KUOW Interview with Hollow Earth Friday Feb 29th 2:06pm

Garrett and I, founders of Hollow Earth, are releasing an album "Analog America: A Four Course Meal of Found Sound" on the noise | order label March 11th. We are celebrating by hosting "Cabinet of Found Curiosities," an art show & cd release party at Windows Art Gallery (Dearborn Show venue - 42nd/Woodland Ave N.) on March 7th during the Fremont Friday Art Walk.

KUOW, 94.9, our local public radio, interviewed Amber about our curious found sound hobby. This 13 minute story will be aired on Friday, Feb 29th at precisely 2:06pm for one of their Sound Focus stories! Tune in to hear a few sample tracks and hear me try to explain why the hell we do this sort of thing. It might be archived on their website after the fact, but I am not sure about that. Go to here to see the archives of this show. To find out more about this art show and other events during our first ever Hollow Earth Magma Festival, go to www.hollowearthradio.com.

Hollow Earth Magma Festival! Buy a Magma Pass!

Hollow Earth Radio is hosting Magma Festival in March, a month's worth of live musical performances at diy venues around town, a found art show with a cd release of found sound, and a live in-person radio play!

We have been around for more than a year now, and we'd like to celebrate with the community. We hope to raise funds during this Festival to keep HER sustained throughout the year and beyond.

Check out the Hollow Earth Magma schedule of events here. Consider buying a $30 Magma Pass to attend all Magma Festival Events.

This is a really great deal, and you'll feel good purchasing a pass to support the coolest online community radio in the Northwest! If you don't live in the area, consider making a donation to support Hollow Earth Radio programming. Thanks for listening and for being a part of our community.

DJ SHIFTS! SIGN UP YO!!!

::::::::::::::::::::::::::How To Be a DJ w/ Hollow Earth Radio::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Current DJ SHIFT TIMES STARTING IN JUNE:
Shifts can occur within these times. Email us if you are interested. Our gmail is: hollowearthradio

*Monday: 8pm-11pm

*Tuesday: 12pm-8pm

9pm-12am

*Thursday: 12pm-7pm
9pm-12am

*Friday/Saturday/Sunday are available as well, so inquire about
specific times, and we'll work it out on a case by case basis. Orientation dates are TBA.

DJ Shifts are three hours long. The first hour is for organizing, and the other two hours will be Djing On Air, yo! We support free-form radio where Djs play what they want and say what they want (except, we don't support discrimination of any kind). Remember that we are not a Professional radio station—and we don't care to be, so feel free to be yourself. It might also be helpful to read over our mission and vision of Hollow Earth Radio to understand our basis for starting this project.

Go here to read about it!

We are looking for WEEKLY DJs, TWICE A MONTH DJs, and GUEST DJs who come once or every once in awhile. If you are interested in becoming a regular DJ, it would be rad to make a 3-month commitment. We'd of course make exceptions, but we are looking for longer-term volunteer DJs.

Organizing:
The first hour, DJs can organize a two-hour playlist of music for your shift. We encourage you to bring your own music to upload onto our database. It would be best to burn a c.d. (if possible) of specific songs from your collection before coming to your shift so the uploading process takes up less time. DJs may also choose from our database of music and from our albums not yet uploaded.

You are welcome to create your own THEME to your DJ shift like D.C. Punk Hour, Freak Folk, Krautrock Rules, What I heard On Myspace this Week, etc. Just talk to us about what you are thinking, and we'll support what you are putting together.

Please! Please! Please! If it fits within your theme, insert found sound, answering machine tape messages, voice mail messages, field recordings, dreams, etc!! We hope to keep this an emphasis at Hollow Earth Radio. If you have found sound or field recordings that you'd like to share with us, please bring it in and upload!! We have an entire library of this in our database for you to use if you are interested.

Using the Computer and Database to create playlists, dj and review albums during your shift

We will create the instructions for this, and thoroughly train you during your orientation. We'll have the instructions handy at the station for you to refer to when Djing if you have questions.

Album Reviewing
Also, during your shift, we'd love to have albums reviewed. We always have a stack of 'em ready to be reviewed and uploaded to our database.

YAY FOR BEING A DJ!!! EMAIL US! LET US KNOW SOON! SHIFTS START IN JUNE!! YOU ROCK!

Subscribe to Our Mailing List

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for your interest in Hollow Earth Radio. We'd like to suggest getting added to our mailing list. We would really like to move most of our communication off of myspace, as we are constantly frustrated with how things are run here.

We have a hollow earth radiooooo website where we make regular blog posts with pictures, video & sound clips, and post our daily schedule, so check that out as well.

If you sign up for our mailing list, we will send out regular newsletters and schedules of upcoming radio shows. We will also let all the local people know about our (almost) monthly H.E.R. meeting so you can get involved! We are preparing to have a Hollow Earth Radio House, so hopefully, you will have a physical space in which to DJ, hear live shows, and get involved! Stay tuned.

So, the best way to keep updated on the goings-on at HER is to get on that good 'ole mailing list!

Thanks a million. We love you! Thanks for listening!

Hollow Earthers.

Yay! For Signing Up For Hollow Earth Radio Mailing List! You Rock Our Socks Off!

Call us with your DREAMS & BAND TOUR STORIES & leave us SOUNDS

Band Tour Stories:
Call our number to tell us your surreal, horror, crazy, interesting, "needed to be told" band tour stories.

Dreams:
Call us to tell us your really weird dream that you had last night, especially if you dreamt about draco-reptilians. Anything goes...

Sounds:
Send us your sounds. You can use sounds from your environment, sounds of music created by you or by friends or by strangers, sounds of your evening or of your morning, sounds you love or sounds that irk you, sounds at work or sounds at home, sounds outside or inside, sound you..ve recorded, and the possibilities are endless. (And for the record, sounds are definitely not limited to music.) Be our sound friend; come on, you know you want to do it!

We might air these on our radio. When you call, leave us a message with your (band) name, phone number (in case we want to follow up), and your story or dream or sounds.

You could also choose to be anonymous if you'd prefer.

Our number is 206-905-1250. You can also add us on Skype and leave a message that way - our user name is hollowearthradio
