Why does everyone want to be a Paranormal Investigator?
Pretty much on a daily basis I hear of all sorts of people both young and old going out and buying digital recorders and EMF meters. I think it's great that people are becoming interested in our field and I do hope that they can find that ghost of Aunt Sally or Uncle Johnny that is supposed to reside in the family basement?
Still, I do wonder, why is it today that every Tom, Dick and Harry now wants to be a paranormal investigator? Now if you all are like me, this surge in the paranormal strikes as being a bit odd. Several years ago as many of us remember, it was only the weirdo's and kooks that were involved in the field.
(Please note that yes I label myself as one of those kooks and weirdo's.)
Folks I'm just a bit perplexed by the whole deal. I myself do wonder if this paranormal movement so to speak is being rallied to the forefront by reality shows or movies. If it is, are we not going to have a bunch of so called investigators who are going to base all of their techniques on the lighter side of what they see on television? I do applaud the individuals on TV that are out there doing their best to support our beliefs in paranormal phenomena. If it hadn't been for a select few shows, the paranormal wouldn't be as acceptable in society as it is today.
I must also admit that yes I myself do enjoy watching the paranormal shows. These shows do bring us hours of good entertainment and in some cases a really good laugh or two. Yes I did say entertainment and laugh.
These shows are not meant as how to guides on how to hunt ghosties. They are there to promote awareness and attempt to educate the masses about the paranormal in some form or fashion.
Do you think that these shows should state that they are not trying to teach one how to hunt for or even how to attempt to prove or disprove the existence of the paranormal?
What do you think?

Maybe its not really a Ghost
The two most common questions asked of any paranormal investigator are what is a ghosts and how can you prove that they exist. The first question is easy and any true paranormal investigator can generally sit for hours and argue that a ghost is a disembodied spirit of a departed being, a possible otherworldly entity, or an incident that has had such a profound affect that it is destined to replaying its self in a constant and never ending loop. As for proving that spirits exist, no investigator at this point in time can provide any one piece of evidence that could provide conclusive proof that there truly are spirits around us.
The pursuit of conclusive paranormal evidence has sparked many theories on just how exactly one would go about proving to the general public without a shadow of a doubt that it is a ghost or that maybe it's not really a ghost at all. Let's now provide you the reader with one of these theories and allow you to decide for yourself if it is or is not a possibility
Who is not to say that the spirits that we see and try our hardest to prove are in some cases not ghosts at all, but glimpses of beings like ourselves from another, shall we say plane of existence. Also, who is not to say that as we search for glimpses of the paranormal that they are also looking for signs of spiritual manifestation in their realm? Just imagine that from time to time they catch glimpses of us and assume that we are the ever elusive spirits that they are trying to prove. A good example of this would be the shadow people. Imagine if you will that the shadow person that you catch glimpse of out the side of your eye is nothing more than a being from another place simply walking his or her dog. The distortion caused by an electromagnetic field could very well allow us a look at their world in a similar way that our friend the television allows us to watch our favorite paranormal show.
We are taught to believe that time and space are relevant, so who is not to say that in a universe of infinite possibilities that our plane of existence is not the only one.
Is this a possibility? Can this be proved or disproved? Is this just some off the wall theory?
You be the judge.
