Old Man [I had to post it... I just had to!]
Current mood: amused

Old Man

An elderly man in North Carolina had owned a large farm for several years. He had a large pond in the back, fixed up really nice, along with some picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees. The pond was properly shaped and fixed up for swimming when it was built.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. When he came closer, he realized it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end to shield themselves.

One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!"

The old man frowned and replied, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to feed the alligator."

Moral of the story: Old men may move slow but can still think fast.

Keeping your monitor alive longer.
Current mood: satisfied
Category: Web, HTML, Tech

I've had my comp for 5 years the oonly thing i've had to change were my memory card and my hard drive. Last night i came home and to my dismay the monitor was on the fritz. I spent 2 hrs finding out what was wrong and came up blank. This morning I rembered something some one once told my about television screens "they constantly refresh" how do ii draw similiarities between the two? Simple the use the same technology: Cathode Ray Tube (CRT). you may be interested to know these points: 1) Turning up the brightness and or contrast too high on your monitor shortens it's life span. 50/40 is high enough. 2)The monitor's refresh rate should be as low as possiable 60 hrtz is good. Keep the monitor ventaliated (Unless u r filthy rich then you can afford to buy one every two yrs)

Your Computers Check Up
Current mood: relaxed
Category: Web, HTML, Tech

Ever wake up one day and feel lazy? Well guess what? Your computer experiences the same thing. The cure? First off use the disk defragmenter supplied with windows this can increase the performance of your computer drastically, fet a registry management tool I recomend CCleaner. And last but not least get virus and spyware protection.<--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->The Disk Defragmenter: When you delete a file in windows the space left by that file does not get filled in even if you save another file after deleting the first. This causes the system to slow down because windows is constantly looking for files scattered all over the hard drive. Disk Defragmenter Solves this problem by arranging the files in a logical order. Please not that you should use this utillity at leats once a moth and never use it when your internet connection is active better yet start disk defragmenter and leave the computer to do it's work.<-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> CCleaner: This program not only manages your registry but it has features that enable you to clean the most recently used list in windows, index.dat files, and internet cache and history. As always do not perform any maintaince if your internet connection is active. Just Start the clean up process and leave the rest to your computer. This program is available at www.download.com.<-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Spyware/Virus Protection:There are many such programs out there but my favourite is Norton 2k5 with Internet Security, this comes with a personal firewall, very cool stuff. You should know that you do not have to have a web browsr or any internet enabled program running for your computer to be attacke by viruses or spy ware. Get some Protection Today.

All that is old is Not gatbage.
Current mood: relaxed
Category: Web, HTML, Tech

I was shocked to notice that a friend of mine had an old IBM pc running in perfect condition, the outside of the computer case was battle scared an worn to the point that you could not recognise the model. I and this friend had recently done a computer technician packae. So I asked about the computer and he rightly said "Its cheaper to upgrade than to buy a new one" upon further iinspection I discovered that this ten yr old computer was up to date in every aspect. P4 processor, 256 MB DDR.... my point is. Why buy a new one when you can upgrade?
