Trifecta

I've been pretty busy this month, so for anybody I haven't talked to, let me catch you up on what's been going on.

At the beginning of the month, I moved into a new apartment, which I love. It has a great little balcony and I have very nice neighbors. I'm officially in the Valentine neighborhood, and there are some beautiful houses near me. I love it, have I mentioned that?

Then Becky called a little over a week later and said I needed to call someone about a job she heard was open. The next day I had an offer. Monday I start full time at Integrated Printing in Overland Park. If anybody is over that way and wants to have lunch, give me a call.

On Tuesday I got a new car too. Well, it's used, but it's great. It's a Santa Fe with plenty of room and it came with a heavy duty plastic mud mat for the back! No worries about getting the interior dirty anymore. I can just toss all of my stuff in the back and when it gets gross, I'll just pull out the hose. I'm already thinking about my first roadtrip, so if you have a suggestion, or want to go, let me know.

There's the scoop. What a month! Things are going well, let's hope the rest of the year keeps up.

art and story

This made me start thinking about getting a life story out in some form, either on paper, or as a collage, or maybe photos. Not necessarily my story, but someone's. Which reminds me. Nick Bantock has a new book due out in September.

I have eaten your bread and salt,
I have drunk your water and wine,
The deaths ye died I have watched beside,
And the lives that ye led were mine.

Was there aught that I did not share
In vigil or toil or ease,--
One joy or woe that I did not know,
     Dear hearts across the seas?

I have written the tale of our life
     For a sheltered person's mirth,
In jesting guise--but ye are wise,
And ye know what the jest is worth.
