Environmentally Friendly Packaging Options
Current mood: busy

We’ve always been an advocate for the use of environmentally friendly products in our DVD and CD manufacturing process.  In fact concern for the environment was how HAVE began in the first place, selling recycled ¾" videotape from a basement office!

We’d love to help you select greener packaging solutions for your upcoming DVD and CD projects, and wanted to just let you know about a couple of options to consider.

A great alternative to standard plastic album packaging are Digipaks® for both DVD and CD programs. Digipaks are becoming more and more popular and can be made from 100% recycled board.  Plus the plastic trays used in Digipaks can now be made from 100%-recycled plastic that is at least 35% post consumer waste!

Another alternative to jewel cases are 100% recycled, environmentally friendly, plastic-free printable board sleeves, jackets, and CD/DVD wallets.  These can be simple 1-disc jackets, all the way up to multi-disc packages for both DVD and CD. Plus recycled board jackets, sleeves, and wallets are lighter and slimmer than traditional packaging that can save on mailing and storage costs…

If you’re interested in finding out more about environmentally friendly packaging solutions for your DVD and CD projects, just give us a call at  1-888-999-4283

Digital Archiving Project for Dharma Communications

HAVE, Inc.'s Digital Archiving Project for Dharma Communications

Our good client, Dharma Communications in Mt. Tremper, NY has chosen HAVE to digitally archive their extensive library of audiocassette programs!

Digital Archiving is the process by which older analog formats of either audio or video master tapes are digitally encoded and stored on hard drive for preservation and for future use as digitally delivered media.  Dharma Communications Audio (DC Audio) has an audio archive that spans twenty-five years, and offers recordings of dharma discourses and retreats by teachers in the Mountains and Rivers Order, talks by eminent scholars, readings of classic texts, and selected music.

We're assisting Dharma by transferring over 2000 Dharma audiocassettes to .wav or .mp3 digital audio files, carefully monitoring both file quality and file naming conventions, and preserving them on stable long life computer hard disc drives.

About Dharma

Dharma Communications is the not-for-profit educational arm of the Mountains and Rivers Order of Zen Buddhism, an organization of associated temples, practice centers, and sitting groups in the United States and abroad. Dharma Communications provides products and services to assist people interested in spiritual practice, particularly those on the path of Zen Buddhism. With their work, they strive to embody the spirit of right livelihood while utilizing modern technologies and long-tested forms of communication. The voluntary effort of lay practitioners, residents of Zen Mountain Monastery and monastics of the Order – the people who are Dharma Communications – is an expression of their dedication to spiritual practice.

Contact us at 1-800-999-4283 toll free, if you'd like more information about how we could help you with archiving either your audio library or video library, or BOTH! Preserve your precious source material and have it ready to be digitally delivered over the web!

Climbing PoeTree

H.A.V.E. continues to enjoy our role in helping artists achieve their unique messages- whispers, shouts and cries- for social and ecological improvement.  Independent artists in particular have been, and are, a catalyst for discussion, exchange and awareness.

One such artist is the dynamic, energetic duo Climbing PoeTree.  We thought we'd write our own short synopsis on PoeTree, but then found their own words, as exceptional poets, to offer the best description.  What follows here is a short except from Climbing PoeTree's website www.climbingpoetree.com.  The website is extensive and inviting, so explore everything it's got to offer!

ART is our WEAPON,
our MEDICINE, our VOICE, our VISION

"Creativity is the antidote for violence and destruction. Art is our most human expression, our voice to communicate our stories, to challenge injustice and the misrepresentations of mainstream media, to expose harsh realities and engender even more powerful hope, a force to bring diverse peoples together, a tool to rebuild our communities, and a weapon to win this struggle for universal liberation."

alixa + naima

WHO IS CLIMBING POETREE?

Depending on who you ask, you might hear about Alixa and Naima as mural painters, rabble rousers, or "exterior" decorators. They are as notorious for their fist-raising performances as they are for their arts-based political education workshops; as recognized for their visual art as they for Fashion Statement, their line of silk-screened clothing. Basically, Alixa and Naima are poets who moonlight as street artists, and infiltrate public schools and prisons with infectious ideas of how people can shape their own destinies.

A tattoo artist from Colombia and a gymnast from the back roads of Massachusetts, their powers combined they are the Heart Beat Soul Sister Artist Warrior duo "Climbing PoeTree".

Climbing PoeTree have blazed stages from Oakland to Atlanta, South Africa to Cuba with artists such as Amiri Baraka, Sonia Sanchez, Nikki Giovanni, Jessica Care Moore, The Last Poets, and Dead Prez. They have led workshops in institutions from Cornell University to Riker's Island. And they have painted murals on walls from the Bronx, to Santiago, to Jamaica. Climbing PoeTree's uses their art to expose injustice, heal from violence, and generate vision to help us all imagine a more just and compassionate world.

September 2007 - HAVE EXHIBITS AT FIRST EVER NEW YORK CAPITAL REGION VEGETARIAN EXPO

Saturday September 15th marked the first ever New York Capital Region Vegetarian Expo, held at the Saratoga City Center in Saratoga Springs NY. Organized by the Albany Vegetarian Network, the Expo's goal is to promote the global health benefits of green sustainable living, environmental awareness, compassion for animals and all beings, and to highlight their relationship to a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. And from our perspective, the Expo achieved their goals and then some, by featuring 7 reknowned speakers, and 79 exhibitors, all well attended.

HAVE participated by exhibiting our complete MultiMedia Services capabilities, highlighting the many DVD and CD programs from Animal Organizations we are honored to support. Like Farm Sanctuary, PETA, Catskill Animal Sanctuary, The Elephant Sanctuary, Elephant Listening Project, ASPCA, Equine Advocates, Society and Animals Forum, and many others. For a more complete list of animal organizations we support, visit our animals page for links to their websites where you can learn more about how to be more involved.

...as always, for duplication quotes, call 518-828-2000 or email dupsales@haveinc.com...
