Sage Francis blogs about censorship and scarification. I whole-heartedly agree. hd
THE UGLY TRUTH
OMFG LOL ewww gross OMG....O-M-F-G......!!!
Apparently I can be bombarded with half naked photos of young girls on Myspace (via ADVERTISING) day in and day out but somehow I've crossed an imaginary line the moment I post the picture of some one's back with words carved into it.
I have a photo album dedicated to tattoos that have a connection to me or my music. People send me pictures of their tattoos and I post them up. Some of these people get ridiculed for it while others get praised. I can't grasp the audacity some people have to judge what other people do with their own bodies, but I can be entertained by random ignorance so I accept a lot of the comments. Some people make the gross assumption that these tattoos are all about me. I don't believe that people are getting these tattoos out of adoration for the person who makes the music. I do believe that I've expressed certain ideas that people connect to on strong levels, and sometimes people decide to mark their bodies with a concept I've been able to put in words in a way that they appreciate. I don't ever suggest that people go and do this sort of thing, but when they do I feel honored and that's why I've created a photobook dedicated to body art.
Body art. The operative word being art. The other operative word being body. This guy took a razor blade to his back and etched "LI(F)E" into it, which is in reference to a lyrics of mine that say: "Life is just a lie with an f in it and death is definite." This lyric seemed to hit home with many people, as tattoos have been sprouting up with a similar image over the past year. I've posted the pictures up of the tattoos and not a single one resulted in outrage from the people who frequent my site.
Yet, seconds after I posted up the LI(F)E scarification I had people berating me and telling me how irresponsible I am. Oh Lordy...the children...THE CHILDREN...they will see this and get horrible ideas! I don't know about you, but I didn't need a picture of scarification to influence me before I put a razor blade to my own skin as a kid. The major difference there is my action had no artistic intent.
What offends me is the puritanical facade a lot of people out there seem to be living. When the person in the picture above first sent me the photos of him being sliced open for the sake of scarification (not much unlike a tattoo...just more natural) I messaged him and said, "I gotta be honest. This is making me feel a bit ill. I hope you take care of that." He responded back explaining that he knows what he's doing and it is healing well.
The more I looked at the photo the closer it hit home to me. It doesn't even matter if it heals well or if it looks cool when all is said and done. The fact that someone carved LI(F)E into their back and showed the blood coming from the wounds is powerful. It's a powerful statement to me. So I posted it up as my default picture and received over 100 comments within the first hour before Myspace was alerted and removed it from my page without warning. Kudos.
It's funny the kind of things I take to heart. As someone who does a lot of business online I frequent websites that attack me personally on various levels...but none of that really stings. It's par for the course. The fact that people went out of their way to have an image removed from my myspace page because they found it offensive really annoys me. Who are you protecting?
You think I'm irresponsible? Have you even listened to my music? People have been calling my lyrics irresponsible since I was a kid. Just last month I had an old folk singer call me irresponsible for not being more peaceful. I wrote a song called Inherited Scars which details the struggles and mentality of a cutter, and I was called irresponsible by a family member. Who the hell are we protecting by demanding that the ugly stuff gets repressed? If you are offended by art that reflects the reality of what we're all going through in this world then you have a great friend in Big Brother and a great enemy in social progress.
Do you know what the worst thing about censorship is? The worst thing is *** *** ******* ********.
Oh...snap.
Sincerely,
Sage Francis www.strangefamous.com

New evidence collected in 1946 lynching case
Current mood: nauseated
It's official. White folks are indeed devils. I have dealt w/ racism for years being part of the south where it still thrives and lives. Yes, it's true...many years later and people are still as ignorant as ever. The word "nigger" strikes a nerve for a reason. It is not politically incorrect, but simply morally wrong and I am sick to death of the superior attitude that white people have. Even if they admit it or not. Kill all the white people. FUCK! Aight, I feel like listening to Dead Prez now...read on. hd
ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) -- State and federal investigators said Tuesday that they spent the past two days gathering evidence in the last documented mass lynching in the United States: a grisly slaying of four people that has remained unsolved for more than six decades.
Relatives of the Malcoms and Dorseys stand at their loved ones' fresh graves in this 1946 photo.
..
In a written statement, the FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said they collected several items on a property in rural Walton County, Georgia, that were taken in for further investigation.
On July 25, 1946, two black sharecropper couples were shot hundreds of times and the unborn baby of one of the women cut out with a knife at the Moore's Ford Bridge. One of the men had been accused of stabbing a white man 11 days earlier and was bailed out of jail by a former Ku Klux Klan member and known bootlegger who drove him, his wife, her brother and his wife to the bridge.
The FBI statement said investigators were following up on information recently received in the case, one of several the agency has revived in an effort to close decades-old cases from the civil rights era and before.
"The FBI and GBI had gotten some information that we couldn't ignore with respect to this case," GBI spokesman John Bankhead said.
Georgia state Rep. Tyrone Brooks, a longtime advocate for prosecution in the Moore's Ford case, called news of the search encouraging.
"We just hope and pray they can bring some of these suspects to the bar of justice before they die, because they're all getting up in age," said Brooks, the president of the Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials.
Investigations like the one into the Georgia slayings may have gotten another boost in the past week. A U.S. senator agreed to unlock a bill that would create a "cold case unit" at the U.S. Justice Department. Cold-case Convictions 1977: Ex-Klansman Robert Chambliss convicted of 1963 church bombing that killed four black girls in Birmingham, Alabama 1994: Byron de la Beckwith convicted in 1963 sniper murder of Mississippi civil rights activist Medgar Evers 1998: Former Klan leader Samuel Bowers convicted in the death of NAACP leader Vernon Dahmer Sr., killed in 1966 firebombing of his Mississippi home 2001, 2002: Thomas Blanton Jr. then Bobby Frank Cherry convicted of involvement in 1963 Birmingham church bombing 2003: Earnest Avants convicted in 1966 slaying of handyman Ben Chester White, purportedly to lure the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Natchez, Mississippi 2005: Edgar Ray Killen sentenced to 60 years in prison for the 1964 "Mississippi Burning" manslaughter of three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, Mississippi 2007: Former sheriff's deputy and Klansman James Ford Seale convicted in the 1964 deaths of two Mississippi teenagers
-- Sources: CNN, The Associated Press
The legislation is sponsored by Democratic U.S. Rep. John Lewis of Georgia and passed 422-2 in the House. But Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma, used an obscure Senate rule to freeze the bill, just as he routinely does on efforts that require government spending.
The plan would authorize $10 million a year for the next 10 years for the Justice Department to create a unit prosecuting pre-1970 civil rights cases. Another $3.5 million would go annually toward the department's cooperative efforts with local law enforcement.
But last week, a spokesman said Coburn would lift the hold in exchange for a vote on cutting Justice Department spending in other areas.
Law enforcement officials say they face a daunting task prosecuting the deaths of Roger and Dorothy Malcom and George and May Murray-Dorsey.
Many of the dozen or so men who opened fire on the couples with shotguns, rifles and a machine gun are now dead, they say. And in the days following the massacre, residents of the community about 40 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia, were tight-lipped with federal agents sent by President Truman to investigate.
But advocates like Brooks say they think there was enough evidence in FBI files at the time to bring a case against the suspects. He said his group has identified five suspects in the slayings who are still alive.
Morgan County chief sheriff's Deputy Bruce Wright said the 12-acre area searched Monday and Tuesday may have once been a working farm. The written statement said the current residents of the area are not suspects.
Bankhead and Wright said a bomb squad was called in to detonate some old military-style ordnance found on the property, but those explosives were not thought to be relevant to the Moore's Ford case.
The lynchings were officially re-opened for investigation by former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes nearly eight years ago and were on a list of revived cold cases cited by former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales early last year.
Brooks said he and other advocates have noticed renewed activity by investigators in the area since then. advertisement
"We can feel their presence when we're there," he said. "Every time we do something, people show up that we've never seen before, and we know they're not regular folks who live in Walton County. We don't get in their way, and we don't ask many questions."
Historians say there has never again been a documented case of as many people being lynched -- killed by mob without due process -- in one attack in the United States since Moore's Ford.

You are hereby ordered to fall upon the rebels,ie: McDonalds
Current mood: angsty
These are things you will not need For the Apocalypse but if you ever intend to grow your very own sugar crystals you will indeed need the following items. I'm assuming in no particular order.
* Food Coloring * Glass Jars * Oven Mitts * Saucepans * Stirring Spoons * Pencils * Paper And Binder Clips * Cotton String * 3 c. sugars
Okay so this is barely noteworthy, I am apparently officially hood in every sense of the word and I've lost any kind of credibility that I have had w/ the kids...but this new Usher is the fucking jam! Homeboy is talking to me. This shit is serious!
Furthermore, I have been extremely intrigued by this case for years. There is an incredible book by Russ Myer that I read years ago. It's one of many I am sure on this subject. At any rate, Genie remains a mystery as to her whereabouts and true identity. For more info & insight, check out feralchildren.com
Early life
Genie is the fourth (and second surviving) child of unstable parents, Irene and Clark. An elder brother also lived in the home.[1] Irene was partially blind due to cataracts and a detached retina, and Clark (who was 20 years his wife's senior) was mentally unbalanced. His condition seems to have worsened after his mother's death in a hit-and-run accident.
When Genie was between 14 and 20 months of age and was just beginning to learn speech, a doctor told her family that she seemed to be developmentally delayed and possibly mildly retarded. Her father took the opinion to extremes, decided that she was profoundly retarded, and subjected her to severe confinement and ritual ill-treatment in an attempt to "protect" her.
Genie spent the next 12 years of her life locked in her bedroom. During the day, she was tied to a child's potty chair in diapers; at night, she was bound in a sleeping bag and placed in an enclosed crib with a cover made of metal screening. Her father beat her every time she vocalized, and he barked and growled at her like a dog in order to keep her quiet. He also rarely allowed his wife and son to leave the house or even to speak, and he expressly forbade them to speak to Genie. By the age of 13, Genie was almost entirely mute, commanding a vocabulary of about 20 words and a few short phrases (nearly all negative), such as "stop it" and "no more".
Rescue
Genie was discovered at the age of 13, when her mother ran away from her husband and took her daughter with her. On November 4, 1970, the two entered a welfare office in Temple City, California to seek benefits for the blind. A social worker met them and guessed that Genie was 6 or 7 years old and possibly autistic. When it was revealed that she was actually 13, the social worker immediately called her supervisor, who then notified the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.[4] Temple Station Deputies responded, the parents were charged with child abuse, and Genie was taken to Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Genie's mother, weak and almost blind, claimed she was herself a victim of abuse by Genie's father. The father committed suicide by shooting himself on the day both parents were to be arraigned on child abuse charges. Charges against the mother went forward in municipal court, but the judge refused to forward the charges to superior court stating "No judge or jury would ever convict this woman".
Genie had a strange "bunny walk", in which she held her hands up in front, like paws. Although she was almost entirely silent, she constantly sniffed, spat and clawed. Many of the items she coveted were objects with which she could play.[5] In spite of her condition, hospital staff hoped they could nurture her to normality. When interest in the case widened, Genie became the focus of an investigation to discover whether there might be a critical age threshold for language acquisition. Within a few months of therapy, she had advanced to one-word answers and had learned to dress herself. Her doctors predicted complete success. They even screened François Truffaut's movie The Wild Child for ideas. Psychologist James Kent became her surrogate parent.
First foster home
Jean Butler was Genie's teacher at Children's Hospital. Butler became Genie's foster parent by accident or by, what members of the Genie team suspected, a scheme that Butler concocted to allow Genie to stay with her. Butler claimed that she herself had had a rash that was likely measles, and thus when Genie had visited her home, Genie may have contracted it. Genie was moved to Butler's home with the initial intent of a temporary quarantine, but the stay became prolonged when Butler petitioned to make it permanent. Butler became very protective of Genie and resisted visits by other members of the Genie team including Susan Curtiss and James Kent.
Butler's personal journal recorded concern that Genie was taxed too greatly by the Genie team and experiments; however (according to Susan Curtiss in the Nova transcript), Butler didn't hide that she hoped Genie would make her famous. According to Curtiss, Butler frequently stated that she was "going to be the next Annie Sullivan." Her true intentions may never be known, but many members of the Genie team claimed genuine affection for Genie and an overwhelming desire to "rescue" her.
Butler did, however, continue the essential practice of observing and documenting Genie's behavior while in her home. One such behavior Butler documented was Genie's practice of hoarding, a behavior typical of children who have been moved from abusive homes. When Butler applied to be Genie's legal foster parent, she was rejected.
Second foster home
Genie returned to the hospital and was handed over to a new foster parent, therapist David Rigler. His wife Marilyn became Genie's new teacher. Marilyn found the need to teach Genie unconventional lessons, for example in anger management. Genie would go into a fit of rage and act out against herself, so Marilyn taught Genie to "rage" through jumping, slamming doors, stomping her feet and generally "having a fit." Marilyn noted that Genie had a stronger command of vocabulary than most children acquiring language. During this period Genie was even able to discuss her years of abuse:
Marilyn Rigler: Where did you stay when you lived at home? Where did you live? Where did you sleep? Genie: Potty chair. Marilyn Rigler: You slept in the potty chair? Genie: Mmm-hmm. Potty chair.
She stayed with the Rigler family for the next four years. During that period she began to learn some language, and the Riglers arranged for her to learn sign language. She also learned to smile. If she could not express herself in language, she would try to communicate by drawing a picture.
Loss of funds and interest
Despite Genie's relative success, the National Institute of Mental Health, which had funded the project, grew concerned about the lack of scientific research data generated. In 1974, the Institute cut off funding. The following year the Riglers decided to discontinue their foster parenting. Genie had not yet learned full grammatical English and only went so far as phrases like "Applesauce buy store".
Later childhood
Genie's mother had been charged with child abuse, but the charges were later dropped after a trial in municipal court. In 1975, Genie was returned to the custody of her mother, who wished to care for her daughter. After a few months, the mother found that taking care of Genie was too difficult, and Genie was transferred to a succession of six more foster homes. In some of the homes she was physically abused and harassed, and her development regressed severely, returning to her coping mechanism of silence and the addition of a new fear of opening her mouth. This new fear developed after being severely punished for vomiting in one of her foster homes; she didn't want to open her mouth, even to speak, for fear of vomiting and facing punishment again.
The original research team heard nothing more about Genie until her mother sued them for excessive and outrageous testing and claimed the researchers gave testing priority over Genie's welfare, pushing her beyond the limits of her endurance. The suit was settled in 1984.
Present condition
Genie now lives in a sheltered accommodation in an undisclosed location in Southern California; it is at least her sixth adult foster home. Her mother died in 2003.[1]
An independent film entitled Mockingbird Don't Sing is based on Genie's life.

temple of blasphemy
Current mood: discontent
As a worthy consideration I come to question, refine and confirm my own sense of the prurient and my own tastes and lusts by reading/viewing material ( nazi triumphs, kiddie torture, fresh blood, and subversive behaivor) which has, as its sole reason for existence, the satisfaction of prurient interests, extreme though they may be. In fact their extreme nature once again only serves as a greater potential to cast my own tastes into starker relief, and to question and isolate the role and function of ethics and morality, as well as social standards: in their genesis, in their expression, and in their satisfaction. The imperatives demanded by a lust for the unconditioned - a nostalgia for the Absolute - will accept nothing less... and by the way, I just so happen to LOVE the new Coldplay. If you have a problem w/ that you can fucking die, asshole.

Rapper Camu Tao Dies From Cancer
On stage in Minneapolis, Minnesota Sunday evening, Aesop Rock announced that emcee Camu Tao had died after nearly a two-year bout with lung cancer. The Columbus, Ohio native born Tero Smith, was just less than two weeks away from his 31st birthday. He reportedly passed in his hometown.
Camu Tao rose to fame with the MHz crew, which also consisted of producer RJD2, emcees Copywrite and Jakki Tha Mottomouth, plus DJ Przm, who passed away just under a year ago as well [click to read]. As the crew ascended to the ranks of the underground Hip Hop community through releases on Fondle 'Em and ABB Records, Camu would end up at High & Mighty's Eastern Conference imprint as a solo artist. There, he would record his most significant album, Nighthawks with Cage, after a reported three-day recording session. The album was inspired by the Sylvester Stallone film of the same name.
Camu was also active with Def Jux Records. There, he would be a part of The Weathermen crew with Aesop Rock, Cage, El-P, Breeze Brewin and others, as well as one-half of S.A. Smash. With Metro, the latter group would release 2003's Smashy Trashy. Additionally, Camu did release two editions of the limited Blair Cosby solo albums, as well as 2004's Going For De Gold. None of the three efforts were distributed nationally.
Throughout the last three years, Camu's career had been feature appearances and production on peer albums while he readied his Def Jux solo. Highlights include producing and appearing on Cage's critically-acclaimed Hell's Winter ("The Death of Chris Palko" [click to read]) comeback album [click to read], appearing on Aesop Rock's Danger, Fire & Knives album ("Rockety Rackety"), as well as Slow Suicide Stimulus album ("Cutty Sharks" / "Regardless").
Definitive Jux has yet to release a formal statement on Camu Tao's passing, although El-P did confirm the tragedy, but HipHopDX sends our condolences to family, loved ones and peers of the late, very talented producer/emcee.

"The fact that the overwhelming majority of thinkers rejects any doctrine of solipsism suggests the basic horror and disgusting unreality of its implications. And after all, the horrific feeling of unreality is much more prevalent (to certain people) in what we call human 'reality' than in human dreams, where everything is absolutely real." Thomas Ligotti
