Camping Trip Part 2
Current mood: happy

So, we just returned Wednesday from our week long camping trip at Spring Mill State Park. We stayed 5 nights and 6 days. Most people would think that was a terribly long time to camp, especially with a baby, but I was sad to go. We had a really great time. Our site was the most beautiful site on the grounds as we had a beautiful view of the tree line. The only downside was that it wasn't shaded at all during the day and it could get really hot! We didn't hike a whole lot due to not having the proper baby stroller or baby hiking gear, but we did get to go on a hayride and we visited the pool twice. Sebastian loves the water, especially when there are other kids his age there. We also played tennis and visited local antique stores and the other surrounding towns where we found the best biscuits and gravy and the most awesome peanut butter pie. The only really issue we had was that there was a skunk family that lived in the brush right in front of our tent. Every night, 1 or 2 skunks would step out and walk past us as we sat around the fire. It was one of those instances where you don't know whether to move away or stay real still. It's amazing that in 5 nights of seeing these little guys that we didn't get sprayed. We also had a raccoon visitor each night who liked to steal our trash right in front of us. I swear those things are so smart!! We constantly had the flashlight on trying to see whatever was coming out of the brush be it skunks or raccoons, and the raccoon would hide until we turned the flashlight off for 10 seconds and then he'd be right beside you. The funniest incident was while I was on skunk/racoon detail while Tim roasted a marshmallow for his s'more, I got distracted and the second I turned to look at Tim, I jumped because the raccoon was right next to him and had the chocolate and graham cracker in his little furry hand, getting ready to steal Tim's S'more. It was rather startling, but also very funny. Anyway, I look forward to our next camping trip. Surprisingly, the evenings were very cool and the weather cooperated every day. I think next time we'll try and visit the Dunes.

P.S. Happy Birthday Big Brother!!!! I love you and I think about you every day. I miss you terribly!!!

Baby's First Haircut
Current mood: pleased

I finally broke down and had my mom cut Sebastian's hair. It was really tough to see those curls go, and see my baby immediately go from baby to little man, but he sure looks handsome.

Busy Week
Current mood: busy

The summer weeks just seem to be packed with things. Suessical rehearsals, auditions for bands and shows, gigs, birthdays, vacations, camping, and so much more, that to find time to post anything becomes a feat within itself. This weekend I had everything planned out down to the hour!

Friday, Dad and Linda took us out to Rick's Boatyard for Tim's late birthday. I had never been there and it was a fabulous evening. Even though we had to wait FOREVER for our table and then FOREVER to get our dinner, it was still a very nice evening and it is definitely one of my favorite places. Although I am thinking lunch would be more in our price range. Later that evening, we all went to a local bar to hear a really fabulous band. They really were great, however, there was a very interesting, and not so pretty girl that was completely drunk. Not only was she 5'11" and maybe 100lbs, she was all over, and I literally mean ALL OVER, every single guy in the bar. When I thought she was hitting on Tim by pouring my beer all over his head, it just so happened she was trying to flirt with me. Maybe if she was somewhat attractive, I would've teased and flirted back, but she was all kinds of nasty. She was finally asked nicely to leave after she broke a table. An interesting event to say the least.

Saturday afternoon, Tim took me on a surprise lunch date in Broad Ripple. We went to The Three Sister's Cafe (another in my top favorites) where I had a fabuous pear and brie salad, and then we went to Kiln Creations where we painted 4 ceramic coasters representing each person in the family. I decided that I am not that creative and really lack the patience to make sure that my details come out the way I imagine them. My patience is really tested when Sebastian screams wanting out of his stroller. But it was alot of fun and I look forward to picking up our pieces and going again when I don't have a 1 year old with me.

Sunday, Tim and I had a Powerhouse Groove rehearsal as we are preparing for our Ronald McDonald's Charity gig June 23 at The Artist's Studio in Fishers. It's really going to be a fun time and I would love to see some familiar faces out there. Tickets are $10, but I can sell them in advance for $5. It will be a fun night of dancing, rock, blues brothers, and funk. Come join us that evening.

So, now we're back into a busy week with more Seussical rehearsals and everything in between. I'll keep everyone posted with the latest as soon as I get the chance.

Several Things...
Current mood: mellow

Well, this weekend has been very eventful. After a long week of the 24 hour flu running through the entire house at one time or another, by Friday, it finally hit Dallas when his friends came over for a playdate. That really stunk for Dallas. He really looks forward to friends coming over (I was actually babysitting doing the parents a favor so they could go out for their anniversary.), but when he didn't want any popcorn while watching his movie, we knew he had to be getting sick. The flu finally caught up with him. Hopefully his friends won't take it home.

Saturday, Tim and I went out a bought a bunch of stuff to finally get the yard together. Landscaping is expensive and a lot of hard work. We decided to wait until Sunday to really start putting things together outside since we had a gig Saturday night with Powerhouse Funk. The gig was a lot of fun and it was great to get out in front of a crowd. People were dancing, drinking, and having a great time. I really look forward to playing more with this group.

Sunday, we spent the entire day working on the yard and got a lot of stuff done, but still have a lot more to go. I am completely sore today though. It's starting to look good.

There is one other thing about this weekend that I didn't really take the time to acknowledge, even though it never escaped my mind. Saturday was the 6 year anniversary of my brother's death. It's funny how I never look at the calendar and count down the days to this particular day. Most of the time, I never even think about what the actual date is, but every year, I am a little on edge, and I never really know what's wrong until my subconcious reminds me as to what day it is. Six years goes by really fast, but my brother still crosses my mind at some point every day. It does get easier, but I don't think I can ever forget.

Spring Flu
Current mood: blah

Sorry to all about not blogging anything for quite sometime now. I have to say that I really just haven't felt up to it lately. Not only out of laziness, but sickness now as well. I am now starting to get over a flu bug that has been attacking me for the last 3 days now. Yuck! Sebastian and I were both up all night 2 nights ago getting sick on each other continuously throughout the entire night. Poor Tim had to take care of both of us. Sebastian has seemed to have gotten over his spell of the flu, but mine is defintely hanging on. Hopefully it will have passed completely tomorrow as we have our first gig with Powerhouse Funk! If you're not busy, you should come out and join us at Radio, Radio beginning at 8pm as we debut the new band. The cost is $15 and goes toward leukemia and lymphoma charities. It'll be a great time. Other than that, not a whole lot new going on. Next weekend, Tim and I are taking a 4 day weekend/mini vacation to Cincinnatti to visit museums, zoos, and other interesting things, and just get away. Lord knows I need some time away from this place. I'm sure I will have pictures and more to blog then.

Easter Sunday
Current mood: cheerful

Easter Sunday was nice and relaxing. This is the first holiday that Sebastian has already experienced, and it kinda makes me sad and want to  stop time, but I think he definitely enjoyed Easter and the candy more this year than last year.

He was so handsome at church and loved the mac and cheese, potatoes, green bean casserole, and sweet potatoes for Easter dinner. Tim's mom and dad, along with my mom, also got to share dinner with us, and later that evening, my dad and stepmom showed up with baskets for the kids which included the new Charlotte's Web movie, which was actually pretty cute.

Dallas was on Spring Break the preceeding week, but joined us in the afternoon for dinner and, of course, an egg hunt. It was good for him to come home. Sebastian wasn't a fan of the bunny, and the pictures we have of him, he has a really strange look on his face, but it will be a memory.

Overall, I think Easter was a success and we just did finish off the ham this evening.

Baby's First Birthday
Current mood: chipper

Okay, so Sebastian's 1 year birthday was officially March 18th, but I am just now posting things because this whole week has just been a fly by the seat of your pants kind of week. Orginally, he was to have a super party Saturday afternoon, but due to family emergency, the party was postponed and it was a last minute, simple, family gathering. (Not that Mister Man knew the difference he was so tired.) We had a fun filled evening of TONS of presents and toys (enough to where we actually had to buy a new toybox as well), balloons (which he is still overly fascinated with), and CAKE!!!!! (He LOVES cake!!!) The birthday was an Elmo theme with all Elmo decorations. He got an Elmo chair and of course, the Elmo TMX which made all the adults laugh. I made Sebastian a special cake just for him which was Star from The Goodnight Show on Sprout. We watch it every night during his breathing treatment, and he definitely knew it was him. I did really well and didn't really cry until the end of the evening when I rocked him to sleep when I finally lost it. Where did the time go?? Sebastian is such a wonderful little person with such a fantastic personality. I can't imagine my world without him. Happy birthday little boy!

P.S. We also had professional one year pictures taken where Sebastian devoured yet another cake and the pictures are fabulous. I'll post them as soon as I get them back.

11 Months Old!!
Current mood: bouncy

Mr. Man's first birthday is already almost here. I can't believe it!!! He is such a big boy now and more and more independent each day, but he still loves to snuggle at night and in the morning. Last night, I decided to see how he would do falling asleep in his own room, and he had no problems, it was me who couldn't take being away from him and after just a few hours, I snuck in and brought him back to our room. He was so tired and out of it, he didn't even know I moved him. I know I should've let him finish out the night in his own bed, but I guess I figure, he'll have the rest of his life to sleep in his own room, I wanna hang on to him being a baby for as long as possible. It's me that needs to let go now.

This morning, I took both of the boys out for breakfast. We had pancakes and hashbrowns. Pancakes are one of Sebastian's favorites, which I guess isn't surprising since I craved them so much when I was pregnant. He is such a little man. He learns so much every day. He doesn't crawl, but he knows how to roll wherever he wants to go, he now says "mama" "dada" (which stands both for Dad and Dallas), "bye bye" with the wave, and "yay!!" We are still working on standing alone, but that will come when he is ready. Right now, Sebastian is more concentrated on his dance bop whenever music comes on.

Although recently diagnosed with asthma and requires a breathing treatment at least once a day, he doesn't even fuss. He is such a wonderful person. So much better than I am and so beautiful. We teach each other so much every day, and he is my bestest friend. I love you baby boy!!!!

Bye Bye Joseph
Current mood: satisfied

Well, for those of you who missed Joseph, you definitely missed a terrific show. Not only was the show fantastic, but the ENTIRE cast turned out to be great friends. I have to admit, I was kinda happy it was going to end, simply because I have other things in the works and not much time to devote to them, but now that it is all over, I am already looking forward to next year. Although I can't officially confirm it, I have a very strong feeling that this show brought in the most money and best audiences for The Artist's Studio ever. For every show, the house was packed (Even Saturday afternoons!!) It felt so good to be a part of that. Thanks guys for a great run and thanks Matt for allowing me to be a part of it!!!

Superbowl Champs!!!
Current mood: chipper

Aren't we all so cute in our Colts gear? Yeah, I guess I can take the tags off now and go ahead and keep it and I won't complain any more about the new dome tax. However, I still don't think it's right that most schools are delayed 2 hours. (The news says it's due to cold morning weather. Cold morning weather my ass. How come nobody cared about me waiting for the bus in cold weather when I was in school!) Another thing, I will openly admit that I made Sebastian's awesomely cute outfit, but it's simply because there wasn't anything else out there we liked. It's not like we're selling it anyway and I think it's better than anything else out there right now anyway! Congrats guys!! Way to go!!!

P.S. The Rock, Paper, Scissors ad was my favorite. K-Fed was a close second though. Comment on what were your favs.

Colts, Joseph, and Band News!
Current mood: excited

So last blog, I claimed I had nothing to talk about, but now there are several things and instead of creating 3 seperate blogs, I just thought I would throw them all together into one.

1.) Yay Colts!!! Can I just say that it is about damn time they finally make it to the superbowl. I was really getting tired of getting this far and then blowing it, which, by the way, I wasn't convinced they weren't going to blow it again last night until that final touchdown and then interception. If they win the superbowl, I won't complain about the extra tax on my dine in food that goes toward their new stadium that I don't believe they need, or until now, deserve, but if they win the superbowl, I will at least keep my mouth shut about it unless someone specifially asks me how I feel about it.

2.) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat opened this weekend at The Artist's Studio and had terrific audiences all weekend long. Even though the game began at 6:30 yesterday and our show started at 5:00, we even had about 30 people there. The show looks great. Please come see it. It's a bunch of fun!

3.) When I did Christmas Windows, a former Annie cast member came to see the show and approached me afterward asking me if I would be willing to join his band. Of course I gave him my number and when I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks, I kinda forgot about it. He did call last Sunday however and said he had the entire band together with all the music ready to go and our first practice was yesterday. I knew the professional level of this musician before he asked me to be in his band, so I was really excited and anxious to see what would come about from this rehearsal. The band consists of 11 members. Trumpet, Trombone, Sax, 2 Keyboardists, Precussion, Bass, Lead, 1 Male, and 2 Female singers (Myself and Stacia Matthews from Channel 6 News) . It was a ton of fun and we all sounded great even though we were just running through a list of fun dance and popular wedding/corporate event kind of songs (i.e. Etta James, Chicago, Elvis, Aretha, Cher, and so on). It's so cool to be a part of such a large and talented group of people. (Having horns in a band is so cool!) So, more to come as I find things out. No discussion of name or what is already in the works for performances, but if we play anywhere that isn't a private party, you'll be sure to know, because from the list that we worked on this weekend, you're sure to be on the dance floor all night!!

Nothing to blog
Current mood: content

Well, as you can tell from the title, there really isn't anything too exciting to blog about. Of course I have several extremely cute pictures of mister man that I could post, but really no story or anything exciting behind them. It is his 10 month birthday today, however. 10 MONTHS!!! We are quickly approching a year. He's just so much fun and even though his vocabulary only consists of grunts, cries, and squeals, he still has the most fabulous personality and is one of the funniest people I know. This has definitely been the fastest year of my life, as I have mentioned several times before, but it just keeps getting better with him in my life. I'm still undecided as to what birthday theme we are going to have, but you can bet that I will go all out and have something extremely cute. What the heck, just for the sake of his 10 month anniversary, I'm posting the super cute pictures anyway. I guess I did have something to blog after all.

All the toys he owns and he wants to play with the dog's cheesebirger chew toy. My mom thinks I'm terrible for letting him put a dogs toy in his mouth, but I ate dog food when I was little and let my puppy kiss me on the mouth, so surely it can't harm him too bad.

P.S.  Joseph opens this Friday at The Artists Studio. www.artists-studio.com for more info. I'd love to see you there!
