These are places where you would receive education,

well what about education about ghosts? These places are claimed

To be haunted...

Fairfield University Hauntings:

Apparently Lorraine Warren visited the university, and talked with students about there ghostly encounters. I myself have had a few, when my friend attended school there.  Lorraine Warren was  "drawn to" Dolan Hall, a dorm that used to be a nun-convent in the early 1900s. Lorraine believe that it is haunted by the ghost of a nun who used to live in the convent.  the administration offices of Fairfield University, is rather tight lipped when it comes to the hauntings.  They don't like to permote or talk about it. The funny thing is that students are very interested in the stories, and the tales.

Some Brief History:

Fairfield was established in 1942. 1950 First graduate classes in education were held on a coeducation basis. 1970 Women were admitted to all undergraduate programs.

A recent drunk driving accident claimed the life of one-on Wednesday April 23, 2003."The accident"  involved two vehicles. The driver who caused the accident was operating under the influence of alcohol. A passenger in one of the vehicles was 'killed' in the accident and several others injured.

Most haunted parts of Fairfield University-

1. Dolan Hall- Students have heard what sounds like furnature being moved around. Apparently, there is a story of a nun who died there. Because of the sensitive nature, the story is unclear, but a priest may have been involoved. Weather the nun- became preganant by this priest, and commited suicide? I am uncertain. That is the story however. Certian rooms, in the dorms have the most activity, but for the privacy purposes I will not say which ones.

2. PepsiCo Theater- Is rummored to be haunted, by a woman who used to be a costume designer. Students have heard voices, and noises in the theater when no one else was there. The lights for the stage have been known to go out by themselves, cold spots have been felt.
________________________________________________________________________________

ALBERTUS MAGNUS COLLEGE- The catholic college was established in 1924. It was founded by the Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs, Albertus Magnus College educates men and women to become leaders in all walks of life. The College is committed to providing a liberal arts education rooted in the Dominican tradition of scholarship

Almost every dorm, or building is said to be haunted at this old school. Apparently the school is made up of mansions that were converted into dorms, and classrooms.

McAuliffee Hall- Said to be haunted by a woman in a green dress, and a small boy that looks to be about 8-10yrs old. The boy they say was accidently locked in an attic and he died. It seems he is a playful spirit and is looking for a fellow playmate. It is uncertain if the apparition of the woman in green is his mother. People have been shoved/pushed while on the front staircase. People have heard singing at 10PM every night, then it would stop for a while and start up again every night.

ROSARY HALL- Students and facuilty have repored what they feel is an evil presence. Some times it is freezing in certian spots, and there have been loud bangs. Peoples names have been called outloud, and then no one is there. There is also a very old antique elevator that is out of service, some have heard voices, humming and or other sounds coming from the shaft.

Dominican Hall- This is in just about the center of the campus. It is claimed to be a former mental institution run by doctors from yale (I have found no proof of this as of yet, so bear in mind this is the "tale" ) It is said that the ghost of the little boy resides alot in Dominican Hall. Seen and Heard: knocking on the walls, objects have been moved around, banging, doors slamming, lights going on and off, windows being open and shut, feelings of saddness, and the feeling of being watched.

________________________________________________________________________________

Bridgeport- Warren Harding School. Built in 1924, the doors opened in 1925. The complex was named after Ralph Hedges, the first principal of Warren Harding H. S.

SEEN AND HEARD: Some have seen the ghost of an older man running up and down the halls screaming (un-soundly) The story goes, that a student killed one of the janitors, after he murdered the janitor he disappeared and was never seen again. Some say they both haunt the school, sometimes it is said that you can hear a mans voice in different parts of the school, pleading for his life.
_______________________________________________________________

Danbury Western Connecticut State University- Founded in 1903, First named the Danbury Normal School, in the 1950s it was called the Danbury State Teachers College. It was renamed as Danbury State College in 1959. then Western Connecticut State College in 1967, and finally, in 1983, Western Connecticut State University.

SEEN AND HEARD:

1. Berkshire theater- Claimed haunted, by a ghost that they call Daphne. Students have seen her image in the projection booth, and on the stage itself. She is said to be a friendly spirit, that will appear to no more than 2 people at a time.

2. Fairfield Hall- The 3rd floor is said to be haunted by a girl who commited suicide in the tower. She has been seen thru windows, and in mirrors, she is said to turn on the showers, and water, lights, t.v's on and off.  Screams have been heard numerous times, and she apparently is photogenic, cuz she has showed up in pictures.

Moses Y. Beach elementry school- WALLINGFORD

SEEN AND HEARD-FAMOUS- There is an old picture you can see on CreepyConnecticut, of a ghost on the roof top of the school. People who live around the school claim they have seen lights on in the school late at night and heard music coming from inside when no one is there. It is rummored that police have gone to check it out and they too heard the music. But when they actually went in the school the music  stopped. Rumor has it that at a school dance there was a storm in 1878,  destroyed part of the roof, and it fell on a young lady. Other story that has more boundry says that a child fell from the roof. (which is really wierd considering the picture i mentioned earlier) Lights have been turned on and off as well as computers, water being turned on an off, drawers opening and closing.

Currently I am working on finding some history about this school.

CT’s Historic Hauntings
Current mood: curious

Historical places in Connecticut with claimed hauntings. These places have been around for centuries. They are beauitful, magical, and have an essence of time and space. Some say they are quiet haunted, by the spirits that once resided there, spirits that are locked into the past some by grisly death, some by choice...

Gillette Castle- William Gillette was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1853, the son of former U.S. Senator Francis Gillette. Gillette's wife Elizabeth Daggett Hooker Gillette, was a descendent of Thomas Hooker, who the founder of Hartford. After his semi-retirement in 1910, Gillette was welcomed by theatergoers countless times during his four revival tours. His last performance was at the Bushnell in Hartford in 1936, the year before his death. He was a director, actor, and playwright, William Gillette was best be known for his stage roll as (Sherlock Homles)

HIS CASTLE: The castle over looks the beautiful connecticut river and is in the town of East Haddam. William Gillette completed the castle in 1919, it is approximatly 3 stories tall. The castle was purchased in 1944 by the state and since then, it has been maintained as a state park. Gillette Castle is open daily for tours. The rooms open to the public include nine bedrooms, seven baths, a kitchen and pantry, a third-floor suite, a library, and a study. When it was first construction it is said to have cost 1 million dollars (14 million today). The castle is said to have many secret passage ways and secret rooms. The woodwork within the castle is made from southern white oak. Of the forty-seven doors within the structure, there are no two exactly the same. And each door has a handsome external latch intricately carved of wood. The castle had hundreds of mirrors from room to room that acted as a type of security surveillance. The Castle's amazing furnishings are all indications of Mr. Gillette's inspirations. The built-in couches, a movable table on tracks, and light switches of carved wood all point to how creative he was. Mr. William Gillette also construction a railroad with a real working train, to give visitor's train rides. The castle is open for tours from 10am-4pm From Memorial Day Weekend all the way through Columbus Day.

Seen and Heard: A ghostly figure has been seen moving about the castle, by campers and hikers especially in the winter when the castle is closed. Moving cold spots have been felt by visitors, and shadows have been seen from the corner of ones eye.

HEARTH-STONE CASTLE- The Hearthstone Castle  in Danbury, was built between 1897-99 by E. Starr Sanford, who invented an early movie camera. The castle was intended to be a honeymoon "cottage'' for Sanford's wife. The property was sold in 1922 to C.D. Parks, a former indentured servant turned millionaire, whose family eventually sold it to the city in the 1980s. Now the castle is in very poor shape, it is crumbling, surrounded by a fence, and the windows are all bored up.

Seen and Heard- Many have reported seeing shadowy figures, glowing moving orbs and mists in the castle's windows or on the roof - as well as the surrounding land of the castle. Some hikers have reported being pushed & sticks thrown at them.

Old Newgate Prison- In East Granby, CT The prison that once began as a copper mine in the early 1700's, was turned into a prison in 1773. It's first prisoner was a man convicted for theft his name was John Histon. In later years it was used to imprison enemy revolutionary war soliders such as The Tories and The Loyalists. Beyond anything it is reconized as the first state prison in America.

Seen and Heard-  Is said to be haunted by the spirits of the old mine workers before the prison was built. Also haunted by the spirits of the prisoners. Orbs have been photographed here in the old mines. There is an unmistakable saddness that can be felt. Moving cold spots, and distant groands can be seen and heard.

Nathan Hale Homestead- "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country." On October 1, 1985, by an act of the General Assembly and the efforts of the Nathan Hale Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Nathan Hale officially became Connecticut's State Hero. Born in Coventry, and educated at Yale University, Hale served as a school master until he was commissioned as a captain in the Continental Army in 1775. In September of 1776, at the request of General George Washington for a volunteer, Hale crossed enemy lines to gather information as to the strength and plans of the British Army. Caught while returning, he was hanged as a spy on September 22, 1776, without the benefit of a trial. The homestead, in Coventry is run as a museum, and is said to be haunted by the Hale family.

Seen and Heard- The ghost of Deacon Hale (Nathan's father) was seen looking out of a window. When approaching the window, the specter was seen to glide to the far end of the room and disappear. A former servant Lydia Carpenter has been sighted sweeping the upper hallways and in the kitchen in the early morning hours.
Nathan's brother Lieutenant Joseph Hale is thought to make clanking noises in the basement. Other family members and caretakers have been nominated candidates as ghosts in this historical home.

Daniel Benton Homestead- Tolland, CT holds a home with a good dose of 300 years of history. Built in 1720 by Daniel Benton in the same year that Tolland became a town. The Daniel Benton Homestead, a 1720 center-chimney home with four fireplaces, original paneling, legends of ghosts. The cellar of the home, was used to house Hessian prisoners for eighteen months during the Revolutionary War.

Jemima Barrows a servant, contracted a disease and died soon after.  Because of the fear of contagion associated with disease, they were both buried in the yard, and some believe their restless spirits still inhabit the house. *You can read the full story on www.curbstone.org

Seen and Heard- A paranormal group snapped a picture of what appears to be a ghostly figure of a solider peer out the window. There audio (EVP) revealed a voice of someone speaking in german. Visitors to the museum have felt cold spots, as well as the feeling of being watched.

YALE University-Woolsey Hall-  is the primary auditorium at Yale University. Theodore Dwight Woolsey 1801-1889 was a U.S scholar and educator, nephew of Timothy Dwight. He served as the president of Yale University between the years 1846 and 1871.The hall seats 3,000 people, and was built as part of the Yale bicentennial celebration in 1901.The ornately decorated hall is home to the Newberry Memorial Organ, one of the most renowned orchestral organs in North America. That organ, is said to be haunted...as it has played by it self on many, many occasions.

Seen and Heard- A ghostly organist is said to play music in the hall, and the spector has been heard by students and staff. A shadowy figure has been seen in the balconies, and on the stage. Also the feeling of being watched, or the feeling of not being alone, when you are in fact alone.

THE OLD STATE HOUSE- Hartford, Ct is the old state house that was built in 1796. Rumor has it that the first witch in a trial, during the witch hysteria that actually leaked into connecticut was hung there. For the first one hundred years, the town (of Hartford) as a corporation, owned all the land in the plantation and there was no need to record exact measurements. However, it is thought to have been a ten-acre field in 1640.  On this ten-acre field- which contained a jail, burying ground, stocks and a whipping post. When the cellar for the former Courant building was being excavated, human bones were found. Among notable events that happened in the state house are:  General Layfayette was made a citizen here; P.T. Barnum served in its legislature; the trials of Cinque and the Amistad opened here; and the USS Nautilus was given to Connecticut by President Carter in a ceremony here in 1981.

Amoung the hauntings the direction points to the third floor where THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL AND OTHER CURIOSITIES is located. It was created by Joseph Steward in 1796. He started out with the permission to display art, from Governor Wolcott in 1797. It wasn't til later that his facination with curious oddities, that he began collecting items and putting them on display in the museum. He charged $.25 cents as admission. His collection of strange things grew until he died in 1822. The museum contains unusual artifacts, among which are a calf with two heads, a unicorn's horn and one of George Washington's buttons. Many believe that the ghost of Joseph Steward haunts the building.

Seen and Heard- Visitors and employees of the Old State House have reported hearing ghostly echoing footsteps in the hallways when the building is otherwise vacant. Seeing shadows, feeling cold spots and the feeling of being watched.  Some speculate that this is the spirit of Joseph Steward.

Yale's Oldest Secret- Skull and Bones Club- but is it haunted?COMING SOON!

Old Union Trust Building- "Some buildings are like people, some shine and some dont" The Shinning

It's said to be the most haunted building in all of downtown New Haven, is The Wachovia building, formally the Old Union Trust building. All of the buildings 12 floors have had spirit activity through the years.

Seen and Heard: There are soooo many stories from visitors to the building, and staff it's spooky...for full listings and stories log on to http://www.geocities.com/epacel/The_Haunted_Skyscraper.html.html

Church of Eternal Light- Bristol, CT The Church of Eternal Light began as a small Sunday-school, organized in the Spring of 1884 in the North Chippins Hill district of Bristol, near the Burlington line, by Miss Hattie O. Utter, the day school teacher in the district. Miss Utter organized the school because the children of her day school were non-attendants of any Sunday school. She conducted the Sunday-school successfully until June 1885 when she left the school and Bristol to return to her home and be married. Greatly beloved by the people of the district, she died in June 1886. At her earnest request, Mr. William E. Sessions and Mr. B. S. Rideout, who was General Secretary of the YMCA in Bristol, continued the school, beginning in 1885. The first Sunday only three little girls, sisters, Mary, Sarah and Lizzie Goodsell, were present. Mr. Rideout was only able to continue for a few months, because Sunday afternoon services began in the YMCA rooms. Mr. Sessions conducted the school for four years in the schoolhouse, and then in the soon-to-be built chapel. NOW the church is a pagan spiritist church.(IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THE FULL HISTORY GO http://www.churchofeternallight.org/history.html

Seen and Heard- The Church has been on national T.V. show , a ghost hunter filmed ghost balls or spirit balls. There are also rummors of a former church goer who was struck by lightning on the front steps in the late 1800's. There have also been reports of a hooded apparition seen in the bell tower.

SEASIDE HAUNTINGS in CT

A strange mysterious place is the sea, we see the waves that taunt and pull on our emotions. Water drawing in and out, amoung other things there are many strange things that fill up the vast space of ocean. Some are of the many souls, that share the same giant watery grave? Who are the souls who dance upon the tides, and walk amoung the sea shelled sand? I am certain they are the souls of those who are waiting for another day, and a promise in the salty air....By Liz Sullivan

Charles W. Morgan Ship
Mystic, Connecticut

History: Charles W. Morgan, was a whaler in the 1840's. The ship's primary functions included, to serve as a mother ship to a fleet of small whaleboats, which are stored on the davits when not in use, to serve as a factory and a refinery ship for extracting oil from the whale blubber, and to serve as oil tankers. In her 80 years of voyages, she made about 37 trips that sometimes lasted up to 9 months.  1941 the ship was transfered to Mystic Seaport, and she's still there today. In 1977 the ship was named a national historic landmark. The ship is the last one of it's kind.

SEEN AND HEARD: A 19th century spirit "Gerald" seems to be the local haunt.  He was a seaman who worked on the ship over 100 years ago. Many people have claimed they thought they saw a full bodied appartion on board the Charles W. Morgan Ship. The spirit is seen in 19th century clothes, smoking a pipe. Some high EMF readings and  spikes have been recorded in the area...Employees of the Seaport have also heard creaks and groans while aboard the ship, alone.

The ship is actually due for a 3 million dollar restoration, as it is one of Mystic's main attractions. There are numerous articles online about the hauntings on the ship. Ironically enought Mystic hosts a special halloween haunted event called "Nautical Nighmare Tours" All thru October.

WHITEHALL MANSION, MYSTIC-Whitehall Mansion was built in 1771 by Dr. Dudley Woodbridge, a former theologian and minister of Groton, CT who later became a successful medical doctor.

Seen and Heard Guests have reported hearing children laughing and playing and seeing floating clouds. Lucy, Dr Dudley's daughter is said to be one of the "Main" ghosts in the house.

Race Rock Lighthouse- In Suffolk County N.Y, 8 miles from New London, CT There is an old creepy gothic lighthouse called Race Rock and sits on an island of jagged rocks. The lighthouse was established 1878 and was first lighted on January 1, 1879. It was built by Francis Hopkinson Smith and Captain Thomas Albertson Scott It is 68.5 feet tall, made of granite, and is located at the west end of Fishers Island in New London. Its first keeper: Neil Martin, was appointed December 16, 1878.

She is considered "one of the most dangerous obstructions to navigation on the coast". Since the 1800's, many vessels stuck the rock reef with some times deadly results. The most famous case is that of the "Atlantic a large steamer that crashed into the rocks and 45 people aboard died in 1846. Amoung the tragedy of the "Atlantic", hundreds of other shipwrecks have occured in the same spot. In 1871, even before she was built, one of the foreman's boats, named the Wallace, blew up. This caused the loss of several lives and injury to others. The place is said to be very haunted and in 1978 was turned fully automated, meaning it runs off of pre-set circuts. It is owned and operated by the U.S Coast Guard, but even they have reported strange happenings for sometime.

Seen and Heard: Most all tell tales, of the dead seamen who walk the rocks, amoung there watery salt water graves. Some have heard voices inside the lighthouse, along with phantom laughter, some have been poked by icy hands, others felt cold spots, and feelings of being watched. One reported seeing wet footprints leading across the room, and heard a shower running when there was no power, or running water. Boats have passed by, and seen shadows/figures of a man moving around inside the lighthouse. TAPS filmed an episode of ghost hunters there recently and declared the light house "haunted". One member was sitting in the attic and when he left the room, and he left his camera running, only for it to pick up the chair he was seated in move by itself. They also were able to read a moving cold spot on the stairs, the same stairs the old light-house keeper would have walked up to check the light. Also a fog was recorded on camera, with moving orbs. I for sure wouldn't wanna be out there alone, if you needed help who would hear you? Who would come? Between the jagged knife like rocks, and the vicious waters, not to mention the ghosts...it's almost unreachable
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ledge Light House- New London, CT Ledge Lighthouse is a 3 story, FRENCH SECOND EMPIRE style house/lighthouse that was built in 1909. It is at the mouth of the thames river, and new london harbor. It was built by the Hamilton R. Douglas Company of New London. This company also built Groton Town Hall. The 58 foot lighthouse has with stood years of hurricaines and sea storms. Solar panels were added in 1998 to provide power for the light. The lighthouse was manned by the Coast Guard from 1939 till 1987 when the lighthouse was automated. Though the light house runs off of pre-set circuts, some believe the ghost of an old lighthouse keeper "ERNIE" still runs the pace. Many years have gone by with paranormal occurances, from "Ernie". Ernie and his wife lived in the lighthouse and manned it for sometime. Ernies wife was miserable at the place, and had little to no joy in life there. The first chance she got, she ran away with a ferry boat captain. Ernie was so upset it is said he took his own life on the top of the lighthouse and fell into the waters below.

SEEN AND HEARD: Doors have been known to open and close mysteriously, decks have swabbed themselves, televisions have turned themselves off, and the fog horn seems to turn on and off for no reason. Knocking has been heard on the doors, strange noises, figures of a man have been seen. Securely tied boats have mysteriously been set adrift. Recently TAPS investigated there, and while some anomolies occured they just didn't have enough evidience to support the haunting. Maybe it's just that Ernie is camera shy. The place is now owned by project oceanology, and many plans are in talks about the future of Ledge Light.

--LIGHTHOUSE PARK- NEW HAVEN/EAST HAVEN LINE- Well every year around christmas time we enjoy the festive "Fantasy of Lights" from the park where the old lighthouse still stands. The park is serves a good purpose every year donating the proceeds of the collected fee per car load, to see the beautiful lights... but is it haunted?

SEEN AND HEARD: Some say at Lighthouse Park around midnight you can hear the carousel music and little kids giggling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Charles Island- Milford, CT...They say it's haunted because nothing has ever prospered there. The 14 Acre island is now a bird sanctuary, you used to be able to go out there, by walking on the mysterious sand bar that would surface at low tide. Ghosts, pirates, buried treasure are all tales. It was a point of conflict between the English settlers and the Wepaowag Indians, who regarded the island as sacred ground, connected with spirits. Following the defeat of the tribesmen, the Chief put a curse on the island, pronouncing "Any shelter will crumble to the Earth, and he shall be cursed" About 25 years after the defeat of the Wepauwags, the notorious pirate Captain Kidd, who knew the islands reputation, is known to have buried part his treasure on the island, and treasure hunters from around the country still look for this stash today. It is told that in 1850 two men found the treasure, only to run away from the island screaming about a "screeching, flaming skeleton descending from the sky" They spent the remainder of their lives in an asylum.

At the end of the 18th century, a catholic monastery was built on the island. Apparently subsequent the hauntings forced them to abandon the monastery. The crumbling ruins can still be seen today. In the 1950s and attempt was made to open a seaside restaurant and lodge on the desolate island. A devastating and lethal fire, still to which cause remains unknown, ended whatever building projects scheduled for the Island, and no one has built upon it since. All that is left from this is a tumbling brick wall.

Seen and Heard: Today, reports from hikers abound about seeing glowing specters floating through the trees, disembodied voices, and phantom's walking through the monastic ruins.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASURE BEACH- A Fellow ghost hunter and best friend of mine frank, informed me recently of a place he visited in Bridgeport called PLEASURE BEACH . Pleasure Beach is a peninsula located off the coast of southeastern Bridgeport, Connecticut, and southwestern Stratford, Connecticut.  There is a legend I recovered, a legend about this beach. My friend described to me a creepy chilling dark place that was much like the town in 2005 movie "House of Wax".  A wooden bridge leading from Bridgeport's east end to Pleasure Beach burned down under rather strange circumstances in 1996, leaving the 46 cottage owners at Long Beach West stranded. Eventually the home owners had to pack up and leave, some leaving behind everything...But this is only the begining...

In 1892 a privately owned amusement park opened. In the year 1905 the ownership changed and name was revised to "Steeple Chase Island".  George C. Tilyou, was the well-known owner of Steeplechase Park at Coney Island N.Y.  He turned his attention to Bridgeport, CT and bought a section of Pleasure Beach in 1905 and opened it as Steeplechase Island. In 1920 a Roller coaster and ballroom were built, to add to the parks atmosphere. George Tilyou landscaped the park adding beautiful floral gardens, and installed the famous Steeplechase race course ride. After a while a bright new carousel, aerial swings, ferris wheel, and a shooting gallery were added.  The Razzle Dazzle Funhouse was one of the most popular rides along with : A skating rink, toboggan ride, penny arcade, bandstand, vaudeville theater, miniature train, a billiards room and an extensive lunch pavilion. Also a saltwater swimming pool, a theater and a ballroom that brought names in big band music, like Glenn Miller, and Frank Sinatra. Tilyou ran the park until 1910, then sold it. In 1938 the city of bridgeport took over the park. In 1951 Rides are discontinued for the most part. Then in 1953 due to bad wiring there was a terrible fire that destroyed most of the park. In 1954 a playhoue called the Polka Dot Was built on Pleasure Beach near the site of the amusement park. It ran For more than 30 years before it too burned down.

Four years later in 1957, there was another fire from a ciggerette that set the bridge ablaze. In 1961 some of the rides, including the roller coaster are sold by auction. 1964 an oil tanker crashed into one part of the bridge and yet another fire breaks out and destroys another part of the bridge. 1973 police blame vandals in the case of one more fire that burned down the remains of the ballroom.  The fire also destroyed the Polka Dot Playhouse but this was long after the amusement park fire. An estimated $20-$30 million is needed to repair the damages. The City of Stratford decided not to renew the leases for cottages on the beach and some owners refused to leave. A new bridge was proposed on Stratford side of the park, but broke the budget when it was estimated that it would cost $8-$26 million dollars.

Today, the desolate beach reaches a mile around the perimeter of the peninsula. Weed covered pavement and breezes blow through the empty crumbling structures of what once was...After the many drawn out lawsuits from the cottage owners, the state simply claims it hasn't the money for the expensive project to rebuild the bridge. Plans for a wild life preserve have been purposed recently, and are going to be presented to Governer Jodi O'Rell. There are endangered birds that are nesting through out the abandon town now, and enviromentalists are concerned.

SEEN AND HEARD: Now stories of haunted happenings along the shore of what once was have surfaced. Errie noises from the where Polka Dot Theater was, shadows and spectors have been seen around. Screams of joy and laughter have been heard, could it be ghosts riding the rides that were once spread across this space? Make up and costumes left behind in the old theater are like echos from the past. The boarded up cottages, and the different estranged buildings, remain on the deserted island. Homeless people, crack addicts and even curiosity seekers have caused a problem to the area numerous times. As of this summer 2007, Warning signs have been placed around in hopes to keep intruders out.

WARNING Pleasure Beach is patrolled by local police, and vandals have been caught there by use of a new web-cam security technology. It isn't very safe, so you can't blame the police. If you were ever in trouble NO ONE could hear you,  and it would take time to get to you. NOTE: Trespassing is an serious offense, and those who are caught will be fined and fully prosecuted.

Fort Nathan Hale- New Haven, CT. According to the website: It was first called BLACK ROCK FORT and was constructed in the spring of 1776, by order of the Connecticut Colony, on a prominent basalt ledge jutting the harbor on the east side and in range of the ship channel, thus protecting the approach to the Port of New Haven.

On July 5, 1779, superior British forces landed from war ships, attacked the fort and captured its 19 defenders. The enemy was then able to march into New Haven. At the close of the Revolution, Black Rock Fort was abandoned. When the political situation again deteriorated between Americans and British in the early 1800s, a new fortification was erected by the Federal Government, complete with masonry walls, six guns, magazine and barracks for fifty men. It was named Fort Nathan Hale for one Connecticut's most illustrious patriots. During the war of 1812, Fort Hale's cannons successfully defied a number of British raiders threatening New Haven. In 1863 a new Fort Hale was built to thwart Southern raiders. Adjacent to the old fort ruins.

Seen and Heard- Along the beach where the battle took place, there are under ground bunkers. They are blocked off with gates, but inside the bunkers there have been sightings of glowing green orbs. Along the beach and the outside of the bunkers ghostly figures of soldiers have also been seen. Also the cannon is said to be haunted, as phantom cannon blasts have also been heard.

PENFIELD REEF LIGHTHOUSE Fairfield, CT...Built in 1874, from granite the 2 story lighthouse was built. The reef where the lighthouse sits, is one of the most dangerous areas of Long Island Sound. It can be seen distantly from the shore of Fairfield and Bridgeport, but is best seen by boat. The light house became autmated in 1971.

THE STORY Seems a keeper Frederick A. Jordan crashed in his boat, while on his way back to the main land to spend christmas with his family.  The keeper's body was soon recovered. Assistant keepr Iten was absolved of any blame for the keeper's death and in fact became the next keeper at Penfield Reef.
After his death, the assistant keeper Rudolph Iten began seeing the ghost.

For decades after the tragedy, keepers at the lighthouse reported the light behaving strangely for no apparent reason. In 1972 it was reported that the light was "not flashing at maximum intensity and was monitored as flashing erratically." This problem was attributed to the light's flasher. Another time a Coast Guard spokesman blamed "atmospheric conditions" for problems with the light.

Seen and Heard: On another occasion two boys who were fishing near the lighthouse were in danger of drowning after their boat capsized. A man seemingly appeared from nowhere and pulled the boys to safety on the rocks by the lighthouse. As the boys came to they entered the building expecting to find the keeper who had saved them, but there was nobody in sight. To this day mariners off the Connecticut coast claim that, in stormy weather, the spectre of a lighthouse keeper is seen on the lantern room gallery or floating above the reef itself. One owner of a power yacht reported that in rough weather his boat was guided to safety by a mysterious figure in a rowboat who vanished once the yacht reached safety.

Haunted Resturants, Inns and Taverns

Haunted Inns, Taverns and Resturants

Hospitality comes from some of Connecticuts finest resturants and taverns. The old, the historic and then haunted? You may decide to have dinner, or spend the night in one of these beautiful bed and breakfasts', but be prepared...because you may be eating, or sleeping next to a spirit from the historic past.

Yankee Pedlar Inn- In the town of TORRINGTON-The Yankee Pedlar inn was originally owned and built by Alice and Frank Conley. It opened in 1891, and was to the highest standards of the wealthiest of people. Mr and Mrs Conley died in 1910 and ran the inn til that time. Even today the 60 room tavern/inn has crackling fireplaces, hitchcock furniture, and atmosphere rich in history. You'll feel like you've stepped back into time, 100 years ago.

Seen and Heard- Many of the employees have seen black mists, and shadows that walk around many area's of the inn. Furnature has moved by itself, especially one particular rocking chair. Knockings on the walls and doors at different times durning the days and nights. The room where Mr. Colney died seems to be quite haunted, guests have reported the feeling of someone sitting on the bed. Staff have also seen the white figure of a woman floating around, and also a man. Could it be the restless souls of The Conley's still assisting in running the Yankee Pedlar Inn?

Blacksmith's Tavern- Glastonbury CT, At  Blacksmith's Tavern, odd things happen after the witching hour.  I was unable to find any history about this place. The only thing I could currently find was information about the claimed hauntings.

Seen and Heard- Appearing most often when few people are left in the building, is the ghost of a young man with dark hair wearing a rough fabric shirt and dark colored knickers.  A historian researched the building and found that the builder of the house was Benjamin Taylor and one of his children was William.  William married and had a 6 year old daughter.  He died of consumption in his twenties while his wife was pregnant.  People say he seems more lonely and worried than scary.  Some of his doings include lights going on by themselves, locked and checked doors are found wide open, and stored frozen pastries have been discovered strewn all over the basement floor.

Carousel Gardens by Candlelight- In Seymour there is a very beautiful resturant with excellent food called Carousel Gardens. The atmospere is not only relaxing, but you can sense the haunting as well. (information from http://www.carouselgardens.com/history.html) William Henry Harrison Wooster was born in Waterbury (Prospect), Connecticut on July 4, 1840. Mr. Wooster married the late Anna L. Putnam of Springfield, Massachusetts on August 31, 1861. They resided in Seymour, Connecticut and were worthy of six children, having five daughters, Anna Thompson, Clara Lee, Louise, Mabel and Helena Ruth, and one son, Horace. .

Mr. Wooster was in the good phrase of his day, a "Captain of Industry", an exemplar of the simple virtues of hard work, enterprise, integrity and foresight. He belonged to that fine group of Connecticut industrial leaders. They have contributed so importantly to the prosperity and reputation of the state in the field of manufacturing. He moved to Seymour in 1878 and over the next quarter century he was responsible for founding and organizing The Seymour Manufacturing Company, The Seymour Trust and The Seymour Water Company until his death. The death of William Henry Harrison Wooster on December 17, 1919, the age of 79, was mourned as the passing of the first citizen of Seymour and an outstanding figure in Connecticut industrial circles. Anna L. Putnam Wooster was laid to rest on March 2, 1927 at the age of 86.

Seen and Heard: The ghost of The Woosters are said to be still floating around the old mansion turned resturant. Especially that of Helena Ruth or "Ruth". The ghosts are welcome, and the owners play part to the hauntings. Glasses have smashed and shattered by unseen hands, also visitors have been poked and touched. A waitress proceeded into the kitchen to ask a Chef a simple question. He answered her in a hostile tone of voice. With no movement in the kitchen anywhere, suddenly all of the spoons and ladles that were hanging above his head fell on him. She thanked Ruth and fled the kitchen. Diner music has changed in mid song to heavy metal, Doors open and close by them selves. Apparently there is also a ghost cat, that has been seen and when those go looking for it it is then not found.

Personal Experience: I went to eat there for my birthday last year. I did experience something paranormal. We took a tour of the place, and I could feel something very cold surrounding me and following me. I'd feel it for a few minutes then it would go away, and return a few mintues later. While in one of the upstairs rooms, all the windows began to rattle all at once, for about 20 seconds. Perhaps Ruth was trying to communicate with me?

The Redbrook Inn- The inn is on the national register of historic places in CT, and is also listed on almost every haunted information website. Built in 1740 and then a second building, built in 1785 the buildings are surrounded by 7 acres of private woods. There are 10 guest rooms, which contain antique furnature, wood burning fireplaces, and canopy beds.

Seen and Heard: Guest staying at the inn have reported seeing (within there rooms) an older woman with white hair, with a shawl wrapped around her. The ghost of this woman, appears to be a friendly, gentle guardian type spirit. On a few occasions guests who were staying at the inn, left there wood stoves burning, while they fell asleep some claim that they were woken by the woman in the shawl. Also reported at the inn are disembodied voices, whispering, and moving cold spots.

Captain Grants Inn- The place was originally built by Captain William Gonzales Grant in 1754 for his wife Mercy Adelaide Avery. Grant died at sea, while Mercy lived into her 80's and the home continued to house three generations of the Grant Family. The Inn is on the national list of historical places, and was recently rennovated. The Avery House is also on the property, and is a seperate smaller house built in 1790. It is the home where the Holly and Margaret Rooms are located. Both of these rooms feature wood burning fireplaces.

Seen and Heard- Visitors to the Inn are told when they arrive that if they hear a loud knock at the door, they can answer if they like... but nobody will be there! Those who stay in the Adelaide Room might encounter the ghosts of a mysterious woman and her two children--the former residents sometimes turn the TV on and off or knock down the shower curtain.

The Lighthouse Inn- The Resort was built in 1902 as the grand summer home of steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie. Originally called Meadow Court for the Wildflowers surrounding it, the home commanded a breathtaking view of Long Island Sound. The mansion was designed by noted architect William Emerson of Boston while the formal grounds were conceived by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed Central Park. Meadow Court became a popular destination for social events and a private retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Meadow Court began operating as an Inn in 1927, and was renamed for the nearby New London Harbor Light. The Lighthouse Inn Resort is a member of the Prestigious Historic Hotels of America. "There are few homes in America more attractively situated than the property of Mrs. Charles S. Guthrie, in New London, CT. This is the embodiment of the ideas of what a house should be." - American Homes and Gardens, September 1912.

In 1930 a bride who was staying at the Inn, had her wedding planned there. She was rehearsing walking down the grand staircase when she tripped and fell and broke her neck. Her spirit is said to have been haunting the Inn ever since that tragic day.

Seen and Heard- Guests as well as staff, have reported seeing a bride in the library, and walking the halls. In the cellar of the Inn strange things have happened such as the wine bottles opening by themselves. Doors opening and closing by them selves, lights flickering etc. Taps Investigated there and claimed the place NOT HAUNTED, but however there were some curious things such as EMF Spikes, Cold spots, and one member claims he was "touched" on the back while investigating the basement.  Maybe the bride is just shy?!?!?!

5. The John York House COMING SOON

Pettibone Tavern- The tavern was built in 1780 as a stagecoach stop between Boston and Albany and had its share of visitors from the American history books; it's thought that John Adams and George Washington would have both stopped there at one time or another.

THE STORY More interesting is that of the ghost of Abigail Pettibone, who was murdered there by her husband when he found her having an affair. John Pettibone was husband to Abigail, he was a whaler/fisherman who returned early from a trip to find his Abigail in bed with another man. He quickly in a rage beheaded both of them. If that wasn't enough, John went around the house fetching pictures of his cheating wife and cut her head from all the pictures as well.

Seen and Heard- Not only do people say Abigail haunts the tavern, and perhaps her lover, but also the spirit of a small  boy has been seen as well. The boy is unknown, no one is quite sure of who he is, and how he got there. Multiple employees can attest to being called by name in a familiar voice but turn around to realize that there is no one there. Several closing managers have told stories of someone or something playing with the lights and music, or of leaving the dark building only to realize as they pull out of the parking lot that all the lights are back on. One of the most haunted spots is that of the ladies bathroom upstairs (Abigails old bedroom, and the site of the murder) This is also where the small boy has been seen. A female customer saw the reflection of an eighteenth century tavern wench in the mirror of the ladies room instead of her own. No one can explain this. One opening manager arrived to find one of the nearly indestructible oak Hitchcock chairs smashed to hundreds of pieces in the middle of the dining room -- a difficult task any living person could do...But ask anyone in Simsbury, CT...they can tell you all about the resident ghost Abigail.

Randall's Oridinary Landmark Inn- In 1680 John Randall purchased property in Stonington and John Randall II built the existing dwelling on this same tract of land. For more than two hundred years this farm was occupied by a Randall - John Randall III and IV, William and Darius Randall. Among the first to free their slaves, the Randalls became ardent abolitionists before and during the Civil War. The inn lies on 250 acres of property, and is about 6 miles either from Foxwoods, or Mohegan Sun Casino. Today the inn in North Stonington...is set so guests can feel as close to colonial times as possible. Dishes are served from the 18th, and 19th century, workers even dress in period clothing. Not to mention that the meals cooked, are done so in the old fashion way, in the fire place or hearth.

Seen and Heard- Some speculate that the ghost of John Randall still reside at the inn, and that he sticks around to make sure things are running smooth. Moving cold spots, orbs, foot steps have been heard around.

Homespun Farm B&B-The farm located in Griswald, CT was purchased in 1740 by Simon Brewster. He was a great-great grandson of William Brewster, who arrived in the New World in 1620 on the Mayflower. For over two hundred years the Brewster family ran this historic property as a dairy and orchard business. From the hand crafted beds to the hand hewn beams, Homespun Farm Bed and Breakfast warms you with the spirit of hard working men and women.

SEEN AND HEARD-The owners believe that the presence of old man Simon is a watchful spirit. A guiding spirit, they called him. He is the original owner of the 260-year-old home. Mrs. Brewster his wife is also there, she too is a protective spirit. Simon watches over the outside, and Mrs. Brewster watches over the inside of the house. She is heard walking up and down the stairs at night.

Strange and Unusual Connecticut

STRANGE AND UNUSUAL Connecticut

CARRINGTON MEMORIAL CEMETERY: BETHANY CT GRAVE INSCRIPTION "I CAME BACK"

1/26/07- CARRINGTON CEMETERY: A fellow ghost hunter and friend of mine told me about a small grave yard in Bethany. It's small, and seperated by two sections, one part looks older the other newer. Anyways my friend told me about a strange grave that has an inscription that says "I came back" on the back hand side. I thought this would be worth checking out. (you can see the pictures, me and my friend took under my pics in my profile) So we drove up to this small cemetery, and drove in. The grave is on the Left hand side, it's small and it had a christmas wreath laying upon it. Also there are two names on the small head stone which is most likely of a husband and wife. On the very back side of the grave in a small words it plainly says "I came back." We do not know the origin of this yet.

MELONHEADS IN CT?- Your probably asking yourself what the hell is a Melonhead right? Well I asked myself the same question... Here is the story surrounding this very urban legend... If  secret civilizations really exsist, why not in new england? With plenty of swampy areas, mountains, and deep forests to hide out in, melonheads, bigfoots, and other creatures would have the perfect habitats. Perfect for any kind of beings that want not to be seen. I read the story about Melonheads in this book called "WEIRD U.S" it gives detail onto what these strange humans would look like. Also accounts from witnesses who have encountered the beings. Here is the story, with a few variations.

Melonheads originated in Ohio, where they were thought to be interbreed humans exposed to radiation. The story traveled here to connecticut in as early as the 1800's according to the legend. Apparently, "they" first resided in fairfield county, but they branched out since then. There was a story about an insane asylum that was built on the outskirts of a deep wooded area in fairfield county. The asylum apparently had a ward for sick children with brain disorders such as encheplitis, a condition that causes spinal fluid to collect on the brain, and make the head swell. If the fluid is not removed, a high fever is common and the brain basically drowns in spinal fluids, and well you meet an unpleasent demise. According to myth, there was a doctor who experimented of course (This is so common in these legends) and some of the children did not survive his cruel experiments. Some of the children and adolesents escaped to the deep woods, and survived on bugs, roadkill, frogs...and the occasional human...etc. (KEEP IN MIND) I don't believe the story so much, because alot doesn't add up, I'm simply telling the tale) So, thus came forth this tale of melonheads. The Melonheads would be the "children/adolescents" of the escapee's. Some how they bred and made more and more til they had there own civilation. They are said to look frail, thin and pale with long snake like arms and fingernails. There eyes are large and veiny, there heads at least 3x the size of there bodies. There teeth are small and square with spaces inbetween. Melonheads dont talk they grunt, and mumble to each other and somehow understand each other.

Another version of the story says the children were victims of radiation treatments(just like the ohio original) and that it was the radiation that caused there heads to swell. People have claimed to see these beings on Velvet Road in Monroe/Trumbull aka "DRACULA DRIVE". Velvet Road is a desolate road that runs along side deep forest. Strange things happen on that road at night, I have been there (I can vouch for that). People claim they have seen them out there stirring around, protecting there habitat, and are responsible for disappearances, and cannibilism. Also accounts on DOWNS ROAD, people say they lerk in then end part thats closed off on the road, maybe they are friends with "The Downs Rd Monster". Whatever you believe, if there are Melonheads I dont personally know where they are. They could be going through your garbage at night, or hiding out in the deep dark forests of CT. Until someone actually photographs one, or hands me solid proof i'm gonna have to put this one up on the shelf with the BIGFOOT, SKUNK APE and MOTHMAN legends.

THE FACELESS PEOPLE- In the sleepy town of Monroe, CT there is said to be an old farm house that is home to, well...Faceless People. Where-ever they came from no one knows, all that the stories say is that they are protected by a caretaker, and they are extremely shy of being seen. Those who have claimed to see them, say they are very grotesque looking. They are missing ears, noses, eyes, and the surface of there faces are wrinkly and long. Could they be aliens? Could they be another breed of melonheads? Or are they too victims of mass experimentation done here in the old asylums in our early days, that now are abandon? No one knows, but those who have gotton a glimpse Im sure will never forget the looks of "The Faceless People".

FROG PEOPLE of DANBURY, CT another local legend, that there is a civilation of FROG PEOPLE? Damn this state and it's urban legends! Well, you heard right, in the Danbury/Hartford area's CT residents have claimed to see strange looking individuals. Big round eyes, wide mouths and tall lanky looking men and women. Only 2 have been reported to have been seen. Weird U.S the book I mentioned before talks about the Frog People. It explains that a witness working at a local food store claimed to have seen a strange man. The man was covered head to toe, so you couldnt see the face. But the male leaned forward while grabbing some food and was exposed and what the witness saw, was a person who resembled a FROG!?! At least thats what the book says. I'll leave this one to the WORLD WEEKLY NEWS, and ENQUIRER. I can't vouch for the truth behind these stories because they seem just to far fetched, they are however interesting and it does make you wonder, at least for a minute.

The Moodus Noises: The town of MOODUS, CT was named Moodus (meaning place of bad noises), from indian tribes who settled there long before European settlers even set foot there in 1670. Tribes of Mohegans, Narragansetts and Pequots heard noises and sounds coming from MOUNT TOM where the settled. They thought the dreadful noises were from devils and demons one in particular named HObomoko, because the subground would rumble and make growling noises. The indians would call upon there medicine men to try and interpret the noises,  and pray to there gods but no one could explain the noises. The indians were for sure that the noises were evil. When the settlers came the indian tribes warned them but the settlers they blamed the noises on Satan himself. After the idea of satan to blame fizzed out, the colonial-era idea of witches in  moodus and haddam were causing the noises.

With the use of modern sophisticated equiptment scientists attribute the noises to mini-earthquakes, another theroy is that the noises are an affect of wind echoing through the caves near mount tom (even thought no evidence has been proven) Underground electromagnetic currents  and even mini explosions of mineral were also said to be to blame but ruled out as not the source. Finially in 1979 it was proved that the noises are because of tiny earthquakes that don't even measure on the richter scale. Moodus is a place for some reason that sound passes freely between the ground and air. Surely if the native american tribes were around today, they would probably be most pleased to know that there inclinations were wrong and that devils, and beasts were NOT occupying the underground area of MOODUS....

Gardner LAKE: In Salem, CT People have reported hearing the sounds of a piano being played from the lake. Thats because there actually is a piano and a house at the bottom of the lake! In the late 1900's a rich man lived on the moodus lake, and wanted to relocated, but didn't wanna sell or leave his house. He waited until winter and the lake froze over and actually had movers move the house in whole across the lake. Unfortunatly the ice broke and the house fell to the bottom of the lake. Apparently no deaths occured. The house, and the grand piano that belonged to the man are still at the bottom of the lake to this day.

Hamden Plaza presents "Ghost Cars": In the front of hamden plaza there used to be a strange sight. That sight was none other thant he car grave yard. Too bad they were removed in 2002. What was meant to be an artistic project in 1978, was actually anything but. The actual project was to take old cars that had been wrecked in drunk driving accidents, and caused deaths and cover them w/tar. It would serve as a reminder to america that drunk driving kills. The selected cars were taken to the plaza, permantly parked and paved over with aspalt. Urban legends quickly surfaced at the shear sight of these creepy cars. Hamden residents and (My dad) would tell you that the owners of those cars were under there too...locked inside there smashed up, deadly, drunk driving mistake. They were a bizaar and eerie, I remember seeing kids skate boarding over these cars, kids who didn't even know the stories I thought. Stories aside, there were no actual people buried inside those cars, it was just a legend. As I am thinking back to the time before they were plowed away, Oh what a legend those ghost cars were. (*See under my pics*)

The Litchfield County Big Foot: Yes thats right I said BIG FOOT...There have been reports of Big foot sightings all over the world, why not right here in the constitution state? Giant hairy creatures, that smell foul, and leave behind rumbling monsterous foot prints on the earth. Described as gorilia like, they can be either dark brown, black, white or tan. The are usually 8-12 feet tall, and weight around 400lbs. The deep forest is there ideal locations, accept no one knows what a big foot really is...Some will argue that these creatures are gentle giants, others say NO. But in Litchfield county there have been at least a dozen reports  from folks ranging from as early as 1898 in naugatuck connecticut to this day. The have also been called "WILD MEN"  "YETI" or "Sasquatch" but we think Bigfoot seems to hit home. Sightings in connecticut range from : Windham, Ellington, Trumbull, Hartford, Naugatuck, Bristol, Thompson, Plainville, Fairfield, Tolland, Woodstock amoung a few area's. Rumor has it that these creatures are somewhat territorial, and can run up to 40mph. People have reported simply seeing the creature, being chased by it, and even "hunted" by it in the woods? In 2004 two men discovered two 15 1/2 inch long footprints on a path near there home. Now thats strange and unusual...Just as we may want more information about them you never know...you may look out your window someday and spot one of these creatures trying to get a closer look at you.

The Black Dog of Meriden/Hanging Hills or West Peak- The tell tale Black Dog of meriden is said to be haunting the Hubbard Park sections of meriden, other wise known as "West Peak, or Hanging Hills" The dog has been haunting this area since the late 1800's and is said to have caused at least 6 deaths. Why you ask? How? With elevations within twenty-five miles of the Atlantic coast south of Maine, the ancient lava flows known as the Hanging Hills rise steep and dark behind the city of Meriden. Legend has it that if you see the phantom dog "ONCE shall be for joy, Twice shall be for sorrow and The third time You shall die..."

A black dog is a spectral being found primarily in British folklore. The black dog is essentially a nocturnal spectre, and its appearance was regarded as a portent of death. It is generally supposed to be larger than a physical dog, and often has large, glowing eyes. Our black dog of meriden is said to be a small friendly but sad looking dog, that barks with no sound and walks and makes no foot prints. He is said to enjoy human company, and would follow you where ever you go and then disappear just as suddenly as he appeared. W. H. C. Pynchon and published in the April-June, 1898 issue of Connecticut Quarterly. A geologist from New York who had come to the mountains around Meriden to examine the unusually accessible rock formations, Pynchon did more than anyone else to confirm and perpetuate the legend of The Black Dog of West Peak, which was apparently already a part of tradition long before his arrival on the scene. His account is well-remembered, even today.

Haunted Cemeteries of CT
Current mood: nervous

Haunted Cemeteries are a common haunting ground for ghosts. Connecticut is amoung one of the most haunted states in the united states as we are part of the original 13 colonies, and so are many of it's graveyards. Here In the Consititution state the women rule...One is of a "White Lady" who has been haunting one old cemetery for 60 yrs. The other is a "Green Lady" who met her demise in a swamp, Along with the wicked witch of Monroe, and a very famous Midnight Mary of New Haven. There bodies may or may not be burried, but burried not in "spirit".  You can see under my pic's for some pictures of graves, and these places.

 Evergreen Cemetery:

THE STORY: New Haven, CT. The haunting of "MIDNIGHT MARY" New Haven's most famous ghost, of Mary E. Hart. Some say she was a wicked witch, some say she was murdered by her husband, other's say her forelorn soul haunts the cemetery where she is buried. For those of you who do not know her tale of woe here goes: Mary Hart was a local New Haven woman, who lived on Winthrop Ave, in the 1800's. One day she collapsed from a deathlike "spell". Her husband believed she was dead, and called the family to arrange the burial. Mary was buried in Evergreen Cemetery without hesitation. That night, her aunt/sister (depending on who is telling the story) had a horrible nightmare that Mary had been buried alive. The nightmare was so disturbing, that her aunt/sister demanded the next morning that her casket be opened. When the care taker opened the grave, Mary was inside, but her family viewed a horrific sight. Mary was all twisted up, with a white stained look of terror upon her face. Her fingers were bloody, and there were stratches on the interior of her coffin. Mary had been buried alive!! And apparently she tried to claw her way out, it is said that she suffercated right before, or around midnight that loathsome night. After the awful incident, the family in all there embarrasment, re-buried her and errected a large pink granite headstone over her grave. No one knows to this day what the strange inscription means. In large black letters it reads: "The people shall be troubled at midnight and pass away!" Is it a witches curse? A spirtual warning from Mary? Underneith the impending "curse" the words discribe how Mary died. There have been stories of people who have dared to venture out to her grave at midnight. Stories of those being haunted by Mary, Scared to death, Impaled on the Iron gates, tales of ill fortune and accidents, and people who have disappeared without a trace. Maybe people should take Mary's warning more seriously. Somethings are better left alone.

Seen and Heard: Mary's ghost has been seen inside and outside of the cemetery on numerous occasions. One man in the area claims that he saw her standing in the cemetery and thought that it was a trespasser so he called the police. When the police went in to investigate she was gone...Ghostly images of a horse drawn carriage have appeared in the cemetery from time to time in the past, but no origin of this phantom carriage have been yet discovered. Others claim that Mary has been seen walking along the road of the cemetery hitching rides, to her old home on Winthrop Ave. Folks who have gone in the cemetery after midnight, and brave ones that have gone to Mary's grave had said to have suffered inflictions of the curse. Ex:(getting into car accidents, people being impaled on the iron gates surround the cemetery, people gone missing, or being scared to death (by the ghost of Mary) even one college student apparently fell down a flight of stairs after visiting the cemetery and broke both legs...Remember: I can't validate these stories of others I can just report them I can tell you that no murders were credited to the cemetery, no one was ever impaled on the iron gates or otherwise.

My Personal Account: Evergreen Cemetery is a beautiful peaceful well kept cemetery with many old graves and even a large section of spanish war soldiers. The credit of it's fame goes strictly to Mary. I have visited durning the day, and taken many pictures of her grave (soon to be posted), but while I was there I can't say anything ghostly happened. I will be returning once I have the OK by the proper people to conduct a night time investigation.

UNION CEMETERY: The Ghost of "The White Lady"

THE STORY: In the sleepy town of EASTON, CT there is by far the most haunted cemetery in possibly the entire united states. Listed amoung every haunted connecticut website, and researched by almost every paranormal group including THE WARRENS, the ghost of the White Lady is the most popular ghost. The Warrens wrote a book called "GRAVEYARD" dedicated to her whole exsistance. They also photographed and videoed her. She is sometimes seen in the cemetery, walking amoung the rows with a white glow surrounding her. She has dark hair, and wears a nightgown like dress, with a bonnet on her head. She is sometimes surrounded by dark figures that appear to be yelling at her, and trying to hurt her. Ed Warren believed she was the ghost of a woman, whose husband was murdered by devious thugs. He thought the White Lady was murdered by the same people who killed her husband. Bodies had been discovered beside the cemetery, by the old baptist church in a sink hole on Church Rd from many years ago. Another was murdered there and had her body dumped in the sink hole near the church by her adulterous lover.

Another more terrifing story is that of REDEYES- ( A man who committed suicide by using dynamite ), a evil spirit who peers from the brush around the gothic looking burial ground. Reports of people being chased by this evil enitity. There are stories of tragedies that have occured around the cemetery. There were two girls killed in a car accident right in front of the cemetery, and the terrible demonic possession of an 11-year-old boy. The woman who tried to stab her husband in the middle of the night for no apparent reason. All reflect the curious influence of the cemetery what is recognized as an aura of disaster certainly this cemetery has that aura, particularly when you look into its background. The graves inside of Union date back to the 1600's, due to vandalism and trespassers the cemetery is off limits from dusk til dawn. It is heavely guarded by Easton police, and there are criminal charges involved if you dare to go there.

SEEN AND HEARD: Apparitions of the white lady have appeared to dozens of people including firefighters and police. The most famous is of a firefighter who claimed to have "hit" the White Lady with his car. Redeyes the other forlorn spirit has peered his eyes out from bushes, and chased people.

MY PERSONAL ACCOUNTS: I visited the cemetery in 2001 with a friend, and a video recorder. We were at the cemetery for about 10 minutes before Easton police showed up. We were ticketed and fined for trespassing and we didn't even get out of the car! (Word of advice DO NOT GO THERE, DONT EVEN BOTHER) The 6 minutes of film we got was actually worth it though. We got a strange anomolie of  fuzz and a white streak across the graveyard, but while we were taping the camera battery died (it had a fully charged battery mind you) If only we had a little more time we may have caught more on film. Easton is a scary scary place, much like a stephen king movie...This is a closed investigation for now, because it is forbidden to go there.

Stepney Cemetery: Beardsley Plain

THE STORY:The sister cemetery to UNION, the burial ground is said to be the second home to THE WHITE LADY. She can be seen walking up PEPPER STREET that runs along the cemetery. Many pictures have been taken here, with ghostly mists appearing on the photo's. The creepiest headstone by far is one of a man named "Tingly". Accidents have occurred along side the cemetery, where people have claimed they have "Hit" a woman. When the driver gets out of there car to investigate the accident, there is no one there.

Seen and Heard: The white lady has been seen walking on the road beside the cemetery.

My Personal Accounts: I finially found it! off ex 46 on the merrit.

GUNNTOWN CEMETERY:

THE STORY In Naugatuck CT, on Gunntown Rd there lies a small old cemetery surrounded by stone walls. Gunntown is a place of many supernatural events, and ghostly sightings. Many photographs have been taken here through the years. Also investigated by the WARRENS, they dubed the land haunted, and felt some evil presence there. A connecticut paranormal group recorded the voice of a man saying: "Go, go now!!" along with a photo of an evil looking face in a mist. Another EVP recording indicated the voice of a small girl saying "We are all alone". There are many tomb stones inside that have the apparent family name "GUNN" there is at least one discovered story about old naugatuck: and it can be read on the website www.skaneateles.org.  Amoung other graves, there are numerous ones of children, some were only infants. No one truly knows the orgin of the spectors/spirits that have appeared through the years, we can only look to the past for our anwsers which have yet to be uncovered.

Seen and Heard: Reports of hearing childrens laughter, footsteps, and old ragtime music from inside the cemetery. Apparations of a man on horse back carring a lantern trotting around inside the burial ground, the ghost of a boy, numerous figures of black dogs, and other dark figures have been seen (I have seen myself @night there).  Orbs of every color can be seen by eye floating around.

My personal accounts: Gunntown is one of my favorite cemeteries. I have been there numerous times with varied results. In some photographs I have taken durning the day I had some anomolies show up on film, and  with the night time visits. While there visiting one time, I felt a very dark presence, and then some gentler presences. I distinclty heard footsteps running around the cemetery, and swear I was being watched and followed. There are numerous graves of children here, and amoung the graves there are old teddy bears, and toys (possibly left by other visitors as gifts for the ghosts?)  I will be going back to Guntown so check back frequently for updates and new pics...

The crazed stalker, with a hook for a hand seeking out teenagers and couples making out in a parked car. The legend of Great Hill Cemetery is an extensive one, with at least 3 different stories surrounding it. The first story is of a man by the name of "HOOKMAN" who was hung in the cemetery from a great big tree for a crime he did not commit in the 1800's. They say he's angry ghost haunts the cemetery, looking for the people who hung him. The second story is of a care taker of the cemetery in the early days who had a hook for a hand.
