We are honored and thrilled to win (two years in a row) Westword's Best Indie Pop Band award.
Thanks for all who voted! And we said this in our "acceptance speech" but bears repeating:
This band started in a warehouse. Don't forget about the bands that are working hard and aren't always covered in the press, talked about at parties, and on blogs. Get out there and see some new unheard-of bands. You'll be pleasantly surprised and the music scene thrives.
Best Indie Pop Band - Westword 2007
Current mood: cheerful
Indie Pop. Indie Rock. Indie-an food. Yum.
We were just named Best Indie Pop band in Colorado by the Westword and the public. We're beaming…oh wait. That glow is just from living next to the ol' power plant. But it's also a glow of thanks. Thanks to the Westword, Radio 1190, and a slew of other local businesses and cool people that support local independent music.
Most of all thanks to our smarter-than-average fans for voting for us!
i just wanted to thank everyone for their love and sweetness…the outpouring of support from my friends, and friends I have yet to meet has been incredible, and surprising…this has been a melancholy, frustrating, bewildering, emotionally draining, heartbreaking, and trying last couple of weeks…
in addition, i would like to also thank eli and bryan, and everyone who expected to see us at sxsw for being so understanding…i feel terrible about missing the festival this year, but it was necessary…by spending time with my family, and reading all the kind messages and posts from everyone, i have been able to cope with the sudden loss of my father…
well, my dad only saw us play once, and although I don't think we were his quite his cup of tea (his favorite band was gerry and the pacemakers, i am not kidding), he appeared to have enjoyed the set…i hadn't seen him in a while, and apparently, he had grown a mustache for the event…it was slightly embarrassing and nostalgic for me as well because the last time he had a mustache was when I was around 5 years old…mustaches are a little weird and pretty funny, but so was my dad…he was wonderfully weird and possessed an amazing sense of humor that I will miss dearly...i love him, mustache and all…
thank you all again, and thank you for reading thus far!
It is with a heavy heart that we must cancel our performances at this year's SXSW. Elaine's father unexpectedly passed away over the weekend. Needless to say, it is much more important for her to be with her family than with the band at this moment.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with Elaine and her loved ones.

It's called groundswell, Denver. And yes, the local music scene is enjoying itself. Saturday's excellent all-local bill at the Bluebird sold out thanks to Hot IQs, Mr. Pacman, Cowboy Curse, Lion Sized and fans who recognize the immense talent.
Headlining the show, Hot IQs managed their set with equal parts pop confidence and rock 'n' roll swagger. Especially apparent in the excellent new single "Follow the Architecture," singer Eli Mishkin is an assault of rock exuberance. The song has emerged as the band's most exciting live track - thanks, in part, to Mishkin's song-ending yelp about geometry, teeth marks and right angles. And if that's not rock 'n' roll ... | Ricardo Baca
