Sharrone Mitchell: To be honored at African World Festival

Sharrone called me a few days ago and let me know that there will be a special tribute to honor her at the upcoming African World Festival this Friday, August 15 at Hart Plaza from 8-9pm.

The organizers are connecting with runway talent which has been in Fashion In The Streets in 2006 and 2007. I haven't heard a lot of the details on this and yet I've got to get them post on Sharrone's website. Wish me luck in pulling this through along with everything going on for several other events/websites as well.

I'm working at getting Sharrone's website working again, but we've got some billing issues to resolve. All I can do is promise soon.

Thursday evening I'll be meeting with Diamondancer (Carolyn), Sharrone, and likely a few other people to bring additional details together. Talent for the show will be meeting at 5pm on Friday. I have been speaking with 5 models the past two days whom we are looking forward to seeing in the show. These are models that I've worked with and know they will work extremely well in the show and have a walk that Sharrone will be pleased with.

There will be 20 female models in the show, many are returning from Fashion In The Streets shows and prior shows held by Sharrone. As far as the male counterpart of the show that is being managed by Mark England and I anticipate meeting with him Thursday evening.

Loyalty

I feel like being read and mentioned ... so check this out. It is a partial response in a dialog I was having around the web. Comment and let me know if you share my point of view.

Loyalty comes in many forms and loyalty to self and the purposes you hold closest should come BEFORE any 'popular' or controversial test to loyalty. It is the same sickness that has created the astounding rate of divorce. People are always looking for the next best thing. Sometimes it isn't about something outside what you have going on. Use some introspection and redefine yourself in a way that is inspiring. Not just self-inspiring but awesome news for your partner(s) as well.

Funny thing is we discover inspiration outside the box of our mind and that is a fearful dreaded place that we've been told is unsafe. Do you think the inventions that change the world around us were made within the box of safe thinking? GET FRIGGIN CREATIVE AND TALK ABOUT IT. Give me a comment and let me know where that freight train that just took off in your mind is headed, or shoot a note if it has to be for 'private viewing'.

Questing for desktop Utopia - Digsby

I'm connected to Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Technorati, De.lilico.us, Bebo, and something like 30-50 more platforms and its going into overload. www.SoulCommune.com and a few others were added in the last couple days.

So as I'm checking how people are tweeting updates I see that Nina Mo is using Digsby. Now this is beta software and not for the social network newbie and honestly would probably scare 90% of people away. True social network junkies I think are going to love it, but also feel like - D@M I have a HUMONGOUS network of people to reach out and tap. What to do about that? I guess keep tapping because some just don't listen to taps and others do. But the real question is, do I have to consciously tap people or can they just kinda know that I'm working on something cool and would love to have them involved. I wish I had the ability to broadcast telepathically and let you all know what's going on!

I want to seriously thank my loyal readers and especially those that actually interact with me in a face-to-face manner. I can't tell you how many freak stalkers are out there. Yes it makes me want to clam up and keep quiet sometimes. But that won't serve my purpose of extending knowledge about Detroit's creative talent throughout metro Detroit and beyond. So to all you stalkers - the fate of karma is a bitch you really don't want to meet face to face. Shame on you and yours if you seek to keep word down and HUSH is your mode of operation. Doing that truely is the sign of a hood rat. I know someone is going to giggle, since I've used the term twice now in one week. I know of people holding events this weekend who haven't talked to me about publicity on their event and play down what I might bring them in terms of an audience. Funny thing is you only see who I know from your perspective. Work with me and get known outside your circle because the circle of light we each cast reaches to different people. Combined the light extends not double but greater than that.

Abandoned In Detroit photoshoot THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday, August 10 from 10am - 5pm will be the next photoshoot for the fashion showcase project.

I've been assembling talent and hoping that talent which had indicated interest in the past have kept in touch with progress of the project. From my blog you'll see that I've had a few website development projects and events being planned.

Yes the shoot is on for this Sunday and I would like to ask talent participating to give me a call on the phone (note that is the thing you speak into, NOT a myspace message). My phone number is 248-632-6156. I'll write down your information and discuss particulars about the upcoming shoot.

There are four designer slots in the upcoming shoot - I've chopped out two hours of time to make the shoot a bit faster paced and focused. Coordinators will be asked to arrive a half hour early, this is to bring our collective minds together the day of the shoot and be on the same page.

Existing talent in the shoot - please bring $15 to cover makeup / hair / coordination fees for holding the shoot.

This is a full day fashion shoot. The project has an entrance fee for models and photographers. Designers, makeup artists, and hair stylists - this is an excellent way to bring your portfolio up quickly and meet new talent on a recurring basis through the photoshoots. We have a growing catalog of work that has come through the project. This will be presented in the fall/winter in various forms.

The past few days I've been working quickly but I could use some help on the content of the website www.SoldierRockFashBash.com. I'd like to ask the talent that is in the show to register on the site and setup a profile and talk about yourself.

Fashion Designers: We have room for 3 more designers in the show to be held at the Emerald Theater in downtown Mount Clemens. Please contact info@soldierrockfashbash.com with a few photos of your line. We ask that at least one outfit has a military inspired theme.

Runway models, Salons, Makeup Artists, Hair Stylists: Designers are going to need support so we are holding a call for talent on Thursday, July 31 from 7-9pm in downtown Mount Clemens. Location specifics will be announced through the website.

Detroit Erotic Arts Collective

I've signed up to be present at the group photoshoot of the Detroit Erotic Arts Collective on August 2-3 at MONA in Pontiac. Both dates I'll be available as a makeup artist asking for a $15 kit fee to do makeup for the models. If you have some far out looks you'd like to see me bring together let's see what can be done.

Saturday, August 2 will be a day primarily working on makeup, and also partnering with Shane Glenn, photographer.

Sunday August 3 will be for fetish/bondage photography with Submissive Tales.

When/if you signup please indicate your Model Mayhem profile number and mention that you heard about it through Fuzzytek. Our schedules are fairly open at this time, so message if you'd like to be shooting here.

This brings me to another matter ... if I have to pay to get into an event and you do too ... why aren't we shooting outside that? Curious mind wants to know.

Abandoned In Detroit - August 10???

I'm in a quandary. I have organizations that would like to partner with the project in holding a fashion show of talent. However they aren't planning events such that it works with the mode of the project in so far as shooting.

There was a piss-poor turnout in June, it seems everyone is off doing their own thing. So I nixed off shooting this Sunday, July 20. Yeah that sucks, but I want to have a decent turnout and last month was absolutely sickening.

So I turned toward making the new date August 16 and doing something with the Dream Cruise and making it significant.... then the partner organizations put a nix to that concept. OK - they want to make it August 23... then today I'm seeing the structure for that date has nothing that works for the project.

~throws hands in air~ What the hell!
In an effort toward getting the project back on track I'm considering a few options and would like some feedback from the participants and persons interested. It is the middle of summer and there have been successful shoots in April and May, with a partial success in June. While July would appear to be a good time to shoot... there have been few people inquiring.

From the options I've mulled over about shooting on Sundays through August the best date appears to be Sunday August 10. Location can be an outdoor space in south Detroit near my studio location off Jefferson. This space has a lot of drama in the industrial landscape and is next to a river.


And I'll also throw this in... if I don't hold the Abandoned In Detroit shoot on August 10 at this location I'll simply hold a group shoot for Submissive Tales there the same date. If those people interested in fashion can't get it together I know people involved with fetish that can and do.

Random Detroit Area News

Tiger Stadium is being demolished. You'll find quite a few people are documenting through photos on Flickr - click this link to drill through all "tiger stadium" tagged photos.

Carl Oxley III is holding an art exhibition of a different sort at Pinwheel Bakery from July 17 until August 17. You'll find his "Pop Art Monkeys" in edible form and in paintings on the walls. I believe you can also inquire about t-shirts.

Diva Dollz News

Yesterday we held a photoshoot contest with season 2's group of Diva Dollz. The photos were taken at Gina T's studio at 4731 Gallery, and at Ambrose's studio. I was on-site documenting the contest and squeezing in a few photos / video clips. Watch the website for updates soon. The photos have to go through approval and selection for publication. There will be an article in Native Detroiter featuring Doll House Production's Diva Tv. Photos from the shoots will be included in the article.

Today I'm meeting with our next Sexy Singles to be featured on wwwRealDivaTv.com.

Later tonight I'll be shooting at Ciao Bella being held by Dolce Moda at MOCAD with Shane and Sean, my photo assistants. Gianlucca is unfortunately out of town.

Got a message from Claus Bachor and a call from Germany about publishing a photo of Jeff Mills in a magazine there in Germany.

Also got a phone call about a potential job as a website developer. Geez - hard to think of regular hours after so many hours freelancing. But I seriously need steady paying work.

Check into the 313FAD.com site - one of the latest postings is an announcement seeking designers to cast in Season 6 of Project Runway. Deadline is VERY VERY soon, so get there ASAP.
