...well, you can.  It just doesn't feel all that much like home anymore.  To all my peeps in Maryland, it was WONDERFUL to see you all.  I miss you guys everyday and wish you would just come to your senses and move down here with me.  To my friends here in Austin...I'm back and ready to kick some more TCM ass. 

The weather was awesome in Maryland and Virginia, and other than a few minor hiccups, everything went smoothly.

38 and still kicking.....ass!!!

Okay...so I actually turned 38 almost 2 weeks ago, but I didn't say anything about it, and I want to say something about it.  Age is just the number of years that you've put behind you.  It has nothing to do with how many you have before you!  I love that I'm 38.  I'm definitely a LOT healthier now than I was two years ago.  Don't let anyone tell you differently, STRESS is the #1 killer in the US. 

I had a great B-day gathering at Fado's on 4th St. in Austin.  Fado's was always one of my favorite bars in DC and I can honestly say it's become one of my favorites in Austin.  Good cider, good friends, and great atmosphere...what more could a girl ask for?  The nice thing about the Fado's in Austin is that it's MUCH more convenient than the one in DC.  YAY!!!

Year Two at Hogworts

Yes...I'm calling AOMA "Hogworts" now.  Coming back from the Christmas break, I felt like Harry Potter coming back for round two…A little beaten up, but otherwise optimistic.  Maybe I should be Hermione instead.  I've got the hair to pull that one off and I really don't have the flashy scar to be Harry.  Plus I would like to believe that I am the brightest witch of my age…Just kidding.  I'll just study as hard as I can before whatever fiendish trap Voldemort has planned for me is sprung.

Homesick...

I love Austin and the new friends that I've made here, but I just got email from a friend back in Maryland who just went to one of my old haunts today.  Boy, I wish I could have been there!  Good times, good memories!  I check the weather back there almost every day.  I even watch the traffic cams from time to time.  I know...I'm a freak.  Hey...it helps keep me sane as a stranger in a strange land.

Barnes & Noble Bliss

I was feeling a little down this evening so I decided to go out and run some errands.  While driving around I saw Barne's & Noble and decided I needed to go in. Once I walked through the doors I stood at the first kiosk of books and inhaled deeply.  It lifted my mood by about 20 notches.  There is nothing better than the smell of brand new books with just a hint of coffee.  (I don't even like the coffee...just the smell.)

So here it is.  February 26th, 2006.  Well, it's at least the first birthday that I've spent that I haven't been freezing my ass off.  I'm not sick this year!  I can count the number of birthdays I've been able to say that without resorting to feet.  So....how was your first birthday in Austin.  Well...I was pretty determined that I was going to have fun.  All of the folks that I had asked out, canceled for various reasons.  I understand, I've done it many a time myself.  So....I went downtown by myself.  Dressed in my short little skirt and my hooka heals.  I met nice people and had a great deal of fun.  I think I'll have to try it again.
