Has it been 10 years already?
Current mood: nostalgic
This past week I got an email regarding my ten year high school reunion. I can't believe it has been ten years. I still feel like such a kid.
And with the invitation, all those stupid feelings that went along with high school came flooding back. I was by no means the kid that everyone made fun of, but I was a transfer student and didn't come into high school with all the friends from middle school. Even though I had my core group of friends, I always wondered what everyone else thought of me. I guess that's where my social anxiety comes into play.
Now I know that if someone was grading lives, at least half of my graduating class would be failing (at least in my opinion). But I still get the heebie jeebies wondering if people are going to think that my life is a failure. I am not married, I don't have kids, and I don't own a home, things that really matter where I came from. They don't matter to me, and they don't appear to be of concern to those that I still communicate with, shown by the fact that most are still single, childless, and without a mortgage.
I am sure that I will go and have a great time, trying to bite my tounge and not tell people that I am so glad that I got out of Augusta County. And I will do my best not to make fun of them because they are still there.
And I really hope that all the boys that I had crushes on have beer bellies, something that I don't think is too hard to obtain sitting around Greenville.
On a completly different note. If anyone has any of these songs, make me a mix cd. I'll love you forever. It's the playlist for what I have been listening to on BBC radio. I am addicted.

Not as bad as yesterday...
Current mood: giggly
Yesterday was one of the worst days in my life. Work was a bitch, and I come home to my landlord sitting outside the house, telling me that the plumber was going to come on Monday and fix the shower. To do that, he needs to get to the wall behind the shower. That wall happens to be where my bed is. Those of you that know me know what horrible news this is. My room is almost always at "post tornado" staus, and I don't really have anywhere to put the bed to move it. So instead of spending my day doing nothing as planned (which I totally deserve by the way), I spent it cleaning and rearranging furniture. But it's done, and that is a good thing. I like the new arrangement.
I think that the funniest thing about all the rearranging was the moving of the bookcase. I attempted to do it by myself, but then needed help. I called for the roommate and when she came in I started laughing hysterically. Here we are trying to move this thing with all the books still on it...in our underwear. It had gotten hot upstairs and all we had on while we were doing our things were tank tops and out undies. Talk about a perverts fantasy. Two chicks, moving furniture, half naked. I'm still laughing.
But as I was doing all this I realized I needed a few things for the room. So I made a trek to Wal-Mart. BAD IDEA. I let it slip my mind that this was the tax free weekend and the place was like a war zone. It compared to Christmas. Everyone and their brother was there getting school supplies and clothes. And since I only got stuff for the room, I didn't even get the tax break. What a crock. All that chaos and I didn't even get anything out of it.
Since I spent the day cleaning I treated myself to a little Buffy. Now on the second season. Love it! Angel=purrrrrrr.
Is there any way to clean out an air conditioner? My bed is now right beside mine and I can see all this gross stuff in it. Any suggestions let me know.

Death Cab = death?
Current mood: nerdy
I have got to stop listening to Death Cab For Cutie. It is making me sad. I love the music, but I guess it's not what I need to be listening to right now. I drove down to my parents house yesterday and listened to Plans on the way down there and then didn't have any other cd's that tickled my fancy at the moment, so I listened to it on the way back (in case you are wondering the ipod was not fully charged). I am now trying to make myself laugh by watching Nsync's no strings attached show that I taped from MSG in 2000. Quite a 180 from Death Cab don't you think? I can't believe how much I loved them 6 years ago. What the hell was I thinking? I can't blame it on being a starstruck teenager... I was 21. I only call it a lapse in sanity. I still have all the shit that I bought that remotely regarded the band. Some I will keep because I think that it might (and I stress might) be worth some money someday, but others I think I need to throw away. I still love Justin Timberlake though. A girl has got to have her guilty pleasure. Even during this concert you could tell that Justin was going to be bigger than anyone else. He just broke into his beat box routine. Awesome. For a pop star.
And after reading what I just wrote, I am now taking offers on info regarding how not to be a complete loser. Any suggestions that anyone may have are welcome. But please, be gentle.
Hope that everyone has been having a good summer so far. This summer seems to be flying by alot faster than last one. Maybe it's because I am working 2 jobs, but I feel like the summer is going my and I have nothing to show for it. I am making my first tubing trip this Saturday, and last year at this time I had been 3 times already. I am on a new med for by belly pain which rules out any kind of alcohol, so there goes the evenings at Rapture having a nice cold beer after a shitty day at work. Let's just hope the sobriety is worth it and I can get rid of this pain in my belly.
Ok. The concert is still on and I have to admit, thye put on a good show. At least for the age group that they are aiming for. Oh my god. I am such a loser. Hey. It's got a good beat and you can dance to it.

Addendum
I have just finished watching the movie. It was everything that I thought it would be. I am getting ready to break out the old NES. Childhood was an awesome thing.

Comfort
When I was in high school, there was one place where you were always welcome. Whether the people that you were going to see were there or not, you were welcomed in with a big hello and a big hug. That place was the Engleman home, and I am glad to know that things haven't changed.
I went to the Engleman house for a 4th of july party, and times have not changed. The minute that I got there, there were hellos coming from every direction, and coversations with people that I hadn't seen in a while picked up right where they left off. It is a wonderful thing to have people like that in your life.
Enough sappy talk. One of the only negatives (so far) of working in a music store that sells used DVD's and VHS is the fact that I am constantly bombarded with movies that I want to buy. Tonight was no exception. I came across a rare gem that I hadn't seen since my childhood and I had to get it. "The Wizard." I know. I am the biggest loser out there, but really, this movie is quality in its own little way. Yes, it does have Fred Savage in it, which should be the biggest negative of all, but it also has Christian Slater and Beau Bridges. And, the creme de la creme is that it was the first time that anyone ever saw Super Mario Bros. 3 (which I have beaten by the way). And it also has Nintendo's big flop, the glove, showcased. And if all that weren't enough...if memory serves, it has Jenny Lewis, way pre-Rilo Kiley. What more could someone ask for. I am in geek heaven!

Rainy Day Blues
So I guess I am not that blue. I actually like rainy summer days, as long there is no thunder or lightning involved. Then its a whole different story. I guess I jsut love sitting on a porch, or looking out the window at the rain. And the smell, oh the smell! I love the smell of summer rain. Oh my god. I am such a dork right now.
As much as I love the rain, it put a big kablooey on my plans to go tubing on Sunday. I haven't been yet this season and I am dying to go. I need to get some sun on my pale ass, and I can't just lay out. There is no fun in that. My roommate can spend hours laying out, working on her melanoma, but not me. I need something to make the time go by.
Spent Saturday night with the fmaily in Waynesboro. As I get older, it occurs to me what an awesome thing it is to have a loving family in your life. Ones that don't judge and love you no matter what. You can act goofy and not wonder what they are thinking about you.
On the other hand, I spent Saturday morning in hell. I spent the first hour at plan 9 answering the phone, listening to people ask about rasslin' tickets and whether we still had them for sale. I was afraid I might have nightmares about it, all those bad country accents calling me on the phone, but luckily my night was nightmare free. I thought that Thursday night had been bad when dealing with all the people looking for the George Jones tickets early, but nothing is quite the same as the fans of WWE.

Random Thoughts
So I have a few random thoughts for a Monday night. Here goes.
Working in a record store on a Monday night sucks. All the new music comes in but you can't put it out right away, you have to wait until right before the store closes. So there you are at 8:55 running around trying to put all these cd's out so you can leave by 9. It sucks.
I am addicted to crappy tv. Right now I am watching this stupid show on MTV called "Fast Inc." It is about these guys who buy and sell cars to stars. Basically, if you have money and you want a rare car for something then you call these guys and they find the car for you. Right now they are looking for Model t's and they heard this rumor that there were some buried in the desert so they are going out there with metal detectors. I can't turn it off. I've tried, but I am glued to it.
There is this man that I see walking every day on my way home from work that just amazes me. I actually spoke to him today, he was at the gas station near my house. He is very nice, but he remains a mystery. Every time I see him, he has on no shirt, jeans, boots all the way up to his knees with the jeans tucked in, and a knapsack over his shoulder. I wonder what he's like, and what he does all day.
Ok. So I guess that was only three random thoughts. I really thought that I had more. I think of things during the day, and then I forget them. I need to start writing things.down.

Another busy weekend
Current mood: cranky
So my weekend begins with another attack of belly pain and no answer as to why this keeps happening. The doctor took blood again and gave me a prescription for nexium and told me to have clear liquids today. What a crock. That's not a solution to this long term problem. What am I supposed to do? Never eat solid food again?
Tomorrow I have to go to a funeral at the Catholic church in Staunton. This will be the second time in a week that I have had to go to that church. Is God trying to tell me something?
Sunday I am off to my grandparents 60th anniversary party. Sixty years. I can't believe it. In this day and age I didn't think that was possible. But, four kids, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren later, they are still going strong. I only hope that I can be so lucky someday.
Congrats go out to my friend Ange who got the punk that stole her purse arrested and then sentanced today. Hopefully she won't have to wait too long to get the money for her camera back. It makes me feel good to know that the cops can still catch the bad guys and not just give us tickets.
I'm off to bed, I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Things I Love....At this moment
Today I am in a good mood and feeling pretty good. So I am now comprising a list of things I love, based on things that I have seen today.
Clean sheets. Not just clean sheets, but a freshly made bed and the smell of downy that fills my nose when I lay in that bed. There's just something about a fresh, lovely smelling bed that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
My dogs. They absolutley crack me up. They are scared of thunderstorms and everytime a storm comes they run to the top of the stairs. Today Xena got stuck at the top and she started whining and I came out to help her and she had this look on her face that said "Thank you, Mommy! You are my hero!" and there is no one else that could ever look at me like that. Except for maybe my kids when I have them someday.
Buffy. I put in season 1 of Buffy the vampire slayer while I was cleaning my room today and I forgot how much I loved to watch this show. Highly entertaining. She's a girl who kicks ass and makes me laugh all at the same time.
Friends. People who text me to tell me that they are watching Top Gun and that they swear that this time Goose will not die. Friends who laugh at me when they come back from laying in the sun and I tell them that their cancer is coming in nicely. And then don't throw it back in my face that the concer in my lungs is coming in nicely as well.
That makes it about all for today. It has been a long day, I spent the bulk of it cleaning (which is not something I love). I can say it's done now and all 93 pairs of socks have been put safely away. I only have one basket full of dirty clothes too. I think that is a huge improvement.
