The FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival is proud to announce that this years Lifetime Achievement "Freaky" Award will be presented to legendary horror film director GEORGE ROMERO. The "Freaky" will be presented on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the Awards ceremony during the Festival. It's an honor and a privilege to award GEORGE ROMEO the Lifetime Achievement Award for his great body of work over the many years he has worked in the industry. From the ground breaking independent horror film "Night of the Living Dead" to his latest fright fest "Diary of the Dead", George Romero represents how true independent horror is made. Orlando, FL – Spooky Empire's Scream Fest is back on October 17-19, with its best line up so far. The location is once again the Wyndham Orlando Resort on famous International Drive.
This year Spooky Empire decided to bring it to the next level by bringing in Malcolm McDowell, most well known as the star of the cult film "Clockwork Orange" as well as "Doomsday", "Heroes", "Entourage", and Rob Zombie's "Halloween". Also from Rob Zombie's Halloween, Daeg Faerch (Young Michael Myers) will be appearing. From the "Saw" series, Shawnee Smith and J Larose will be in attendance. Come and meet The Tall Man himself, Angus Scrimm, from the "Phantasm" series, Ken Kirzinger (Jason) from "Freddy vs Jason", and the legendary Ricou Browning, "Creature from the Black Lagoon", the last living Universal Monster. From the original "Halloween", John Michael Graham. Newer to the convention circuit this year are Jason Mewes ("Clerks", "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back") and Missi Pyle ("Charlie & The Chocolate Factory" and "Heroes").
Don't forget the 30th Anniversary Reunion of "Dawn of the Dead" featuring George Romero and the cast of the original film – Ken Foree, David Emge, Gaylen Ross, Scott Reiniger, and Mike Christopher.
The show also includes the FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival featuring the best in independent horror from around the world. Films will be showing all three days of the event and will include special event parties with the filmmakers. We will also be giving our Lifetime Achievement "Freaky" Award to legendary horror filmmaker GEORGE A. ROMERO! Don't miss this event!

We have a call for entries for the 2008 event. We are looking for shorts, features, documentaries, experimental, or anything related to horror. Filmmakers compete for the prestiges "FREAKY" Award designed and made by legendary FX Makeup Artist BARRY ANDERSON (Day of the Dead, Jeepers Creepers 1&2). Be sure to enter early for cheaper entry fees. Those filmmakers interested in entering their work can go to the FREAK SHOW website for submission guidelines and entry form.
The 2007 FREAK SHOW Horror Film Festival was a HUGE success! We would like to thank all the filmmakers that traveled near and far to be at the fest!
