DJ gig with Superstyler Delux this Friday!

SuperStyleDeluxe (Dan Holmes & Neil Simons) are responsible for many of the floor rocking Breakbeats and midtempo hits that keep the booty shaking. "Making music you can dance too" has been the aim and moto since the whole concept began.
It started with the mass production of mix tapes titled SuperStyleDeluxe and adventuring into the realms of hip hop- Breaks Disco etc. All laden with a sprinkle of Turntableism this became the trademark for the young superstyedeluxe and selling them at the local legendary club Stump Juice based in Wolverhampton UK where Dan (the DJ) up held his residency with those heavy weight Latinos The Capoeira Twins. Population and demand for the mixes snow bald, gaining magazine reviews and reaching as far off as Europe & Canada.
Production and tunes soon started flowing and a record contract was secured with Hamburg's Lounge Records. A barrow load of releases followed all gaining props from the Plump Dj's Krafty Kuts- Mr Scruff for their unique sound and diverse approach to making dance records. Remixes have seen Dido, Bent, Venus Hum, Reno, Pink, Stabilizer, Circuit Breaker & The Strike Boys to name but a few to receive the SuperStyleDeluxe treatment.
The pair have achieved great praise with Breaks poll nominations, number one chartings and worldwide exposure with their releases. This has resulted in a SuperStyleDeluxe record sitting in many a dj's box. The pair are now coming off Brighton's" Heavy Weight" breaks label "SuperCharged/Against The Grain" with the long awaited debut album sitting nicely in the Pipeline. And if that wasnt enough they have just started a brand new label called The Payback Project which is making all the right moves The clubbing circuit has seen the introduction of Mc Chickaboo to the SuperStyleDeluxe DJ show. Recent releases with Chickaboo and heavy touring has placed them among the top DJ/ Mc acts. With tours from Europe, Canada,Australia & Asisa. Their acclaimed shows have been one of the hottest things coming out of the UK.

Last.FM & the Day Of Silence.

I've paid for the last.fm service – I don't want it going silence, else I want a refund.
Screw this political movement bull dung!
Does anyone REALLY think this day of silence will do anything?
If Americans want to fight the power, then FIGHT THE POWER! Get your guns and storm Washington and fight the injustices your government is causing you and the rest of the world.
It is George Bush and his Republican party that allowed these increases, that allows the RIAA and MPAA to ride rough trod all over individuals.
It is your right as Americans to take up arms against your oppressors, and if this isn't the right time then what the hell is?
But as long as you support your politicians and the current form of 'democracy' and 'capitalism', and protest with impotent gestures like a day of silence, nothing will change, so suck it down and SHUT THE FUCK UP!
These little protests will achieve nothing!
How is it fair that my enjoyment of Last.fm, a service I have paid for, is negatively impacted because of a political movement that ultimately will have no impact on LAST.fm anyway?
Last.FM's point is this – THEY'VE BEEN DOING THE RIGHT THING SINCE DAY ONE!
Instead of jumping into the online music game and saying "I'm not going to pay artists the money they deserve, I'm going to break laws to play the music I want" Last.fm actually thought and planned how to go about it as a business and supply us with a decent service whilst keeping the music publishers happy.
As individuals people have the right to not play Last.fm and support the day of silence, but as a company that people have paid money to, last.fm have an obligation to provide us with that service.
Support the day of protest by not playing Last.fm and not Scrobbling, but don't force your American ideals and issues on the wider world audience.

I will work at getting the 2007 interviews online over the next week.
Apologies for the lack of formatting on the new articles - the solution to my problem has been to shut off the TinyMCE section of my website, so now I have to write everything in HTML... and I can't be bothered, so no bold or italics in the news stories for the moment...
At least there's line breaks! =)

Don't believe the hype!

Remember that story about those horrible animal activists who wanted to have that mega cute little polar bear called Knut put down?
For example THIS STORY
The cute little fella was even in the Colbert (or should that be Colbear?) Report!
Well, the whole story is a fiction. A lie*.
There's a bear called Knut, and that's about the extent of the "truth" behind this story.
Thank the world for mediawatch!
I just wanted to bring this up to say that journalists never do their jobs correctly. I know the reasons for this - lack of funds, lack of time, publishing deadlines - but I don't CARE about them any more.
In any other industry, if something similar happened, the people who took this story as truth and reported it from the AP feed would all be sacked.
Yet I'm betting in 90% of newspapers and websites you won't even see a correction, let alone an apology to all involved.
It's utterly disgusting that these people go about their lives, after ruining the lives of others, without any feelings of guilt or remorse after reporting a story so badly. The media has totally screwed this up, and are unapologetic about it, and it makes me so angry!
Please, to all my readers, all 3 of you, can you link to this post, to the mediawatch page, blog about it, email about it, just spread the word about this, and get the media to admit their mistake and apologise to the men whose lives have been threatened with violence because of this poorly researched story.
*I'd go further and say it's a dirty smear campaign against Animal Rights and those who support them, and then by extension the Leftist and Green movements, but that would make me seem paranoid...

JAM R.I.P

Yes, I'm sad to inform you all that the Jam @ Mojo is no more.
The official Jam page has all the information, but I've just got to add my 2 cents.
It was the Jam that open my ears and mind and how sees me liking Garage, 2Step, and Dubstep.
The fun I've had at the Jam over the last 5 years is unmeasurable! So many drunken nights, so many funny chats, so much cool music.
Some of my best sets have been at the Jam. One time there wasn't many people at 1pm, so Grif said I could go on at 1:30, because there was noone there. About 15 minutes later, a whole crew of plumbers comes in after some work gig. I step up, and start playing some of my more slamming breaks, and they absolutely went sick! It was awesome.
One of my favourite stories is from my ex, Ribbon. She was at the bar buying a drink, and a girl came up to her and started chatting. She said "I saw you chatting to that DJ. He's really hot (or cute, or other complimentary term... I can't recall exactly... It DID happen a while ago now after all  ) Can you give him my number?(or introduce me or similar... remember - long time ago)"
Ribbon, being nice as pie, said something like "I will, but I better let you know he's my boyfriend".
Now that Ribbon's my ex, I really wish that girl had the gumption to give Ribbon her number anyway 
But we're looking for a new venue, and hopefully the new place won't be as sketchy as Mojo in terms of the crowd they get.
We're not the only casualty - Quazza's night (I think it's his excellent 80s night, but not sure) has also been canned
