NYC grammy trip
hey everybody yesterday our school took 28 students involved in music to NYC to go to a "grammy in the schools" convention where a few schools around the area are selected to come to Pace Univercity in the city to learn about what it takes to make it in the music buisness. Everyone in the band was able to go on this trip and experiance this. There was an open invitation to all the students going on the trip to send in a recording of their music and have the people that put on the Grammy awards listen to it. of course we took advantage of this opportunity and sent in our songs. When we go there, there was a "panel" of all professional record producers and other people involved in music that were going to critique 2 selected recordings of the ones sent in from over 700 people. We were lucky enough to be one of the 2 groups that got called on stage in front of the 700 people and have our recording critiqued by these famous record producers. Everyone seemed to like the ideas we had, but we "aren't generic enough" if we want to get on the radio...and we were compared to some shitty bands such as good charlotte, blink 182, and green day. thats not what we wanted to hear, but whatever, they are used to hearing crappy pop bands. and also chris brown, the hip hop guy that sings "run it" was there to critique us too (later in the day he performed, and did a backflip...it ruled). he got confused by our song "record books" because it wasnt structured enough, which we all found pretty funny. then when our song "red rose" was played, they said none of the parts fit with each other. we like the songs though...but some of the stuff they told us did have a point. so next time we get recordings up,watch out...ya never know what we could sound like next! (we are also considering being a fall out boy tribute band*)
