Obama O’Shut Up
Current mood: jolly
Category: News and Politics

So, I finally got around to watching one of those Barack Obama speeches that I hear so much about. You know, the ones that make women faint, men weep, inspire young and old alike.

How can I put this, my expecation versus my experience?

I was expecting Isla Fisher in a string bikini and ended up with a full frontal Ernest Borgnine.

Obama's popularity is proof of a few things:

1. People REALLY REALLY hate Hilary Clinton.
2. People can't wait for someone to take care of them...with my money.
3. Even if you are only half black, but can orate well, you can become the face of the Democrat party.
4. Either no one in the Democrat party understands economics or they do understand economics but loathe the free market.

I had a pretty good lather worked up for a long rant b/c I've hit my apex with the media absolutely taking this guy to the thighs, but I'll keep it short.

What an empty suit this guy Barack Obama is.

It might be time to convene a new Continental Congress.

Cruise Week
Current mood: calm
Category: Travel and Places

Well, it's mid-June. And that means I drink. Drink to honor the greatest vacation there ever was, The Cruise.

June 11 thru June 18, 1994

It is hallowed territory, talking about this cruise, with its many life-altering moments. It's weird how certain moments in time can shape the rest of your future.

11 friends. 1 boat. Dozens of drinks. 100s of women with no escape. Ah, life on the sea has its privileges.

I still know all too well what many of those folks I met that week are doing nowadays. But, there are others that I met that I'd be curious to know what they're up to (like a where are they now show) and if that trip was also as revered as it is in my circles.

So, a toast to the Cruise!

Cheers!

Movie Review "Idiocracy"
Current mood: Buzzin
Category: Buzzin Movies, TV, Celebrities

Here is my first attempt at a movie review.
"Idiocracy"
Starring Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph and a bunch of other people you'll recognize, especially if you've seen Office Space.
This is a Mike Judge movie. Same dude who wrote Office Space, Beavis and Butthead.
Anyway, the movie is really fuckin funny, so watch it.

"Hot Chic who is just a regular girl" wants to be your friend
Current mood: happy
Category: MySpace

One of these days I am going to delete a legitimate Friend Request because I will confuse it for spam.

I receive so many Friend Requests from chics advertising their own special photo sites and other junk, it's enough to make me wanna...well, blog about it I guess. Sometimes they send email messages, but the outcome is always the same...the delete bin.

The first few times I got the requests, I read their pages and then quickly realized that some of verbiage was almost identical. They are all just new to Myspace, really regular girls who just want to take pictures of themselves, and share them with me, blah blah blah. Oh, and a good bit of them like John Mayer and Sudoku. Now it's just gotten really annoying.

It gets worse each time I update my page. In fact, after posting this blog, I will probably have 5 or 6 new Friend Requests and alas, none will be because someone wants to be my friend. But they might wanna be my "Adult Friend".

Ok, off to meet all my new friends...

Hail Thoth
Current mood: indescribable

Oh, what a ride Thoth was today! The weather was incredible. Wall to wall sunshine! I was like a kid at Christmas, couldn't sleep last night waiting for today.

The crowds on Magazine, Napoleon, and St. Charles were electric. It's about a 3 1/2 hour ride, but it feels about 45 minutes.

Can't wait to do it again next year when we ride on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3, 2008!

Whoo! What a Day!

I resolve...
Current mood: determined

I could just resolve that 2007 will be better than 2006, but that might be out of my control. After all, 2006 slipped out of my control as well. But, on the other hand, could things possibly get worse?  Just a rhetorical question...don't wanna jinx myself.

For 2007, I'd like to work closer to home, which means looking for a new job b/c I'm not gonna move. Driving the Causeway everyday gives me ample opportunity to listen to lots of good music on my XM Radio, but mostly it's just a time destroyer. Oh, not doing that commute seems almost too good to be true, but I shall pursue the improbable.

For 2007, I would like to continue my goal of getting in shape by dropping another 10-15 lbs.  I've begun to tone myself up and dropped a few lbs since beginning to work out in August, but I'm not satisfied yet. I'm not a large guy;  I just want to be "fit".

So, 2 simple resolutions. Ok, let's make it a 3rd. No matter what happens beyond my control in 2007, I will maintain focus on my goals.

Sorry for the boring blog post, but I figured if it was published, I'd be more likely to stick to it.

He even left a streak
Current mood: cheerful
Category: Life

**Warning: Some Material May Be Considered Offensive**

"Poopy, daddy, poopy"!

And with that, I got my son to the toilet for his first ever big boy #2.

Last weekend, we decided to go cold turkey on diapers and go full swing into potty training. It's been somewhat frustrating, but after only 6 days, jackpot!  He did pee a few times in the potty although he also refers to that as "poopy".

Funny thing is that I was on the phone with my Internet Service Provider when he got my attention. So, she heard everything although she admitted not knowing what was going on until I began cheering for him and him exclaiming, "Flush!"

Turn away if you don't want to read a cheesy ridicuolous pun.

last chance...

So, I got to log in while my son got to log out.

I warned you!

Never a prouder moment in fatherhood!

Jolly Good Felon
Current mood: exhausted

For the first time in my life, I served on a jury this week.

I always thought that I'd never be picked for a criminal jury because, well, because I don't think I look like I'd fall for clever Johnnie Cochran rhymes and I wasn't wearing mittens in the courtroom like one of the other jurors.  Turns out I didn't need the mittens to get picked.

So, this guy was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute a controlled substance, specifically cocaine, more specifically crack cocaine. His attorney desperately wanted the jury to believe his client was just a junkie and should be convicted only of simple possession.

The only problem was that the evidence didn't support simple possession and it wasn't much of a leap of faith to believe he would distribute since he had 2 prior convictions on distribution. So, we nearly unanimously (11 to 1) voted Guilty as Charged. Fortunately, we didn't need a unanimous verdict.

So, this guy is going back to prison, but this time it's for the rest of his years. I felt bad for his father, who sat dejectedly in the courtroom but didn't appear surprised at the verdict. He had been here before.

I got to learn a good bit about the whole process and, if the pay was better, I wouldn't mind sending a felon to prison for life every week.

Feel free to think I'm a douchebag.
