AUDITIONS FOR HORROR FILM SUNDAY 20TH APRIL
Current mood: adventurous
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Hello!..:

Lost Art Films are holding auditions next Sunday the 20th of April in Melbourne for there next feature film, The Dark Psychosis.  Here's a press release about the production.

"Take a killer chicken, tattoos with a taste for human flesh, a sea monster, psycho lepers roaming through a post-apocalyptic environment, and someone in desperate need of a day off work, and what have you got? Well, weirdness one would assume, and hopefully a lot of entertainment! Writer/Director Stuart Simpson recently gave us the low-down on his next project, and it will contain all the ingredients mentioned above, plus a whole lot more!

Since completing work on his feature debut The Demonsamongus back in 2006, Simpson and his team have been busy shooting various short films, and the good news is these shorts will all be bundled together to form The Dark Psychosis – a gory, twisted version of horror anthologies like Creepshow and The Twilight Zone which will clock in at around 70 minutes and feature 6 - 7 tales of terror and bloodshed. Four of the stories have already been completed (and if you've been out and about on the festival circuit you might have seen a few of them) – Sickie (about one woman's quest to get to work despite numerous obstacles), Greedy Guts (a drunken trip to a tattooist results in a flesh eating nightmare) Wakey Wakey, Eggs and Bakey (a film about a vengeance seeking chicken), and Lost Carriage (a psychological prison escape film) – and post-production is currently underway on the next chapter, Garden of Earthly Delights, about a beautiful female warrior-nomad walking the wastelands of a post apocalyptic future who stumbles across a cult of hostile and very leprous nut-jobs! Also slated for production in the coming months are a sea monster flick, and a tale about a time loop conundrum…..Sounds like a winner to me!"

So as you've just read the film is a combination of short stories. We have two more to go and are looking for females aged between 18 and 30 to fill roles for both films. Here's a short synopsis of the two films:

1. "Time Again...." - It's an ordinary day just like every other, with Laura catching the bus home from work. As she cuts through the straight and narrow alleyways of her
neighbourhood, she finds that it's taking much longer to reach her street then usual. Before long an hour has passed. Suddenly Laura sees the exact same old couch that was sitting on the corner a few blocks back...and didn't she see that crate of old bottles way back too….and whop is that old lady that keeps disappearing....Its one thing to comes to terms that your in a time loop, another is to survive.

2. " Mostro di mare! " - Set in a tiny seaside commune just out of the city, the people of Tranquil Bay are about to realize the tales they told their children to scare them have come horribly true. With the industrial dredging of the bay, something unspeakable has awoken from the deep. When three fast-talking, bad ass delinquent vixens show up to the quiet town to party up, things start to get very messy.

The roles are volunteer only but are a great opportunity for experience and exposure. The Dark Psychosis is intended to be distributed as a feature DVD across the country. The successful applicant will be required for 3 – 4 days shooting on weekends. "Time Again" is slated first and will shoot within three weeks time. "Mostro di mare" will commence shooting in two months.

So, if this sounds like fun to you, and believe me it will be fun, then please reply with a preferred time between 10am and 5pm (in 30 min blocks) on Sunday the 20th April and we will get back to confirm or work out an alterative time.  In replying we will also send you a one pager from the film to read for the part. Replys came be to this myspace or by email to lostartfilms@hotmail.com

The auditions will be held at Campbell Turnbull Library in West Brunswick,

Cnr Melville Rd and Irvine Crescent. To catch a public transport, get 55 tram from Williams rd, city and get off at the corner of Melville Rd and Moreland Rd.  Cross the road and walk back to the first street on the left (Irvine Cres). And we are just in the room next to the main library, next to the car park. If you are driving then you can park in the library carpark.

Cheers, I hope to hear from you all soon. Any questions feel free to ask.

December

Ok so im still editing the Funk Necks clip, which is a spazzy conniption fit of fun, and start shooting a new video for metal rockers, Hatchet Dawn in a few weeks. The concept is awesome and im extremely excited to get into it. Let me just say its going to be a combo of Madmax, Village of the Damned and 28 Days Later. Plan is to have two versions, the tv friendly and an uncut one. I'll let you know when theyre both done. ;D

October

Hi. I'm really busy at the moment. While writing the script for our next feature film, my production company, Lost Art, is producing two video clips and a live Moto X dvd within the next couple of months. The two clips are for Melbourne bands A Death in the Family (Lost Art favourites!) and new comers the Funk Necks. Both are awesome songs and im really excited to be part of it all. On the Nov 3rd we will be covering a one off moto x event in Bacchus Marsh. Other than the odd Bike video ive done in the past, this is a new venture for us and will hopefully be a success. So if your down there on the 3rd come down and say g'day (our table will be next to the food hall). The script is coming along, hopefully have a complete draft by the end of the year, its going to be one scary mofo! Later,

Stu

Holland round two.

Hi. Im in Amsterdam again and damn dont i love it. Its summer here so everything is outside and the peoople are happy so the cheese tastes even better. I'll be here for two months hanging out with my girl Clare whos got 6 weeks of work in a few jazz bars playing and singing around the place. I'm currently writing the second half of a feature script i started last time i was here 5 months ago. I just finished the new clip for Melbourne metal freakers Blood Duster just before i left last week. It looks pretty mad i must say. Have to wait a couple of months before i post the new clips including Bagster and the Resignators. Cant wait to start editing Greedy Guts when i get home, most of it has been shot and man its going to be one crazy ass film, thanks to all who gave their time, you rock. But untill then bring on the dutch sun. Later

Current mood: full
Category: Art and Photography

So, i dont write any blogs but maybe i should just in case you interested in what i making/shooting/eating. At the moment I'm directing a short film called Greedy Guts. I wrote it while i was stoned in Amsterdam. Its a comedy horror twilight zone sorta thing. Prob run around the 10 min mark. Footage so far is gold i tells ya. I let yall know when its finished and we can have a bit of a screening. Also got a few video clips lined up for April for 'Bagster' and the 'Resignators' which will be fun. If you've just recorded and want a do a clip, drop me line and we'll talk turkey. Love to hear from you. And of course, I'm waiting patiently for the release of my feature film DEMONS|AMONG|US to hit dvd shelves around July/August this year. If you wanna know more go to the films myspace on my top friends list. I just gave my dog a flea bath so i'm hoping they didnt jump boat and onto me, hiding somewhere in my warm spots. Oh well everyones gotta live somewhere. Later,

Stu
