Global day of action for burma (in Portland Maine) - today
Body: Global day of action for burma (in Portland Maine) - today

Body: .. To draw attention to the continued oppression of the Burmese people and to keep/build the pressure on national governments and the UNSC to do all that they can to alleviate that suffering.

Objectives:

Ø Substantial national and international media coverage focussed on a day of demonstrations in as many cities as possible.

Ø Clear messages delivered to national governments and the UNSC that they must do all they can to end the suffering of the people of Burma.

Ø Clear messages to Burmese, Chinese, Indian, Russia and European governments that the people of the world are watching their actions. Messages:

Ø The UN Security Council must act now to alleviate the crisis

Ø The International Community/ the US government must do more/keep the pressure on until the military crackdown ends and all political prisoners are released.

Ø The people of the world stand with the people of Burma. Concept: In as many countries as possible there will be demonstrations in cities demanding action. The aim is to have as many similar components across all of the demonstrations to ensure we generate an international news story. The elements we want to keep the same around the world are:

Ø The starting time: *12 Noon Saturday 6th October.*

Ø The demonstrators: Should all be wearing red in solidarity with the Monks in Burma.

Ø The action: Demonstrators will tie red ribbons/cloth onto key landmarks e.g. the trees at and near *Monument Square* Portland Maine

Snake Chapman, friend to all critters
Current mood: ecstatic
Category: Religion and Philosophy

Who knew?   Legendary Old Time Kentucky fiddler,  Owen ( Snake) Chapman was a friend to all animals.  He would always help wounded critters out that he found on the side of roads or or in the woods, mountains and hollers he passed through. He considered them worthy of God  and believed they had souls as much as humans do.

Dry and Dusty is one of the best tunes ever, who else agrees?   A very bagpipe friendly Appalachian tune.

The Wall
Current mood: disappointed
Category: Life

What is your opinion on the wall going up across the U.S.-Mexico border?Are you aware of the environmental issues besides the human ones?   The Jaguar is threatened from extinction in the U.S. if this goes into place.  Its natural territory extends from the Sierra Madre Mt's to the middle of New Mexico and Arizona.  If cut off by a wall, they will surely not survive here.  What could we do as an alternative?
