GOON / ROLLERGIRLS CONTEST!!!

When we thought about what Goon Fans would want most, it was blatantly obvious...TO GO TO NASHVILLE AND WATCH A ROLLER DERBY! That's why TFAW.com is sponsoring The Goon Trip To A Nashville Rollergirls Bout Contest, or TGTTANRBC for short.




Because we want to keep you Goon readers happy, we'll fly you and a guest to Nashville to be Eric Powell's guests at a Nashville Rollergirls bout and afterparty! Thing is, you gotta enter the TGTTANRBC...and win.




Here's the deal:

*Beg, borrow or steal yourself a video camera (on second thought, don't steal).

*Shoot your entry that combines The Goon and roller skating. Get creative because Eric Powell and the Nashville Rollergirls will be judging your entry.

*Post your MySpace video on Eric Powell's MySpace Page: www.myspace.com/goonguy

*Sit back and cross your fingers, toes and anything else you can cross.




The Small Print

BY ENTERING YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:

*You must be 21 or older to enter this contest and a resident of the United States of America. Winner's guest must also be 21 or older to claim prize.

*All entries must be posted on Eric Powell's MySpace page no later than 11:59 PM (EST) September 22, 2008 to qualify.

*Your entry can be as simple or as complex as you want, just make sure The Goon and skating are involved.

*Entries will be judged by Eric Powell and the Nashville Rollergirls, whose decision is final.

*THINGS FROM ANOTHER WORLD, INC. will retain video rights to submitted video entries.

*Winner will receive airfare (from the continental U.S.) and accommodations for two to Nashville to join Eric Powell at the October 18th Nashville Rollergirls bout.

*Eric Powell, The Nashville Rollergirls, MySpace.com, Things From Another World, Inc. and all their affiliates and subsidiaries will not be held responsible for injury sustained during or after the Nashville Rollergirls bout or during travel. Nor are they responsible if you pass out and Eric Powell draws things on your face. We might hold your hair back if you need us to, but that's about as far as it goes. Winner and guest will need to sign a release that states that you're cool with that.

BEST SAN DIEGO CON EVER!

This year's San Diego Comic-con was the best experience I have ever had at that show. I seriously needed this trip. The grind of working on the monthly had me getting a little burnt out and having such a fun, relaxed, positive, and productive little get away was incredible. Here are just a few of the many reasons San Diego was full of awesomeness!

• Rambo got to practice with the San Diego Derby Dolls and skate on a banked track for the first time ever!

• Amazing guys working my booth! They took care of everything before I even asked. Made the whole show incredibly stress free.

• My booth did awesome!

• The Goon movie teaser poster thrown together by Blur! It went over HUGE!

• Hanging with all my pals and my incredible friends that I hardly get to see.

• The Panel I did with Tom Lennon, Ben Garant, and Brian Posehn.

• A string of really productive meetings. We got some cool stuff coming next year!

• I won two Eisner Awards!

• Best of all, the first one I won was presented by Tom and Ben. It was amazing that they were there to take part in that moment with me. Too cool. It meant a lot to me.

Best ever.

ERIC POWELL AT SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON ’08

Eric Powell will be returning to the geekdom Armageddon that is San Diego Comic-Con. Please come visit him at the Eric Powell booth (booth 2208) near the front of the hall in the independent press area. Signing times to be posted at the booth daily.

Once again Eric will be clearing out his portfolio at Comic-Con. Along with Goon pages and various other pieces, he will be selling off his Superman pages from his run on the Escape from Bizarro World storyline in Action Comics.

Also for sale at the booth from BS Publishing is the Eric Powell Comic-Con exclusive sketchbook. This is the first limited edition San Diego exclusive sketchbook of Powell's work and the first in a series of exclusive artist's sketchbooks from BS Publishing.

Other limited edition merchandise available includes the Nashville Rollergirls 2008 benefit print painted by Eric Powell. Extremely limited to only 500 signed and numbered prints, this previously unpublished piece of art features the Goon kicking monster a$$ with Nashville Rollergirl, Ramb0Samb0. The lovely bruiser will be on hand to sign prints. All proceeds from the sale of this print go directly to the Nashville Rollergirls, Music City's ONLY Roller Derby!

And be sure not to miss the Goon panel in 30AB on Friday at 6:30 pm. A Q&A with Goon creator Eric Powell and Reno 9-11 writers and stars Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon about their new super secret, super fantastic comic project! If you miss this panel everyone will know more about this project than you and that makes you stupid and unattractive to women.

MY FRIENDS ARE GONE?

Checked myspace today and my top friends list was replaced with people I don't know. Anybody else have this problem?
