Back In Bourneo!

Hello one and all!

Well, all's still mucho fun down here in Bomo... Latest on the Housing sit is that Frankie, JP and I might be sharing with Shane, Sam, Emma, Claire and Jenny (all TV buddies) if we get it all sorted...

Additionally, finished editing film #3 (aka Consequences) a short film about a woman wrestling with her concience... *WARNING* not recommended for epileptic viewers (sorry that was my editing!)... It's non-assessed and due in on Tues, edit took approx. 5-6hrs all told (Fri and Sat), which is pretty good goin' I reckon...

Anyhoo, just won £5 playing Poker with JP, Den, Deej, Joey and Sykes (by coming second!) so yay! Also got Crocodile Dundee I & II through the post today, so double-yay!... Third yay, Smokin' Aces is an AWESOME film!

Also watched Midnight Run this eve, which was quite cool too...

Right, 2.51am, time to call it an (early) night...

Trapped in a Box by a Cockney nutjob...

Well, I'm still around... It's taken a while to update this 'ere blog, cos I've been pretty darned busy... What with lectures (on Mon and Tues), work (mon and wed) and going out with the Boys (Van, Jp and Frankie) (mon, tues, thurs, fri)... The Days are short, chock-full of Boosh-y goodness (ie: The Mighty Boosh), Spaced, Grey's Anatomy, Day Break and Heroes, and the nights are looong...

All's good therefore... Meat Loaf tickets r booked 4 25th May for me, frankie, marv, moss and george... can't wait! That (and Quo, given the gig on 15th Dec) is all i'm really listening to atm...

Not really any new and/or exciting updates though... I'm doing my washing at the mo so that's how fun 2day is so far! Lol! Catch y'all later...

Wowzaroonie, wot an interesting day...

Woke at 9.30 this morning, Assignments Office opened at 10, deadline at 12... Rang JP and he gave me his essay to print, and Den (who'd stayed up all night to write it) emailed his for printing too, along with his script.  Many journeys were made between my room and JP's, each time my laptop managed to shut itself down, resulting in further delays.  Anyhoo, the long and the short of it is that our essays were all handed in by 11.30 this morning (or technically yesterday morning!).

Bored, post-essay, and with few housemates around, I decided to use my time constructively... So I took a trip to my current favourite uni-room; W404 in Weymouth House (the Post-grad edit suite, assigned, oddly enough, to first-year TV students for editing), and made a start on the CSI: BU titles, using the edited theme tune, a few graphics, and some footage from the Bodge-It we made.  Needless to say, it's far from done, and needs both more footage and more work, but it's a start, and it looks to be a good one at that!

Got all excited 'bout seeing Casino Royale again, although, despite getting my *free* Orange Wednesdays ticket, we didn't go, postponing it until tomorrow (today!) or friday...  Learned that Van is leaving uni (as he couldn't change his course), and re-applying next year, about which we're all pretty miffed... However, he's hanging around a while longer yet, and we're tryin' to convince him to stay 'til Xmas.  Then JP and I (accompanied latterly by Van and subsequently Sykes, Borg and Frankie) watched Bill Bailey: Bewillderness over a bottle of red wine (mmm... yum... :-S), and found it highly entertaining!

Then the real fun began.  We'd decided to go for a lad's night out (seeing as I had the night off work anyways) at Elements, to their 'pajama party' wearing dressing-gowns over our normal clothes (to attain free fancy-dress entry).  All was going well, I'd borrowed Tom Green's dressing-gown and we were all set, ordered a cab, and off we went.  When we arrived at Elements, we were ID'd and as I was waiting for Frankie, Van and Borg to come through, one of the bouncers came over to me and inquired about my footwear.  "Are those steel-toe-cap?" "You can't wear those in here i'm afraid, mate, but if you go and change your shoes, I'll get you in free when you come back" being his chosen words.  How he initially deduced they were remains a subject of bafflement to me unless he either owned an identical pair or had X-ray vision...  Frankie and Van kindly contributed to my Taxi fund, and I returned home to change my shoes (to my tac. boots, 'cos it was either them or my cowboy boots!).  Fortunately the cabbie was a nice, amiable guy and we had a nice chat and I got the double-journey for £10, after a brief, but friendly, haggle.  Then I had to find the bouncer who had questioned the boots in the first place, to let me in for free (and past the queue!).  Anyway, I finally got into Elements, and a good night ensued.  I found Shane, Josh, Ellie and Becca from my course, and Lulu, Welsh-Rob and Fred from Dylan's over the course of the night, so I was never short of good company!

When we eventually got back (at 3.30a-of-the-m), JP, Frankie and I had a good ol' chat in their living room 'til 20 to 6... It's now 6.14am, and I'm going to bed now... Night!

IMdB summary:-

It's silly good, on a par with season 1 of LOST, possibly even better...

Equally, Day Break is quality too...

They're both awesome shows... and I've (finally!) started watching Prison Break too, which is also very good!

Anyhoo, I'd best go hand in my essay now!

Casino Royale and my essay...

Number one: Casino Royale is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, far and away the BEST BOND EVER! (so far, of course...) Not only is Daniel Craig perfect for the role, the film is far more believable than any of its predecessors, both in plot and action... Equally, it is quite possibly the slickest film, in terms of camera work and editing, that I've seen in the cinema recently.  Furthermore, the title sequence is AWESOME, definately the best I've seen in a film for a goodly while.  In fact, I love it SO much, here's a link to the YouTube video of the titles:-

Number 2: My essay is going well, and I made good progress yesterday... I'm now up to 1,776 words... Unfortunately, I got quite into the flow of writing it and I was horrified when I looked at my watch and realised it was 10 to 6! Needless to say, I legged it back home, dumped my laptop, changed my T-shirt and shot off to Dylan's like a bullet... Managed to clock-in for 6, only an hour late... :-S They seemed to understand though!

Anyhoo, I must away now, as I have a PDP tutorial in about 15minutes...

Friday... T-minus 4 days and counting...

Well, when I eventually woke up, and felt well enough to do work (for some reason I felt pretty ill this morning and actually missed my TV Studio day, about which I was somewhat gutted - although I'm gonna *try* to sneak in and join another group...), I managed to do some more reading/research and did a rough plan for my essay... Starting it has been postponed until tomorrow, however...

Did not see Casino Royale this evening (as they were sold-out), nor did I go to the Dylan's Boys' Social, instead I spent the evening watching TV (finally! my lecturers would be proud!!) with JP and a chinese take-away (Happy Birthday Gran!)... I have now seen episodes 1 and 2 of Day Break (the show replacing LOST during the winter hiatus), a thriller/action/drama series about a detective falsely accused of murder who re-lives the same day over again, and must try to clear his name and protect those he cares about from the mysterious hitmen... It sounds far-fetched, but I thoroughly enjoyed it... Additionally, I have now seen episode 1 of The Nine, a show of a similar genre, focusing on the nine surviving hostages from a 52-hour bank robbery/siege, which is again intriguing... I have yet to watch episodes 2 through 4 though... Furthermore, just awaiting some downtime, I have episodes 1 through 8 of Heroes that I have yet to watch! The show focuses on a group of people who discover they have super-powers and attempt to come to terms with both their abilities, and their purpose/connection to one-another... It's already got JP, Sparrow and Sykes hooked, but I am behind in this case! Also now up-to-speed with LOST (up to and including episode 6 of S3) and Twin Peaks, the latter of which JP, Steve and I watch whenever we are all free. We're now up to episode 3 of S2...

Having watched said TV, JP and the girls went out, whilst the rest of the boys and I stayed in, watching *BITS* of Final Fantasy: Advent Children, although Joey was knackered, so we skipped to the action-y bits, thus leaving me floundering as to the plot... Anyhoo, when they all retired to bed, I dragged Sparrow out for a walk around the village, and I ended up finding Matt and Clare from Dylans and so we headed up there... Most of the Children In Need events had finished (and the Boys' Social had headed to OFS) so we sat at the end of the bar (the bit that looked most in need of our support - lol!), with cocktail pitchers and shots for an hour or so, before I retired back home, concious of the fact I have an essay to write tomorrow.

*Correction* - I have an essay to START tomorrow...

*Nerve TV and Essays afoot...

Well. yesterday held both good and bad news... On the one hand CSI:BU is well on track, and will probably be ready in time for the next BAFTAs, whilst our PDP lecture about the library and essay-writing has done little more than worry me that I haven't done enough reading! Anyhoo, I intend to be doing little else today (although the new film soc. has their first meeting/viewing of Brick at 3pm...) other than reading (or at least FINDING some books) and planning my essay, ready for writing it tomorrow and saturday... and monday and tuesday! The Dylan's Boys are also having a social on Friday, so depending on essay progress, I may well be going to that too... Furthermore, Moss is coming down this weekend, and is planning to go to Quasar (like Lazer Quest) on sunday at about 3ish... Hence, I've pretty much written-off sunday in terms of getting any actual work done!

As for *Nerve TV and CSI:BU, we had a workshop yesterday, and JP came along (after I dragged him outta bed!) and seems really keen to script it, which, based on his pilot I read, should be GREAT! In terms of characters (and the names are DELIBERATLY cliched and cheesey!) we have:-

- Clint Ford - Main 'CSI Guy' - Me

- Alex Ellison - Female Side-kick - As yet un-cast

- J.D. - Computer Expert - As yet un-cast (possibly Rich from No. 4)

- Name to be decided - Forensics Expert - Ant from No. 48

- Name to be decided - Evil Villian - Den (probably)

- Rexx Roman - Evil Mastermind - JP

As for theme music, I'm thinking of using an extract of 'The Seeker' by, in traditional CSI style, The Who, provided copy-righting issues are sorted...

In other news, I've just been for a shower and, for the first time, I managed to lock myself out of my room. Wearing a towel. And you have to go and collect keys during the daytime if you're locked out. So Sticky very kindly went and retrieved them, although the woman HAD to come back here anyway, as she wouldn't let her take my keys!! As you can tell by the fact I'm typing this, I'm back in my room now!

Adios!

13/11 In chilly Bournemouth

Well it's certainly nippy out at times these days... We had a Keynote Lecture this morning on 'Reading Images' with Hugh Chignell which was quite entertaining, and altogether rather enjoyable. Then we had a TV Principles lecture with Lizzie Sykes (our Year leader person) about Editing which was interesting... Of course, the person in our group responsible for the editing of our 1st assessed piece missed this lecture, as she was busy actually editing it... ironic really... We then reviewed the film thus far, and it's looking good, but still too long (last check, I believe it came in around 2.30mins...) Our final lecture of the day was TV Forms, in which we watched 'Mulholland Drive' (well, half of it :-( not nearly enough!) and discussed the brilliance of David Lynch... Then work from 5-9 in the SU Shop which was fun (as always! ...and no, Stef ISN'T paying me to say that... honest!) before popping along to the last half hour of the Juggling Society meeting, a society in which I am now officially a member... There were some Car-azzeey Diablo skills on display, along with Poi (which look kinda cool) juggling, unicycling and so on... I was the only one rope-spinning though! Although that would be a LOT easier if Tolly and Zeddy finally came through with that book... I was thinking about seeing if the Juggling Soc are interested in a workshop with them at some point (plus it'd be good to see them again). I wonder what Tolly would think. Hint. Hint. Ask, mum! Ta! Lol! Anyway, best get off to bed now, as I have an Editing workshop at the ungodly hour of 9 of the A. M. Rubbish! Night y'all.
