Finished run

Santa Monica Classic was fun, I would run it again next year, although probably the 10k.
The 5k was fairly disasterous for the sponsors.  The 10k and the 5k share the first part of the course, but the 5k naturally turns around in the middle of the 10k course.  Well that is, they would if they had known to.  Apparently the sponsors forgot to tell people to turn around, and the race leaders ended up running about 4 miles instead of 3.  I got told by the front runners on their way back and turned around where I was, but this was already a good 1/2 - 1 minute beyond the turn around point.  To put it in perspective, I think only the 10 minute pace people turned around at the right point, and they turned around within my eyesight in front of me.  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.  I caught up and passed them, but what a disaster for so many people.
Anyhow, like I said, it was fun and I'll probably do it again next year if it's around, it was nice weather for a run and a nice course.
I finished in 27:52 (should probably have been 26.5-27 I guess without the screwup)
Nora beat me relative to her division, but I'd like to point out I ran an extra .5 miles she didn't =P
me: 14/112
her: 7/142
*ouch*
however, the extra distances make things all whack for everyone ... too bad ...

and this is a reminder

for me to put up a post on my experiences with a tiling contractor.
Some highlights;
got a estimate with "Plooming" "Oronge, Cal", "Tile Istallacion".

I dunno, as uncomfortable as I would feel with a general contrator rather than a plumber doing plumbing, I would feel even more uncomfortable if he spelled it "Plooming".  WTF.

On things that piss me off

So, I posted we had made a bid on a house and accepted the seller's counter bid which was only 5k$ less than their original asking price.
Well yesterday was the home inspection.

seller's flyer "3 year old roof"
MLS listing - "newer 25 year roof"
seller's questionaire - 5-6 year old roof
inspector - looks like atleast 10!

seller's flyer - Copper pipes
MLS - Plumbing: All Copper!
inspector - I don't see any copper, but I see some rotting galvanized steel!

!@$!@%
Other notables:
the fireplace has a gas line in it, and the gas turn off and on valve is in the fireplace itself.  Not surprisingly this is not code or legal.
the main electrical box is only rated for 50 amps.  It is rated with a breaker known to improperly fail and cause fires.  The house has an A/C.  A/C requires 100 amp by code.

!@$!@ you!

So we submitted a list of corrections needed and asked for a credit of 15k$ to fix them (the list was two pages).

Quite frankly I'm pissed off.  In addition, the seller's agent acts like a !@$!@ if you ask me.

wtf? garage finishing

so the garage in the new place is unfinished, and by that I mean it's your typical garage with exposed wood beams and walls and the like, and some wood shelves from like 1910 or so (exagerating).  Anyhow, it's incredibly easy to finish a garage, so I got to thinking about it and looking around for what I would need.  Costco has some good garage flooring products that I know of, so I went browsing, and WTF?

ummmmmm

house

So this is premature to post this, but since I'm not likely to keep the news in until escrow closes - We've started the process of buying a house.  There are 14 days left of contingency period and 30 days left of escrow.  It would have been more convenient if we had enterred escrow earlier so we could be out of our current house in plenty of time for our landlord to start letting people see their place for more renters (can't exactly do that while we have cats in the house :/).

Well anyhow, that's my news.  Since the place is ever FURTHER away from where I work, I may be selling/trading in my G35 for a civic *sigh, gas mileage*.
but like I said, that's 30+ days away.

Definitely going to have to repaint that teal room, egads.
