GREETINGS!
All This Week: the internet radio station www.iLike2Rock.net , is featuring Fremont John. They have a featured F.J. song, "Storm Warning" a featured FJ Band video of "No Pity On Me". The featured CD is my "Timeline" CD. Jericho's Wall and No Pity On Me rose all the way to 1 on the iLike2Rock music charts in recent weeks. Be sure to check out my page at www.ilike2rock.net/fremontjohn and please play my songs.
Later This Week:
- I will be performing live on Tampa's largest and favorite public radio station WMNF 88.5 fm, Tampa, FL – Please tune in to WMNF 88.5 fm or get online this THURSDAY, AUG. 21 at 9:00 am. You will hear new tunes as well as old ones. I am promoting my appearance at the Ka' Tiki songwriter showcase later that night at the Ka' Tiki bar on St. Pete's Beach. I am the featured artist that night. Also, listen to WMNF online often and when you do be sure to request Fremont John tunes.
- Please Join Me! Thursday, Aug. 21, 9pm, Ka' Tiki, St. Pete's Beach, Featured Artist - Fremont John: The fun really starts here around 7:00pm on Thursday night when Tampa Bay's aspiring songwriters and performers come to try their stuff on a live audience. It's Open Mic night, hosted by Pete Gallagher and Pat Barmore – WMNF, at the Ka' Tiki Bar on St. Pete's Beach. Open Mic lasts until 9:00pm when the evening's Featured Artist comes on to top off the night. Many of Tampa's and Florida's most favored artists have been featured over the years. Come out and join me on my night as Featured Artist.
Early Next Month -VIDEO: I am talking to a Key West videographer about filming a live video of the Fremont John Band at Sloppy Joe's Bar in Key West, September 3-6. We'll include some of our best songs being played live by the band at Sloppy Joe's and we will show interview footage of each band member, Bubba Lownotes, Randy Morrow and myself. DVDs are expected to be available in Oct./Nov., 2008. DON'T FORGET TO WATCH US ON THE SLOPPY-CAM! September 3 – 6, 5:30pm – 9:30pm
Later Next Month - Sacred Grounds Coffee House, Thursday, September 28 @ 9pm: I am excited about my first coffee house gig. I am a songwriter and the coffee house atmosphere (like a good house-concert) provides a listening experience rather than a party environment that is so prevalent in the bar scene. People are there for the music. That is their purpose. Their purpose changes everything. I hope you will join me Thursday, September 28, 9pm at Sacred Grounds Coffee House,
Continuing: I still need votes at SongVault.fm! A voting system there lets fans determine the position of a song on the charts. Jericho's Wall, Timeline and No Pity On Me are all rising but they need your vote to earn permanent rotation status at www.SongVault.fm . They're so close! If you've already voted, thank you very much, it is helping I just need a few more to get the songs there.
Next Year: West Shore Community College, Scottville, MI – Show is Sat. May 2, 2009: Season promotional flyers are out and I'm on there. As a graduate of WSCC, I am very excited to be performing there. It's going to be a great show. Stay tuned for more.
BUY MY MUSIC DIRECTLY FROM ME: My music is available at most online music stores and download sites. But if you purchase my CDs and/or digital song downloads directly from my web site, I do not have to pay the 30%-40% commission. The money comes to me. You can use PayPal for your transaction.
Hope to see you at a performance very soon. Thank you very much for supporting my music and my dream. Without you, it's meaningless and quite impossible
All the best to you and yours,
Fremont John

The Story of Stuff (video)
Category: Life
SEASONS GREETINGS & HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
I received the following e-mail from Lady Qi. I watched and decided that the "Story of Stuff" video is much too timely and too well done not to share it with all of you. Margi, "Lady Qi" writes:
"This is so important ... especially at this time of year when we are SO focused on what to 'buy' for each other for the holidays. Please take a few minutes to watch this critical message and then think of ways to make a difference this year. Bright blessings, Margi~*" Go to: http://www.storyofstuff.com/
Enjoy,
Fremont John www.fremontjohn.com

FREMONT JOHN - BIO
Current mood: blessed
FREMONT JOHN
BIO
"If you want a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things." - Albert Einstein
Fremont John and his band, Acoustic Thunder, performed for 2,000 people this past New Year's Eve at the Wild-in-the-Winter gala event in Chattanooga, TN surprising everyone there when "They had them out of their seats on the first song!"
Touring continually throughout the state of Florida, John plays at least, 200 gigs per year while steadily broadening his worldwide fan base. It's a fan base that took root during his 6 years of daily performances on Duval St. in Key West. There, in 2003, he was doing up to 15 shows per week! He currently boasts over 3,000 people on his e-mail list and connects with another 2,500 online via MySpace and FaceBook as well as several other music networking sites. In 2006, he was the 1 Top-booked artist at SonicBids.com beating out over 150,000 member artists! He continues to rank steadily in the Top-20! He has twice been featured on Tampa's large public radio station, WMNF-88.5FM and is scheduled for another live, on-air show on August 21, 2008.
The intense attraction people feel with Fremont John is to the sheer intensity of his emotion coupled with his strong performance ability and unique style. Whether he's playing one of his brilliant originals or a discriminately selected cover tune, he totally owns the song, playing it in a way that only he will. Edgar Struble, Music Director - 2008 Country Music Awards " says of John: "He sings like a man on a mission of purpose!" It's almost as if he bleeds, sweats and wrenches the songs from some deep inner place. Vocally, think Jonny Lang or Rob Thomas. His melodic, hook-laden guitar leads soar like a wonderfully fresh acoustic blend of Santana and David Gilmour as he layers and loops part after part bringing forth a sort of guitar orchestra. His ability, sound quality and emotion cross the generation lines giving his fan-base a wide age demographic.
A powerful songwriter, Fremont John shows immense respect for his audience by sculpting songs with intelligent lyrics, and resonant messages. A TAXI reviewer recently wrote, "songs…show a vast understanding of writing, arranging, and overall musical wisdom."
His song-demo wowed NYC record producer Larry Baeder, leading to the 2006 indie CD release, "Timeline". Two songs from that CD, "No Pity On Me" and "Devil's Dune" were semi-finalists in the 2006 Dallas Songwriters Assn. songwriting contest. Neil Young includes "Devil's Dune" on his web site and, the song appears on several compilation CDs sent to our troops in the Mid-East. A national radio campaign for "Timeline" resulted in FM airplay in many cities while global airplay comes via hundreds of Internet stations.

DEVIL'S DUNE - LYRICS (by request)
Current mood: accomplished
"Devil's Dune" Lyrics (honoring the soldiers)
DEVIL'S DUNE (A soldier's song) words and music by Fremont John Ashton Copyright 2003 CD: "Timeline"
I left my wife and little kids behind Now, I'm holed up in this desert blind oh, oh I wanna go home. And leave this Devil's Dune. I'm here to fight in this Iraqi war. To take a life is something I abhor, oh oh I wanna go home. And leave this Devil's Dune. Sleepless nights for endless Days we fight that menace In this sandy haze As the oil wells blaze. Wind and sand are blinding Here we stand not finding Any hope of rest Still, we give our best. They said this war wouldn't last too long. We'll hit 'em hard with our "Shock and Awe" oh, oh I wanna go home. And leave this Devil's Dune. And though, it's harder than at first we planned. Let freedom ring in this desert land oh, oh Then, we can all go home. And, leave this Devil's Dune. Sleepless nights for endless Days we fight that menace In this sandy haze As the oil wells blaze. Wind and sand are blinding Here we stand not finding Any hope of rest. Still, we give our best. We fought a bloody battle through the night. I lost my buddy in the firefight oh, oh Some good American's died. On this Devil's Dune. I pray this war will be over soon. We'll be the victors on this Devil's Dune oh, oh. Still, I wanna go home And leave this Devil's Dune. Oh oh. I wanna go home and leave this Devil's Dune Oh oh. I'll bid salaam, shalom to this Devil's Dune.

Rhythm Trax for new CD completed in Key West
Current mood: accomplished
Category: Music
This last trip to Key West, earlier this month, was not only to play gigs but to get some recording done. The stars, the planets and the moon all lined up. Ivan "Funkboy" Bodley (bass) was in from NYC as was Richard Crooks (drums), you remember Richard from my "Timeline" CD. Our focus this time was to just get the bass and drum tracks recorded for use later. We recorded 12 songs, half original and half cover-tunes. Ivan played bass on all the original songs and on 3 of the covers. Ivan and Richard have a long history of playing together and gave me just what I needed. These guys are just incredible!
Bubba Lownotes played on the other 3 cover tunes. I have to say that Bubba played brilliantly. Wait 'til you hear the groove he laid down on "The Thrill Is Gone".
Ivan was just featured in the March issues of "Bass Player Magazine" as well as in "Bass Guitar Magazine". Ivan is a Berklee grad and a world-class musician who has played with many greats. You can check him out here on MySpace. He's in my Top-20 along with my other favorite bass player, Fernando Saunders (from the "Timeline" CD).
Larry Baeder was on hand as Producer, once again. Larry produced "Timeline" and that album is absolutely freakin' great! Just in case you don't already know that. The new album will be just as good and in some ways, even better.
I am genuinely and deeply honored and privileged to have these opportunities to play with the likes of Ivan Bodley, Fernando Saunders, Rob Leon, Richard Crooks, Larry Baeder and many other world-class musicians who have made a career of supporting the greats in music. I am just as honored to now have them as friends, too.
The new CD remains nameless though, some of the songs that may give title to it include "Back In The Game" and "Contrarian". But who knows, maybe the CD title won't be a song title.
It is an expensive process to produce a great CD. I am in the process now of finding funding. The first step is paid for. The rest will be completed as the money is there to do it.
If you would be interested in kicking in to help get this new CD completed, contact me here or at my regular e-mail: fremontjohn@fremontjohn.com
Best,
Fremont John
