8:04 PM - Rag Doll Kung Fu ™ - Its finally complete!
Current mood: horny

Game on!

it’s an odd, but lovely feeling when your partner begins or does something of a similar continuum that you would normally never ever talk about.  In my case ‘Irena’ and I, have unknowing brought about ones self the modern terminology of ‘The Rag Doll Effect’.  Even more modern would be ‘The Butterfly Effect’ but that’s for another typing frenzy session.  (Your have been warnedLoL)

I am here to shout about, yet another KooL piece of gaming history.  It’s important for only one reason, if any.  Pure and utter FUN!  This new breed of gaming combines the kick ass movements of iK+, the outstanding powers of Soul Edge/Calibre, the unforgettable style of Full Contact and the CG magic of Half Life 2 in one single game.

What is more impressive, this game has been made or at least started by one individual.  I meant Mark Healey many years ago, in my Amiga youth days (Awww… the memories/nightmares) and even then, when the likes of Team 17 where producing such delights as Full Contact, Mark was already tinkering away with his (our) beloved Amiga.

Anywho, the point of all this, many years later and much hard work, he has finally created something rather original and extremely fun to play.  I won’t go on about the game itself, as the web is full of such comments and reviews to come, but I will mention a thanks to both Lionheart and Valve.  Lionheart have helped Mark publish his game to the masses and Valve have handled the net side of things, utilizing there super KooLSteam’ software.

If you are a Half Life 2 (Counter Strike, Day of Defeat and/or Condition Zero) gamer, then you will know this, but for those who don’t, there are discounts and downloads available via ‘Steam’ only and 2 days a head of final release too!

OK… images speak a thousand words, but this is the year 2005 and this is the internet, so here are a couple of movies of ‘Rag Doll Kung Fuand something a little extra to play with too… reminded and courteously of my girlfriend! (Thanks babe!)

Up first is the main video, which Mark URL’ed me (thanks) sometime ago and cannot be normally seen via the site, so count yourself lucky.  The video does not show the game in full action, but more of what the game can involve and looks like.  It is a long clip with great audio too, so please do not use that Apple Mac Crap s**t ™ which I believe is called QuickTime as it will honestly just screw the whole thing up.  We all hate Micro$oft, but Media Player will do fine, otherwise I suggest WinAmp (www.WinAmp.com)

http://www.rdkf.net/stuff/YouDontHaveToFight.avi

Next is the game itself really.  Again, I will not say much, as it has to been seen really and it’s a hell lot more fun to watch than me yapp on about it!  The video was taken at the GDC’05 (Game Development Conference 2005) and you will see Mark donning his Euro-German long hairdo!  LMAO!!!

The sound is poor and footage shown is the beta edition, so the in-game movie’s where only 75% complete, but still so funny.  The file has been up’ed on FileFront so if the URL below does not work, get your self on to http://www.ragdollkungfu.com instead and find it there too!

http://server1.download.filefront.com/jhreefztbv+/pub2/Rag_Doll_Kung_Fu/Media/Videos_and_Trailers/User_Videos/rdkf_gdc.avi

Again, I will not go into too much detail, but if you know how to use a Zip file, these are some hidden bits found of the Lionheart DNAS.  First the German Official Trailer, then a show of how the 3D engine of the game looks and finally, in spirit of Shaolin Soccer, this Rag doll Kung Fu football!

ftp://ftp.planet-multiplayer.de/sites/lionsource.com/ragdoll/movies/ragdollkungfu_fussball.zip

Finally, not part of Rag Doll Kung Fu, but still in very much the same flavour, which my girlfriend Irena came across too, is the free-falling Russian Rag Doll women thingy thing!  It’s crudely created using Macromedia’s Flash, but still very effective, very fun to throw around and if your electrical doo-dad (PC, MAC or Console) can handle it, hit the full view button (F11) for a more immersed view, upping the pain factor! WooHoo!!!

PS.  Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on the Sony PSP is totally and utterly… Outstanding!!!  J

7:13 PM - Feel Good, Feeling Morningz... WooHoo!!!
Current mood: cheerful

That would be me... wanna play?! Nothing special, but damn it SO is too!

My usual feel good mornings are just so amazing!

With 8 hours sleep in me and flu nearly gone completely gone too!

Was up at my usual 6:30am with sun warmth on my naked back and the smell of fresh smelling pillows!

But then I leap out of my now empty bed, get my head rebooted with some delicious Soya Chocolate Milkshake, stick on some tight shorts, grab my Sony PSP for the backdrop music, whilst I hit the streets for a 30 minute speed jog.

Feeling so alive when I return, the radio is cranked and I hit an electrifying shower, cook a seriously huge delicious breakfast, with as little fat as possible of course, a tasty cup of char with honey and of course CoCoPops!

Radio off and into the studio with my eagerly waiting to be eaten breakfast and grab a comfy seat to inhale it all!

But what tops it all off, is the pleasure of being able to watch 'Scubs' seasons 1-4 at my random leisure, whilst having breakfast!

FazZ woz ere!
FazZ wOz eRe!

Then... of course by 8am, its time to get busy with some fun work time and AV edit away... WooHoo... ACTiON!!!

Today... is a good day!

So what do you do with your mornings?

2:00 PM - 36 Quai Orfevres - Vanilla Studioz Review by FazZ
Current mood: impressed

36 Quai Orfevres
Personal Review by moi, FazZ

Original Movie Poster art work of '36 Quai Des Orfèvres'.

I'm so touched by a movie I only just managed to watch.  I say just managed as it has been haunting my collection since LAST YEAR, but at the time wasn't in the mood to watch it and then disappeared into the rest of my plastic collection.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you all with longsome review, because movies need to judges for yourself, through your own eyes, not someone else.

Its like saying, someone is ugly.  No-one is ugly and ugly is a bad word to use towards anybody! We all have different views on everything and unique characters, to what one person may find, unattractive, another may love.

Yeah, I think thats another blog in itself, so I'll get back to the point of this blog.  LMAO

Quai Des Orfèvres is the alter name of the CiD (Criminal Investigations Division) of the French Police force in Paris, located at no. 36. To what I remember and can translate to us yobs in the UK "Quai des Orfèvres" is in most ways like our "Scotland Yard" and means Quay of Goldsmiths.

Movies you could compare this to, I guess would be 'Heat' which is a good movie, if badly edited and longer than it needed to be, but 36 Quai Des Orfèvres is WAY beyond that and any other American produce movie based on the Police force, that I have seen in my movie history.

Yeah, I've seen lots, but never enough!  LoL

The dark, cold, emotions of this film really do grip by the throat and tug on your heart, squeezing you to only do what is natural of humans and shed tears!

Director, Olivier Marchal is a former cop himself and the story is strongly based on real events from the life of Dominique Loiseau, who is the co-writer and who himself was is a former BRI (Brigade de Recherche et d'Intervention) kind like an "anti-gangs" squad.  So I think you can see from that, this movie isn't going to be glitzy, glamour, Americanized or unreal.

It feels the completely the opposite and damm, its about bloody time too!

I'm NOT going to go into the basics of the movie, as that will just ruin it for you all that read this and take my word, to GO see this movie!  Its not just a simple movie, that can be told in a few lines from my poor English.  It's a story that just works SO much better on film, than read.

For those who don't comprehend French, its not all lost as the DVD edition out in the UK later this year, will have both Subtitles and alternative languages to play with.

OK, so the movie is NOT to be missed and the actors are so real, you feel that movie was just a piece of there working history put on to film, but what about the modern crap too, such as music, audio quality, camera work, editing, pace and of course wardrobe.

For those who know me, know very well, I love my OST's with a serious passion and this movie is astonishingly good too. Not something you would probably listen to off the movie, but still extremely good and suited the movie in everyway possible.

My other passion is Audio quality.  Us humans are stupid when it comes to life and for what I see, most NEVER take there ears into account and really appreciate the sounds they hear, but usually just go what they see.  This usually the type of person I don't get on with much as they are the type of person that think DiVX, Mpeg4 or more commonly known as Movie Piracy is OK!  NO its F******G NOT OK!  Just because you can just about see what is going on and the person in the front row of your 'SO CALLED' good copy isn't moving too much, so you can see the movie fine, has to question there morals in life!  Your happy with second best or low quality... How sad you are!

The audio quality of this movie is stunning.  Totally and breathtakingly! The French have always taken there movies seriously and always push technology into the great wall of movies, but never abuse it too, unlike the Hollywood based movies.  This movie, again, like many French movies, had both the lower form sound, you all probably know as Dolby, mixed to the DVD, but when it was originally released, had the ultimate format, DTS.  DTS (Digital Theatre Sound) is probably the best in most ways, but then they didn't stop there, the even pushed it as far as re-mixing the audio in a THX studio!  I can't even begin to explain how much the sound improves when this is done.  On a good home theatre, you can totally crank up the volume without it feeling to much, ever!  Even through action scenes and explosions, right down to silent scenes carried by dialogue only, this movie is top notch!

Camera work is another masterpiece, which again, most French movies always seem to aspire to, with lush surroundings that feel used and believable.

Editing was sharp and paced extremely well.  With enough time to breath, take in the dramatics and bring you back into the movie with such emotions.

As always, the wardrobe was very good too, but I think the women were somewhat let down in this movie and didn't hit my sweet tooth enough to actually remember any of the female characters.  I guess in some ways, this is a good thing, because ladies watching this movie will probably enjoy it more, even thought its a movie, made by two men, about only men on screen 80% of the time, may find this a pleasant change for them, but I personally love French eye-candy and would have liked a touch it.  OK, so there was a brief scene of strip bar with women and the humongous crash bags, but so not tasteful to something more simple and well, human!

OK, I'm spent... I think you all have skimmed this heavily and I don't blame you, but then what the hell are you reading my blog for then!

4:12 PM - Sith Happens - Empire box office update
Current mood: creative

Just some reading from my friends at Empire UK who gave a great and happy update on SW:EPIII box office update!

Revenge Of The Sith breaks records galore at the US box office

Movie NewsAnakin Skywalker falls, box office receipts rise. That was the message at the American – nay, the global box office – this weekend as George Lucas’ Star Wars Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith finally opened after what seems like 22 years of anticipation – and promptly set about laying swathe to pretty much every box office record it could get its lightsaber on.

Biggest single day of all time? Gone, on the movie’s opening day (Thursday), when $50 million was banked, exceeding the $44 million set by Shrek 2 (on a Saturday) last year. Biggest midnight opening ever? Yep, $16.5 million thrashing The Return Of The King’s $8 million. Biggest four-day opening? Take that, The Matrix ReloadedSith’s estimated $158.5 million tally trumps the $134.3 million of the Wachowski Brothers’ own eagerly-awaited sequel back in 2003. It also holds the record for biggest two-day and three-day grosses, although its Thursday opening means the biggest Friday-Sunday opening record still belongs to Spider-Man’s colossal $114 million from 2002.

Of course, this was a bigger blanket release than any previous Star Wars movie, with a bombardment of Star Wars-related TV and cinema ads, while the movie debuted on over 9,000 prints in the States. However, Sith’s grosses are a phenomenon not likely to be matched until, possibly, Superman Returns next year.

It’s made a mockery of Lucas’ prediction, before The Phantom Menace was released, that the third (or sixth, from a certain point of view) but inarguably final episode of the Star Wars saga would gross less money than any previous episode. That prediction seemed to gather pace after Attack Of The Clones, though still a hit, took considerably less than The Phantom Menace in 2002. However, the need to see exactly how Anakin becomes Darth Vader lured in fans of the original trilogy and those who had perhaps sworn off the prequel trilogy, superceding the movie’s potentially damaging PG-13 rating.

Instead, all eyes will now be on the movie’s second weekend to see whether it can sustain a pace that could put it above Menace as the biggest Star Wars movie of them all.

With no real competition in the blockbuster arena until Batman Begins on June 17, and word of mouth likely to be much stronger on this than any SW movie since The Empire Strikes Back, that looks a given. In fact, Revenge Of The Sith could become just the third movie in history – after Titanic and Return Of The King – to break the billion dollar barrier.

In the rest of the world, Sith has also raked in $144 million in its opening weekend, with its global total of $303.5 million another record, around $50 million ahead of The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King’s tally from 2003.

How much of that stems from the UK, we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out, but given that this correspondent has just returned from a sold-out screening on a Sunday night, that would indicate that ‘pretty damn well’ is going to be the answer. The Force is strong with this one.

Sith rendered the rest of the US box office pretty much insignificant. However, we’ll run through the movers and shakers briefly: the J-Lo/J-Fo comedy, Monster-In-Law dropped to no. 2 and now has $44.1 million after 10 days. The Will Ferrell football comedy, Kicking And Screaming, isn’t faring as well with just $34 million in that same time period.

Paul Haggis’ ensemble drama, Crash, is holding up well and has $27.6 million after three weeks, while Kingdom Of Heaven’s one-way ticket to Flopsville is still very much valid; it has just $41 million from 17 days.

As usual and as Sony say once again, it will contain state-of the-art graphics and use of the latest technology from Hollywood to provide the most realistic computer games experience ever.

The launch is crucial for the electronic giant, Sony, in its ever growing battle against Micro$oft's new and recently also announced Krap BoX ( Xbox 360 )
