CROOKED DISCO - FRIDAY NIGHT SPECIAL! 12/21 10:00pm
Date: Friday, December 21st Time: 10:00pm Location: Galapagos (70 N. 6th, W'burg) Cost: $5 with RSVP Open Bar: 10:00pm - 11:00pm
Crooked Disco is a monthly audio/visual/performance experience. It sort of sounds like Electro meets Booty House meets B'more Club. It sort of looks like an A.D.D. fueled technicolor video game funhouse. Crooked Disco has been killing it every month so if you've missed us so far this is your chance!
This month Crooked Disco is on a Friday and that means we finally get to bring all of our friends who usually can't come out to play on Saturdays. Straight off the top we've got a rare LIVE appearance from Todosantos. Live and direct from Venezuela and recently relocated in Brooklyn, the heavily hyped audiovisual band mashes up the best of Bmore, 4x4, ghettotech and dubstep into a whole new sound they like to call "tukky bass". The group sets the stage on fire with a stampede of zebras, seizure inducing videos and tukkybass madness, turning kids into crowd surfing lunatics from coast to coast. Fans of our previous guest, Eclectic Methods, will not be disapointed.
On the decks we've got Marc-Alan Gray who reigns supreme over the dancefloor at Lotus every Saturday. Marc-Alan has his own brand of sexed up electro house which will keep the floor moving to the early morn. And finally, newcomer on the scene and recent NYC transplant Pumpkin Patch takes over the decks with that French fueled electro bass that we just can't get enough of. Fans of Modular, Kitsuné, and Ed Banger will want to check this out. Plus, we got new reinforced lighting. And as always, open bar from 10pm - 11pm.
Date: Saturday, November 24th Time: 10:00pm Location: Galapagos (70 N 6th, W'burg) Cost: $5 w/RSVP $10 w/o Open Bar: 10:00pm - 11:00pm

Plus, DJ Tameill from Unruly Records drops some Baltimore Club and resident DJ Morsy blends electro, hip hop, house and an open vodka bar to kick things off. All details at www.crooked-disco.com. AVANT GARDEN FRIDAY JUNE 16TH - 3 Live Act, 7 DJs, Open Bar, FREE!!!
New York is not a place for pop. It's not a town of actors who want to be singers who want to be famous and get on the Fuse network. We like our music a little louder, we like our beats a little harder, and we like our parties a whole lot dirtier.
Avant Garden is a full sensory stress-releasing night of insane dancing and debauchery in celebration of the cutting edge sights and sounds of New York City. We are taking over Galapagos once again with two rooms of reinforced bass dripping through the wall. The night is packed with 3 live acts, 7 DJs, 3 Live Visual Artist, projects and more...
But that's not it... this is New York so we are counting on you to take this party to the next level. Bring your freak, your artist, your fire eating, and your dance moves to to floor. We want to see improptu burlesque, elaborate headdresses, performance pieces, and however else you get down. This is your night... we just provide the framework.

FreeNYC.net and DJ Moe Choi bring you Elevator Sex Muzak... a new bi-weekly event dedicated to blunted beats, leftfield hip hop, and other assorted downtempo rhythms.
For months we have been talking with DJs and asking them what was missing in nightlife. The resounding answer was equal parts 'somewhere to go after the open bar is over and the crappy music remains' and 'someplace where I can play all that other good, good sh!t that I love to spin without having to rock a 500 person room with Michael Jackson tracks all night' (not that we have anything against Mr Jackson). In response to both needs, we created Elevator Sex Muzak.
ESM is a night that lets DJs be the proper sound selectors they are. It is a night where they can rock their personal remixes, the obscure tracks they find crate digging in Tokyo, spacey downtempo breaks, deep digital dub, or even that entire collection of smooth originals that they sample when making beats. The vibe is chill and the space, Kingsize, is amazing.
So after your open bars, your Taco Tuesdays, or your late night in the office, we hope to see you kicking back with us.
NEXT EVENT: DJ MOE CHOI AND SPECIAL GUEST
Date: Tuesday, March 28th Time: 10:00pm - 4:00am Location: Kingsize - 21 Essex Street at Hester Cost: Free
***also for all you DJs, this is an ongoing bi-weekly, so if you have interest in spinning let us know***
Hey People! What's Crackin? This is a friendly public service announcement from your good friends over at FreeNYC. So lets see where should we begin...
Ok, Well first I would like to thank you all for hittin up the site all the time and your continued love and support in sending us events and helpful feedback. Second, the status report. As I usually say, big things happening over here, there is a redesign in the works which looks hot (thanks to Chris, your marvelous designer-writer-publisher super power). The live recordings/podcasts are going great! We have gotten some amazing local NYC DJ sets, and are recording our first comedy show tonight. Plus, keep a look out for some upcoming parties that FreeNYC has a hand in.
Third and most crucial today, our writing staff. A big welcome back to our friend Tessa, who left to travel about the world and has just returned to us. Look for her to be gettin posts out to you pretty soon. Lindsay F is doing a bangin' job and will be with us until May when she returns to her native land across the pond. Now here is where you come in... WE NEED WRITERS!
Now I know working for free isn't exactly what anyone loves to do, but it is really great exposure and a good opprotunity to get your words out there. Besides writing about the normal nightlife and music scene and the upcoming barrage of spring time activities we are also looking for someone with a strong knowledge of art, 'cause really my descriptions of art as "pretty" just aint cuttin it. Also, maybe we can get a guy up in here, as i think the estrogen is really starting to out number Chris! So all that being said if you have any interest in getting involved, hit us up via MySpace or email us at Contact@freenyc.net.
I hope you are all having a great Winter, and in case your not obsessed with snowboarding like we are, remember Spring is just around the corner!
Beautiful Decay is at it again with another heavy hitting launch party. Ursula 1000, Neil Armstrong, The Bangers (all three!) and DJ Synapse all take to the tables with a rotating onslaut of hip-hop, turntableism, funk, and more. Open bar from 9-11 gets you going and makes the cover worth it.
Date: Friday, February 17th
Time: 9:00pm
Location: Libation (137 Ludlow between Stanton and Rivington)
