something new
Current mood: awake
Category: Writing and Poetry
I am trying out MySpace because all the cool kids are doing it.
I am reading The Place of Dead Roads by William S. Burroughs. I am not sure how many people actually read Burroughs. I found Naked Lunch to be unreadable but his other books Junkie and Queer are easier reads. The Place of Dead Roads is about a queer, inter-dimensional, cowboy who is trying to make Earth a vessel to travel through space. I think the idea is that everyone would have a purpose of being a space traveler. Burroughs also discussed finding biological ways to space travel. I think he envisions genetic experiments to alter breathing and other biotic factors so one can live in space. He appears to be emphasizing once again the idea of a counterculture but one so monumental that it changes time and space. I think he is trying to say that one would go beyond time. I am all for conquering time. I am sure Burroughs came close many times during his lifetime to achieving this goal.
