAD THE LOVE!
- This is pretty simple, and the easiest thing to do. Just tell people about the website and the comic. The more people that read the comic, the more I love you. And if that's not enough, Bill Gates will pay you $100 for each new person you bring to the site. (I honestly have no idea how he's planning on tracking that, but I wouldn't worry. I mean, come on, it's Bill Gates.)

2. CLICK THE ADS!
- This one is simple, too, and doesn't involve a lot of work. Whenever you read the new comic, just click one or two of the Google ads at the bottom of the page.

3. BUY THE BOOK!
- What's that you say? What book? Why, the Explorers of the Unknown novel! I gaurantee the book 100% - it's just that great. And you don't have to take my word for it - ask anyone who's read the book! They'll tell you how great it is. Seriously.

Also, as you may have noticed, I have two (or three) open advertisement spots on the website. Right now, I'm not charging for advertising - I'm more interested in building some working relationships. So if you'd like to do some cross-promotion, or have some ideas, feel free to contact me.

Peace out!

The Problem with Anti-Matter

Hey, it's Jordan, here. I don't know if you've been following what's been happening (if you haven't, it's best to start at the beginning), but things are getting decidedly weird over here. I mean, to start with, things are simply LOOKING different. I don't know what's up with that.

More importantly, our phone has been ringing off the hook - it turns out that that guy with the possessed hot pocket was the least of our worries. After dealing with little Timmy's T-Rex, we ran into a brontasaurus on the the freeway. Literally. Fortunately, I was able to repair the damage to the explorer.

The point is that it appears that everything happening can be attributed to randomly, um, appearing matter. Now I'm not going to pretend to know the cause of this - I don't - but I certainly can hypothesize about the effect. You see, there's a balance to the universe - a balance of matter and anti-matter. Where one is absent, the other can be found. My theory, for now, is that there is a huge displacement of anti-matter somewhere within the vicinity of our galaxy.

What do you think?

Pimp my site.
Current mood: awake

I can't believe this. You know, sometimes I really feel as though I have a loser for a brother. TWO POSTS, PEOPLE! He makes two blog posts on this newfangled "myspace" thing and completely DOES NOT mention our website.

Listen people, this is a big deal. Not only do we have cool graphics like our logo on the website (Seriously, guys - isn't that an awesome logo? Technically jordan made it but the original was kind of flat. I made it pop, if you know what I mean.) but we also have things like our current rates. Which is really important because, well, we need money.

Now technically right now, the website is a little empty. But it's there and you should, you know, mark it or something. (Okay, I'm not THAT hip to the internet lingo - but come on people - only nerds and geeks use the internet. Look at Jordan. Hee-hee.) The point is that stuff is coming to the website. LOTS of cool stuff. And pictures. Lots of pictures, too.
