Guess what? Our album is finally done
Category: Music
Hello pals -
Our album is finally done. Thank God, that only took like 4 years...
Beau Sorenson (le producér) finished the mixes yesterday at Madison's Smart Studios. We are going to Phoenix very soon to trick out the masters with Roger Seibel, who's skills are ridiculous.
Not too many shows coming up right now, but there are a couple in the Midwest.
I am boring myself, so I am leaving. Thanks for reading.

Glory: Talking with Les Paul on the phone
Thanks to the glorious mike hoffman, I had the distinct pleasure to have a phone conversation with the legendary Les Paul the other day.... I had to write about this, because it was one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me. He was super cool and very kind to talk to. Speaking as a guitar player, this was the equivalent for me to a history buff getting to talk with Abraham Lincoln. Nothing will ever top this one. Les is still playing a weekly gig in NYC, which he told me is a lot of fun. The man is in his 90's and still carries his own guitar into his gigs. Let that be a lesson to all you spoiled ass famous guitar players, carry your own shit. so much glory chris

How to Gimp your way through a major festival event!
Hello there,
Chris Vos here. Now that the band has safely arrived back in Milwaukee from Austin, I thought I would take the time to share a hilarious, yet painful, personal experience that I had this week. Allow me to explain:
On the morning that the band was to leave for Austin, my wife and myself were awoken by the sound of breaking glass in our kitchen. Of course, we both jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen doorway to see what was happening. What we found was that the beloved family pet, "Fuzz" the cat, had climbed up on top of our kitchen cabinets and was knocking down vintage glass plates. Of course, once Fuzz realized he had been caught being bad he jumped down from the cabinet, and in the process of doing so, knocked over a large plate onto my bare feet. The result was a gushing wound on my right foot that was bleeding so badly it looked like a murder had happened in my kitchen. The end result was that I needed eight stitches on my right foot to stop the bleeding. Again, this is literally one hour before I am supposed to leave with the band for Austin.
To make a long story short, I spent a great deal of my SXSW experience on crutches hobbling around and looking like a pale, pathetic, midwestern lumberjack, gimp! Luckily, having been a longtime Milwaukee resident, I have gained an extensive knowledge on the glorious pain killing properties of beer! However, my "beer for pain" philosophy did have it’s negative side effects; mostly coming from the fact that SXSW is a crazy and fast paced festival where you must walk everywhere. Believe me, I seriously underestimated the complications of trying to balance with one foot and crutches while at kick ass shows packed with fellow drunkards who were all are standing on two healthy feet!
Lowpoint of the week: Watching all the members of the band ride horses at the Tovar Ranch in Oklahoma, while I sat drunkenly near the sandbox trying to avoid contact with a stray dog that, who like me, looked like it had seen better days.
Highpoints of the week: Playing the festival, hanging with Page Hamilton, giving David Fricke a cd, drinking with the the Tovar family in OK, hanging with Evan, Tom, Mario, Jeff, and a bunch of other crazy knuckleheads.
Anyhow, SXSW was a blast and I tried not to allow my gimpy foot to screw up the festival experience too much.
Stitches come out this Friday!
Glory chris

Show review & SXSW wrap-up
We are on our way home now - just south of Dallas. SXSW was very good to us, indeed. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us on all 3 nights!
I saw countless amazing shows and got to catch a bunch of my favorite bands like the Raveonettes and Trail of Dead. I also caught some fellow Milwaukee bands like Call Me Lightning, Collections of Colonies of Bees, and one song from Cougar Den - all whom were absolutely fantasic, for the record.
Josh is listening to Van Halen’s "Eruption" in the front of the van, and it is making me naucious, so I have to stop typing now (or I may puke all over my laptop).
But - before I go - you should check out some notes from our first show, that our dear friend Ryan posted on Muzzle of Bees - HERE
In addition to that - Milwaukeeans should look out for the newest Shepherd Express coming out on Wednesday, which will have some highlights from SXSW and it’s Milwaukee bands - written by Evan Rytlewski (who shared a hotel room with us all week).
"Show Your Love" by Van Halen is now on in front . . . I moved from wanting to puke to trying to stab myself with a spork that I found on the floor. If it was only a little sharper . . .
