"A night with Gear.........An insiders review of the evening's proceedings"
The Gear boys made a welcome return to Yorkshire last night, bringing their loyal and trusty band of Cumbrian groupies with them for their latest gig at Leeds' "premier" music venue, The Vine. The boys were on top form as they entertained fans with a medley of toones including last single Liquor, forthcoming single King Bells, and crowd-pleaser Nero.

We knew we were in for a good night when some guy spewed in the urinal next to Matt……(nice)…..then later lost a few groupie members while they partook in a spot of Rat spotting in the alleyway (also nice).
Wetherby played host to the up for it travelling possy as they showed the sleepy Yorkshire town how to party Cumbrian styleee, and party we did.
It never was going to be a quiet night. Although admittedly a big one had been pre-planned, we knew it for sure when Ross emerged from the van with a 24 pack of beer and encouraged us to "take it for the taxi journey". He was latter spotted performing a strip tease to The Littlest Hobo whilst supping that popular rock star drink of Malibu.

King of Squares DJ Dom kept the party rocking as he made the most of a good broadband connection, Napster, and some small yet powerful travel speakers. Hero of the night award goes to him for helping to avoid a police raid with his call of "can anyone else see the flashing lights outside?"……The nice policelady was obviously a fan (somebody get that lady a T-shirt – or maybe Brett can make her one??) as we got away with shutting the windows rather than an outright ban on the Napster sesh. "Sssshhhh" says she…… "ok" says we.
Highlight of the night had to be Dan and Ross showing great skills in cigarette catching. No description needed just watch the vid……pure class.

They celebrated with a dance and a comedy assault on Dan by the obviously excited Ross……….

Dan got over it by finding pleasure in a pack of laughing cow. Physical abuse seemed to be a theme of the night, with Hayley handing out slaps for those who requested them and Dom slam-dunking a by now near naked Ross.

Hayley herself later suffered an injury herself in the form of a flying loaf of Warburtons kindly thrown at her head by Dan.
Pete wins a prize for single handedly supping the bottle of day-glo-pink alcopop crap that had been gathering dust since being won in a raffle 6 months back. He'd earlier been playing catch up by downing a bottle of wine and by the end of the night had succeeded in doing so. His and Matt's fish eating plans never came to fruition…..the fact that the larger and therefore easier to catch ones had sadly passed away the week before perhaps being the main reason. Better luck next time boyos, better luck next time.
At 5am whilst Kie, Matt and Timbo cuddled up and caught 40 winks on the sofa, the hardcore massive ventured out to the 24hour garage to collect supplies. After promising we would behave if the guy let us in, Ross decided that his earlier assault on Dan wasn't quite the end of it and threw him in to the magazine stand. We stumbled out looking sheepish with cigarettes, rolling paper, chocolate mousse and the obligatory Ginsters sausage roll.
Brett's futile attempts at sleeping were foiled by a mischievous Dan and Ross probing him with a deoderant can and covering him in talc…."I have to be at Silverstone at 10am" said he. "Yeah like that's happening" said we. At 5.30am he realised he probably wouldn't be going and slept on the kitchen floor.

The boys finally made their way back down the A1 to the travellodge at 6am, the taxi driver passing comment en-route that Ross "couldn't have had his weetabix yet"…….
Jess was on hand to help the groupies the next day with hangover cures in the form of half a pig's worth of bacon, a good few gallons of tea and 2 packs of paracetamol, whilst Jackson senior collected the beer cans and wiped the Martinis (ohhh the memories of a wasted youth) -style sticky floor.
General consensus of opinion was that a good night was had by all. Same again next time? Lets hope so people, lets hope so.
