Dutch metallic hardcore heroes BORN FROM PAIN have completed recording their new album, 'Survival', for a late October/early November release via Metal Blade Records. The band states about the CD, which is currently being mixed and mastered: "It's musically as uncompromising as ever with an own twist in groove, melody, heaviness and harshness. Lyrically more than ever making a critical and uncompromising stand concerning the state of the world today."
Regarding the new album's lyrical theme, the band writes: "In the year 2008 the world is more than ever in a state of disarray and chaos. The powers that be do not seem to care about the people they claim responsibility for or feed their wealth. Nature is raped. People are misled. In other news, BORN FROM PAIN has announced the addition of bassist Andries Beckers (THE SETUP) to the group's ranks. Regarding the band's drummer situation, BORN FROM PAIN states, "Roy Moonen (formerly of 37 STABWOUNDZ) had been helping out until Roel's injury would be better and he'd be ready to come back again. Sadly, his condition didn't get better over the last 8 months and was advised by doctors not to go back to the intense drumming schedule in fear of permanent damage to his arm. Obviously, Roel thought it was better for the band to continue without him. Roel is currently back on his physiotherapy schedule and might have to be operated. MACHINEMADE GOD part ways with Singer Flo
After 5 years MACHINEMADE GODs frontman and founding member Florian „Flow" Velten decided to leave the band.
Flo: „This was definately one of the toughest decisions I had to make, and it was really hard to face the fact that I'm truely giving up on this band. There are a lot of reasons that have brought me to this, but I don't wanna talk shit or blame anyone for the trouble we had with and within the band. Instead I wanna thank everyone for the good times I had while being in this band, all the people I have met, the places I have seen just by playing music and doing what I love. Thanks to everyone who supported us, came to our shows, bought our stuff, booked us, promoted us, all the bands we had the chance and pleasure to tour and share the stage with and everyone at Metal Blade Records for giving us the chance to be a part of the MB-Family, and all the awesome work they have done for us. "Saudades de Rock", the new album from EXTREME, sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 78 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD recently entered the UK chart at position No. 80.
The band's first studio album in thirteen years, "Saudades de Rock" (pronounced "sow-dodge") was released in the U.S. on August 12 on Open E Records and distributed by Fontana. The European version of the CD, which came out on August 1, includes a bonus track, the "Americocaine" demo from 1985, the very first studio recording of EXTREME.
The iconic rock foursome — vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, bassist Pat Badger and new drummerKevin Figueiredo — recorded their fifth studio offering at NRG Studios in Los Angeles with Bettencourt at the helm as producer and mixer. "Saudades de Rock" boasts 13 tracks, including the infectious roar of "Star", the groove-laden, swagger of "King Of The Ladies", a raw funk rock anthem called "Learn To Love", and the expressive ballad "Ghost".
"'Saudades' was always a beautiful word to me," Bettencourt explains about the Portuguese album moniker. "It expresses a longing; an underlying sadness for something or someone that's been missing in your life, and never quite sure if it will ever return. In this case, for us, it's rock and roll. Saudades de Rock."
Gary Cherone adds, "I like how it expresses that longing we've been feeling to play for our fans and be together again."
Open E Records is a new label that is distributed by Fontana. A portion of Open E Records' profits will be donated to Music Drives Us, a foundation created as a way to support music in New England. The foundation also gives scholarship money for individuals who desire to continue their musical education.

UK doom legends have been confirmed for the Damnation Festival 2008, set to take place Saturday, November 22 at England's Leeds University. Also newly added are progressive metallers DEVIL SOLD HIS SOUL and THE MIRIMAR DISASTER.
According the organizers, this year's festival has been expanded to a full three-stage, 3,500-capacity event.
Rock Sound magazine will sponsor the third stage with rising post-metal talent SHELS, LATITUDES and doom merchants RAMESSES taking the stage, with more to be announced.

UK gothic metal pioneers PARADISE LOST, who announced that they were canceling their South American tour following the departure of the group's drummerJeff Singer, have issued the following update:
"There is the possibility that PARADISE LOST may still be performing their shows in South America this year. The band are currently doing everything possible to find a replacement drummer in time to play these shows. While nothing is definite at the moment, we will update you with further information as it becomes available."
