~The Shewolf~
Current mood: curious
Category: Writing and Poetry

Excerpt taken from: ~The Shewolf~ first printed in Darkend Horizions Halloween Issue copyright 2007 Jennifer L. Miller

The Shewolf lumbered through the great pines. The moon was on the rise. She must hurry to the human. Her paws barely seemed to touch the earth, littered with twigs and pine needles, as she tirelessly ran. The light from the moon lit her path nicely, but it did nothing to conceal her as she made this journey. Fear emitted from her, and she knew her stench would leave a blaring trail for the others to follow.

She thought for a moment, with a twinge of guilt, about her pups. She felt that they would be safe; she hoped that she had hidden them well. The Shewolf hated what she was about to do. She hated that so much misery had befallen her pack, and that evil had somehow seeded and grown within the very souls sworn to protect them.

Had it been so long ago that her pack had been the most revered of all in the forest? Had so much time passed since the fateful night in the glade? The Shewolf's mate was the leader of their pack. He was the biggest and the strongest, and he was to be her mate for eternity. Together the pair had sired a litter of three strapping pups. He had been so proud. It was out of her love for them, her mate and her pups, that she ran now, running to the human.

Now, her mate was nothing more than a monster. The evil in his heart now erasing all of the gentle, caring beast that he had been. Her thoughts returned to the beginning. The pack had just made a kill. The animal had been one of the largest of the hoofed animals of the forest. The ones with the large flat antlers, not the kind with the antlers like branches on a tree. Their kill had seemed tireless and had led the pack much farther from their home than was normal.

After the animal had been brought down, the pack headed for home. They came into a large clearing in the forest. In the center of the glade, lay a pool surrounded by large moss covered rocks. The water shone with a radiant, white light that rivaled the full moon that shone brightly from above. The water beckoned to them, its sweet aroma drifting across the glade into their wet noses. The Shewolf had experienced, perhaps for the first time, a genuine feeling of fear. Thinking back on it now, she knew that the moment the pack had entered the clearing all of their senses had been aroused as never before, and heightened to new levels.

She alone had warned them not to drink, expressing her fear to her mate, but he denied her, and he and his two favorite males had drunk their fill of the tainted, glowing water. The change had not been instantaneous. It happened ever so slowly over the time from that night, until the next full moon. The three wolves became more violent, bloodthirsty, turning even on their own mates and puppies.

When the full moon rose again, the three had disappeared into the night. Out of concern for her mate, her pups, her pack, all that she held dear, The Shewolf had followed them. She ran stealthily behind them with watchful yellow eyes. They meant to kill, and not out of hunger, but for the pleasure of the kill. They wanted blood; they needed blood.

As they ran, it slowly dawned on her where the males were headed. The trees were thinning, and it wasn't long until they came to the road that the humans had built into the forest. They meant to kill humans. This would bring the wrath of the humans, and their terrible weapons down on the wolves of the forest with a vengeance. The Shewolf shivered at the thought of humans searching the forest looking for wolves to mount on their walls.

The Shewolf could not stop them. They were too strong and too many for her alone to fight. She could only watch as the males set upon a man as he walked down the dirt road towards the human settlement. To her surprise, they did not kill him and they did not all attack. Only her mate ran up on the man and he sunk his teeth deeply into the human's fleshy leg, tearing a chunk of meat from the bone and spitting it aside. The man fell to the ground, writhing in agony, and the trio of canines ran on towards the village.

The males did this twice more. One man they caught as he walked not normally down the center lane of the village. The man had been wailing in the way that humans do when they are happy, or celebrating, and the sound grated on The Shewolf's ears. The males did the same to this man as the last. They rushed the drunk, but only one of them bit him, and it had not been her mate that time.

The last man had only stepped out of his dwelling to gather up wood stacked in front of his house. Again, the three wolves attacked with the remaining male biting deeply into the man's flesh. When they were finished, they ran out of the village and back into the forest towards home. It seemed to The Shewolf that the males were just antagonizing the humans. Did they want a war?

If you can answer this, I’ll name a character for you in my Ladies of Horror Story
Current mood: frustrated
Category: Writing and Poetry

When I was in High School, ohhhhhh, fourteen years ago or so...ew. We played this drinking game. I think it was called "One Drunk Duck". The game was played with multiple drinkers. Everyone sat in a circle and the first person started with, "One Drunk Duck" then the next person had to say, "One Drunk Duck, Two Slow Turtles." (or some such nonesense). And the next person had to add three and then four, and y o u  fr ea ki ng g e t  it....anywho, when you screwed up, you had to drink. I NEED THE ORDER OF ANIMALS for this game for my story for LoH.

If any of you remember this, or have a clue what I am talking about and can help me out, I'll name one of the characters after you....

Silly, I know, but hey...I'm a silly girl.

Another Day

Obviously, my children get their imaginations from me. As I was making dinner earlier, my two sons were in their room building their K*NEX Roller Coster (this thing is awesome, look it up). They were pretending, and it started out like a Scooby Doo Mystery with a Mommy twist, disturbing.

They were pretending to work in the amusement park. The rollor coaster kept "mysteriously" changing back after they changed it, or started running while they were no where near the controls. (Hence my refrence to Scooby Doo) Suddenly, Darth Mal comes out of nowhere and proceeds to fight with Anakin ("Wait no! Say he's fighting Sonic the Hedgehog", "No." "What about the bad guy from Labyrinth?" LMAO) Sorry guys, Darth Mal could kill Jareth on a bad day...

I'm proud, smiling in the kitchen thinking, "Oh, my kids are soooo screwed." Over active imaginations are both a blessing and a curse, with emphasis on the latter. What will they do when all those scenarios in their heads are ready to pop out?! Christian already is working on a comic book he wants to sell at school. Poor kid, he's so much like me with his ideas and his schemes. And all I can do is encourage him.

I've been uber busy with kids, school, and Word Weavers, as well as a couple other projects on either side. Ryan and I are doing better than ever. It helps to get all the shit out on the table sometimes, you know?

Okay, so you guys gotta check out my newest project:

Also, check the WW blog for Word Weavers news and such.

I smell my dinner, so I am gonna go eat it.

Two New Publications and other news...
Current mood: cooky/wacky

Wow, what a month. It's been a little crazy for me. Everyone in my house has gotten systematically sick. Hailey and I had it the worst, but Cesaer and Nowee had it pretty bad too. Noah's arm is finally healed (for the most part) and he had his last physical therepy appt. yesterday.

(mine)

Ryan and I went and got tattoos for Valentines day. I know it's a little cheezy, but we did get the same tattoo. Mine is on my left ankle, his is on his right forearm.

(Ryan's)

(Together)

Justin over at Eagle Vail Ink Lounge (E.V.I.L) did them for us, and he put slight differences in them. They freaking ROCK! (And so do you Justin!) Again, I must stress that if you are ever in the Vail area and you are in need of Ink, hit up E.V.I.L. and Justin, you will not regret it!

In other news, I've had two short stories come out in the last week. One is in Darkened Horizons Special Valentine's Day Issue: Till Death Do We Part this book has some fantasic stories and authors, and I am excited to be a part of it. My story in this is "Slither".

http://stores.lulu.com/darkenedhorizons

We also released the Word Weavers Horror Anthology today: Requiem for the Damned. Again, I am so stoked to be in this book. I edited it and a bunch of other stuff. My story in this one is "Wonder Nook", read it, you'll like it.

http://www.lulu.com/content/2088659

And in still more news, my new website is up and running at:

http://www.worldofhinothia.com

Skyler Kanegi over at Vertigo Creations and his team did it up for me. They are very inexpensive and easy to work with. If you need a website created for you, they are the way to go. I highly recommend them for all your website needs.

That's all from me. I'm off like a prom dress. It's FRIDAY!!

Untitled ~ Bowling for Soup

Lately I feel so small,
or maybe it's just that my bed has grown.
I never noticed it before,
but you were there,
so how was I to know?

That this single bed
was always meant for two.
Not just anyone;
It was meant for me and you.

And now your halfway round the world,
and I'm just a day behind.
Nothin' ever seems to fill the hole
that I have since you left my side.
You'll always be my little girl,
though I cant hold you tonight.
And now your halfway round the world,
and I'm just a day behind

I wake up in the night
and I turn around
and find that you're not there.
I just like to watch you sleep.
I lay by you.
I love to feel you near.
I think I'm going crazy.
Everyday confusion starts to grow.
I never noticed it before,
but you were there so how was I to know?

That this single bed
was always meant for two.
Not just anyone;
It was meant for me and you.

And now your halfway round the world,
and I'm just a day behind.
Nothin' ever seems to fill the hole,
that I have since you left my side.
You'll always be my little girl,
though I cant hold you tonight .
And now your halfway round the world,
and I'm just a day behind.

Lately I feel so small.
Maybe its just that my bed has grown.
I never noticed it before,
but you were there,
so how was I to know?

That this single bed
was always meant for two.
Not just anyone;
It was meant for me and you

Now your halfway round the world,

that I have since you left my side.
You'll always be my little girl,
though I cant hold you tonight.
And now your halfway round the world,
and I'm just a day behind.

Just a day behind.

Just a day behind.

Updates and Such
Current mood: blah
Category: Life

So Monday I go back to school. I've got a pretty full load with Biology, American Classical Lit, Intro. to Film Art, and Bowling (Hey, it's a P.E. credit). I am both excieted and a little bummed about going back. My break was not nearly long enough.

I've gotten my car to where it's about fixed. There is a rumor flying around our tiny mountain town that the girl I hit, was not a girl. It seems the reason "she" was gone for 15 min. or so after I hit "her" was because her boyfriend was driving, and he went home to get her and then came back with her driving (and wearing his clothes.) Why? He has no license. It's a rumor though....

Noah is healing okay, he's still in a cast for a few more weeks at least. Everyone else is doing fine. I lost internet connection for about a week, but I'm back now. I'll keep this short. Know that I think about you all.

Song Lyrics for your Heartbreaking Pleasure
Current mood: miserable

Say Goodbye by: Theory of a Dead Man

She said "Don't leave this up to me to say
that I don't love you anyway"
Just leave it up to me to say goodbye
Because these good times will never last
Keep a handle on the wheel and a foot on the gas
We thought it would last forever
I wish you'd just remember

No
Will anything change your mind?
(She said)
A one way ticket was a pretty good sign
(And I said)
Well how can you leave it all?
(And she said)
There ain't much to leave behind
Just say goodbye
So say goodbye
Say goodbye
So say goodbye
Just say goodbye
So say goodbye
Say goodbye

Next time I'll take it slow
And as for you I'll never know
At least next time I'll try to understand
So please don't leave this up to me to say
that you don't love me anyway
I'll just leave it up to you to say goodbye
'Cause these good times will never last
Keep a handle on the wheel and a foot on the gas
We thought it would last forever
In case you don't remember

No
Will anything change your mind?
(She said)
A one way ticket was a pretty good sign
(And I said)
Well how can you leave it all?
(And she said)
There ain't much to leave behind
Just say goodbye
So say goodbye
Say goodbye
So say goodbye
Just say goodbye
So say goodbye
Say goodbye

Just say goodbye
Just say goodbye
Just say goodbye

Well, these good times will never last
Keep a handle on the wheel and your foot on the gas
We thought it would last forever
In case you can't remember

No
Will anything change your mind?
(She said)
A one way ticket was a pretty good sign
(And I said)
No
(And she said)
No
(And I said)
No
(And she said)
No

Just say goodbye
So say goodbye
Say goodbye
So say goodbye
Just say goodbye
So say goodbye
Say goodbye

Car Accident
Category: Life

So I went to take Noah to get his below the elbow cast today. When we got there they cut the above the elbow off and then took some x-rays.His arm has barely healed at all, so they put him in another above the elbow. He was so bummed out, he refused to pick a color for a while. He was better after I took him back to the fire station so the fire guys could sign the new one too. He'll go back on the 7th to try for the above the elbow.

We got home and were heading out to get Cesaer and my ex called. (He had Hailey for the day) and asked me to drop him off a few smokes.

I turned the block and headed back to his house. I stopped at a stop sign. I thought I looked both ways, but appearently not. I pulled out and smashed right into the side of a Silver PT Cruiser that was going so fast (in a 25) that she knocked my car around 1 1/2 times.

I somehow hit my knee on the steering column and Noah was slammed into the door. The PT never even applied the breaks. I pulled the car off the road and watched as it went three more blocks and turned.

Then I called the cops. They showed up and THEN the PT pulled back up! Unbelieveable. So, we were there an hour sorting it all out. I got a ticket for failure to yield. Puh. I go to court on my Birthday. Good Times. My front end is majorly fucked up. I don't think it's fixable. We'll see. Looks like Jenna gets a new old car.

We went to the hospital and spent an hour there. Noah and I both have "pulled muscles" x-rays show no damage to either of our bones. But DAMN my knee hurts like a bitch. So, to make this story short. I won't be on for a day or so, not here, not WW. The polls go to Friday anyway.

If you haven't yet, please go vote, it's a good cause and I don't nessisarily want you to vote for me. There are some very wonderful Word Weavers on that poll, and each one deserves to win! http://www.myspace.com/weaversofwords You don't have to be a member to vote.

So..~hugs~ where they go. Talk at you later.

So Much Going On
Category: Life

Hi all! I finally have a few minutes to myself, literally. The boys are at their Dad's until tomorrow evening. Hailey is watching "The Fox and The Hound" (again) Ryan is at his house. I took him to work this morning and won't see him again until Friday. My Mom is spending the night with her Man, and I am home with Hailey, who is as I said, occupied.

So, I thought I'd have a coffee and blog a little. I spent the morning setting up the nominee blurbs and the voting for the Word Weaver of the Year Award at Word Weavers. If you haven't yet, please go vote, it's a good cause and don't nessisarily vote for me. There are some very wonderful Word Weavers on that poll, and each one deserves to win! http://www.myspace.com/weaversofwords You don't have to be a member to vote.

I'm giving away .pdfs of "Shugaan" today and tomorrow (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) You must message me with why you want a copy, and you must do something helpful for someone less fortunate than yourself. You also must give me feedback. How else will I get better?

With all that out of the way, I want to wish each and every one of you a safe and happy holiday season. Don't eat too much, give much, laugh lots, and watch the egg nog!

~Hugs~

Happy Hollidays!!
Current mood: thoughtful
Category: Life

That is first and foremost on my agenda, to wish all of you a very merry, happy as hell holiday season!

Second, school's out for Christmas!! Woot Woot!! I have sooooo much to get done in the month I have off. WW Anthologies, writing/reading for friends, relaxing...you get it.

Noah broke his arm two weeks ago. He fell off the balance beam at school and landed on his elbow. The force of the impact traveled up his arm to a weaker spot and broke both the bones in his forearm just below the elbow. Fun times...

This is about how it looks on the x-ray, I of course photoshopped this one.  Anyway, after surgery and setting scares, they finally decided to just cast it with an above the elbow cast until the day after Christmas, then they want to put him in a below the elbow cast. Heh. He's a trooper though, he only cried for a bit, and he's been very tolerant of my over-mothering of late.

I have nearly all my Christmas shopping done, and I only stressed about it a tiny bit! Yay, Jenna! Ryan and I are doing good. If it's possible, we're talking even more than usual, which is good. I still have some worries and doubts, but it's working very well right now, and that is all I can ask for.

I am certainly looking forward to having the next month off. If I didn't comment you in my last barrage of comments, I'll try to get to you the next time around. I miss chatting with my friends. I hate it when I get so busy that I am afraid to turn on my IM's!! LOL

We've gotten a TON of snow in the last couple weeks. It kind of sucks, but we need it. We got lucky with a loonnnggg summer, so I guess I can't bitch too much about it. Alright, I'm out. Take care of you!
