+Clive Barker Needs Your Help!+
Current mood: hopeful
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

"Midnight Meat Train" PETITION from MySpace

 From The Official MySpace:

www.myspace.com/390140673

"Midnight Meat Train", the highly anticipated new release from the Master of Horror, Clive Barker, is currently being released August 1st, 2008 in only 100 theaters. This horrible miscarriage of Mr. Barker's creative genius can only be avoided by making it clear to the confused souls at Lionsgate that horror fans have been waiting a very long time to once again see Clive's magnificent work on the big screen.

To join us in demanding a wider release of this masterpiece, just copy and paste the letter below into an email and send it to:

1) investor relations at Lionsgate: keasterling@lionsgate.com
2) Lionsgate: general-inquiries@lionsgate.com

Dear Lionsgate,

As a long time Clive Barker fan, I am writing you to express my strong desire to see "The Midnight Meat Train" on the big screen. Rumors are currently circulating that the film will only be released on a limited basis and I am very concerned that I will miss my opportunity to see the most highly anticipated Clive Barker film in over a decade in all of its big screen glory!

There are millions of horror fans like myself who have been disappointed by the recent trend towards watered down PG-13 horror movies.? Clive's work represents a return to serious, thought provoking horror movies and with Ryuhei Kitamura at the helm, I am even more excited to experience this collaboration as it was intended: in a packed theater with hundreds of other horror fans like myself!

I urge you to please give this film the release it deserves!

Many thanks,

+"A Nightmare on Elm Street" Remake...WITHOUT ROBERT ENGLUND?!? - Sign This Petition!+
Current mood: annoyed

WHAT are these people thinking? HOW could there be "A Nightmare on Elm Street" without Robert Englund?

It makes no sense. Sign this petition and let the film company know that we’re not interested in a remake unless Mr. Englung is involved.

+Blog-O-Rama Birtday Bash Contest!+

I'm reposting this contest information that Fran wrote up, from the Blog-O-Rama blog! Please read below and follow the instructions to enter. It's simple and we're giving away some great loot!

A Momentary Obsession

First, let me apologize for my obsession with Halloween cake pics.  I didn't know I had this obsession until I started looking for just the right pic for this blog, and discovered the wonderful world of Halloween cake decorating.  Yeah, I know, I'm strange, but completely harmless unless you have a cake phobia.  You don't, do you?  Good heavens, is that your tongue swelling out of your mouth??  But I digress.

In the Beginning
By sheer coincidence, the Horror Library started blogging two years ago on Halloween.  Chris "the Chrispy One" Perridas was struck with the inspiration for us to dive into the blogoshere and I foolishly took his challenge and built our first little blog at Blogger.  We amassed a team and the HL Blog-O-Rama was born on Halloween morning and has been spreading our dark cheer into cyberspace ever since.

During those same two years, the Horror Library members have been busy with other projects, as well.  The great and powerful Oz behind the curtain at Cutting Block Press, is the talented and oh so fetching, Mr. Boyd Harris.  Along with our illustrious founder, RJ Cavender, Cutting Block has published four faboo anthologies - two with short stories, Horror Library Vol. 1 and Vol. 2; and two with novellas, Butcher Shop Quartet and Tattered Souls.

The Cutting Block Press books have received some fine reviews, and recently, Horror Library Vol. 2 has joined the race for a Stoker nomination.  You'll find a couple of excellent reviews at the following links:

Skullring: Review of Horror Library Volume 1
Skullring: An Anthology Worth of a Stoker Nomination

The Perfect Marriage
Why, you might ask, should you join us to celebrate the perfect marriage of the Blog-O-Rama's birthday and Halloween?  Loot...prizes...wining stuff, that's why!  Yup, it's time high time for a contest, and I've come out of my blogging hiatus just so I can bring it to you!

So here's the deal, it's easy!  Just CLICK HERE to subscribe to the HL Blog-O-Rama blog at MySpace.  That's it!  It's that easy, and if you're already subscribed, you're set!

On November 14 the winners will be announced from a random drawing of all the names in the HLBOR subscriber list.

The Loot:
Grand Prize:
A Collection of ALL Four Cutting Block Press Books
That's Horror Library Vol. 1 and 2, Butchershop Quartet and Tattered Souls!
Winner 2:
A Copy of Horror Library Vol. 1
Winner 3:
A Copy of Tattered Souls
Winner 4:
A Copy of Butchershop Quartet

And you KNOW if I'm doing a contest, there will always be a BONUS:
Win a copy of Horror Library Vol 2 AND a $10 gift certificate to the Horror Mall, the brand spanking new store from the horror publishing powerhouses, Bloodletting Books and Delirium Books.

To win:
1. Post the contest info OR a prominent link for the contest in your own blog.
2. Post a comment here with a link to your contest blog post.

3. A winner will be chosen randomly from all the bloggers who shared the contest info.

That's it, kids.  Now get subscribing, blogging and winning and have a very Happy Halloween!

Wickedly Yours,
Fran Friel

+I was on The Howard Stern Show this morning!+
Current mood: confused
Category: Movies, TV, Celebrities

Anyone listen to this morning's show?

Well, I now have a new nickname...R.J. "The Snorer".

I'd called the show with a little piece of trivia as soon as they were on the air (3am PST/6am Eastern) and I was on hold the ENTIRE DURATION of the show.

So, when they cut to me, 8am my time...in the last 1/2 hour of the show, I was fast asleep and snoring so loudly that they had to keep me on. They proceeded to joke on me for a half-hour.

I woke up at some point and started speaking gibberish, until I finally realized what was going on and then cleared up a little bit. I have to wait for the replay today to know exactly what all happened, but from what friends are telling me...I was definitely having a weird bout of talking in my sleep.

I got a call-back a half-hour later, and they're going to have me on "The Superfan Roundtable" on Thursday. Jason, the producer of "Roundtable", thought it'd be funny to have a fan of the show on that missed his 'big opportunity' to talk to Howard...by sleeping through it.

Coolest thing was, after all these years of loving the show...that just by the simple act of passing out on the phone, I was able to make Howard laugh. He even snorted a few times, I'm told.

I don't mind making an ass out of myself in the name of comedic gold. It's too late to be worried about that anyway, I guess.

I officially cannot be embarrassed by anything now.

+FRANKENF*CK+ (A Spoken Word Piece)

Frankenf*ck
By R.J. Cavender

Just getting a piece. A piece of ass. Some piece of mind.
A taste. A touch. A feel. A fuck. Just another Friday night.

Smoky interior. Some small dirty bar. Anytown, USA.
Another girl, another night. Another chance to make things right.

The perfect woman waits at home.
But, it doesn't keep me from coming here. I know these places well.
Bad music. Bad lighting. Bad people. Bad decisions. I never leave alone.

Just getting a piece.
Faded from the chemical stink of one too many nights spinning my mind.
The sticky smell of drug-laced sweat.
The sweet perfume of unfamiliar genitalia and warm, freshly spilt blood.

I've got the perfect woman at home.
It doesn't keep me from my playtime, though.
She's always there when I return.
She doesn't say a word. I don't know if she ever will.

The whole is often more than the sum of its parts.
The proof is in the pudding.
Puzzles are distractions , always with that one last missing piece.
It gives us something to search for.

Always searching.
Always waiting.
Always wanting.
Always taking.
With forever and a lifetime to go.

She's waiting for me at home.

Every girl I fuck has the same face.
Not one, but many more. Slamming and grinding on some dirty floor.
With some indiscriminate whore.
I try not to look. I can't look away.
Each time the faces always change.
First she's a blonde, then brunette, then a redhead.
Short hair, long hair. Small. Medium. Large.

I have been inside girls of every variation.

Just a collection at first.

It grew.

Unknown to me, what it was forming into.

Just a piece of ass.
Keeping an eye out. A find. A feel. A fuck. Then forget.
Keeping a leg up. A shoulder to cry on.
An ear to bend. Eyes on the prize.
Two left feet.

People live and people die. Some heal. Others kill, and that's just a simple fact.
Some are made to follow blindly. Some people are just built to react.
Don't you wish you could take your favorite parts from your favorite people, and simply start from scratch?

I've got the perfect woman at home.
She doesn't say a word.
She just sits in a corner where I've propped her up and stares at the world through milky white eyes.
She's gorgeous, even with all of her stitches and bruised skin.

She'll speak my name soon.

Cry out in pain, too.

Her mouth will open. She'll breathe in.

I've got the perfect woman at home.

She's almost done.
