Greenville College Task Force Group [School’s Colors]
Current mood: pleased
Category: Quiz/Survey
I was sent an e-mail the other day for help with a school project about colors. So I wrote them back my thoughts....and here's what they wrote me back.
Thank you so much for your response. We all got a kick out of reading the extra comments in the email! I came across your website by doing an old-fashioned Google Search of "Marketing firms in St. Louis." Your firm stood out to us because the website was clean and easy to navigate, and it was easy for us to see your 'mission statement' so to speak. The selling point?
"Communication. We create visual communications, and we do that by interacting and building long-term relationships with our clients. At Humhaus Studios our designers work directly with the client, helping us assist you in your marketing and advertising efforts." This was exactly what we were looking for in terms of this project. Also, it was hard to find another marketing and design firm in the area that seemed friendly enough to respond to our questions. The demeanor of your website looked friendly and inviting, as the others didn't give that feeling.
Thank you again for your helpful comments and suggestions. If the administration decides to do something with this after we present, Humhaus will definitely be the firm that we recommend.

Can the wheel be reinvented? Can one truly step outside the box? Is anything ever really new? Sometimes I'll find inspiration in movies... for creativity...
I'm always fascinated by art that defys the old motto of "well thats because thats the way its always been done" (like; Ad Angencies that are stuck in the 1950s print era, hollywood, the music industry)
Unfortunately; today, the only way art reaches the masses (the sheep) is thru our consumerism, when was the last time someone went to the Art Museum, a Gallery, the Theater, or even read a Book. Kinda Sad.
Which would make me today's Modern Artist.... (unlike, all those kids in college who took underwater basket weaving or some FooFoo Fine Art Program)
During some Cold Calling Marketing awhiles back - I had some gentleman in the Olive - Asian District try to Barter a Sword for a mini-brochure website... WTF, am I going to do with a sword.... so later I was like I gotta see Kill Bill again....
Take a blender and mix: 1/3 Japanese samurai movies, 1/3 Italian spaghetti westerns, 1/3 Hong Kong martial arts movies, sprinkle a little hip-hop/electronic and over-the-top violence ... and you got Samurai Champloo (Anime) & Kill Bill (Quentin Tarantino Movie)
Samurai Champloo (kinda the disney version of Kill Bill)
Crazy 88's intro - I'm so getting a Hattori Hanz-- Sword. Tresspassers beware!
This video may not be suitable for minors and just about everyone else. If you couldn't stomach Gladiator - This probly isn't for you... Japanese Release of the best sword fight of all time... full color (US Release in B&W)

I was working on a side project off of the server - and my friend was like, "you got 94 unique visits yesterday"... I was like "huh"... he was right.
It baffles me, that on any given day - I have 61 Visits.... even if a 1/3 or 1/2 are bots, thats still at least 31 new people come to my site a day. It's crazy that the stats can break it down into IP adressess, what search engine, keywords and country did the request originate from....

My Grandma passed away this past week... She was 97. The first time - the passing of someone close to me. She was born in 1911 and witnessed the modern world change. Some of my best childhood memories are from over at her house.
She's going to be buried in Windsor this Spring with Wendell.
Last weekend - I had this horrible feeling of dread or something was just wrong... nothing specific, just a vibe... I saw that my sister called me early in the morning - and I just knew. My little sister, called me again - she was somewhere waiting for a in-between flight back from a conference. I talked to her on the way to work, was just kinda in shock... like she was going to live forever...
How do you mourn someone? ... I decided to get her Lilies. She liked Lilies. At Schnucks on my way in to get her flowers, an older Black Lady (someone's Grandma) stopped me in the parking lot, she seemed desperate... She had a bent up key and couldn't start her car... she was trying to bend it with a shoe... I have a nice little Steel Bar, I carry in my car, that I bent her key back with on the asphalt.
On my way, I was drawn to my Grandma's old house, so I drove by her house for the first time, since I last visited her then when she still lived there... it looked real nice, all painted new, like in my memories - just not that um, shade of green she chose.... it was bluish. Since it was fenced in - leaving the flowers in her old backyard - turned into not such a good idea ; p
I drove up the street to the Cannon from WWII on her street - We'd eat PBJ's for lunch and walk to the cannon. So I left some of the Lilies there. She loved to walk. I think that was her secret to longevity... She also made the best homemade Lemonade I ever had... it never quite turns out the same
Grandma, loved to drive. Sometimes - we'd just go out - and go nowhere.... just drive around... When she drove when I was little, she loved the side streets and short cuts, so I drove around Maplewood... Couldn't quite navigate the old routes.... but I did find the Park... eventually.
I went to the Park she took us to, during the Summers, when she'd babysit us. There was a Ventures across the street years ago.... Of course the Park had been updated, but the stuff was still where it was years ago... just newer. The MCD's on the street over was still there.... The Old Tree in the ball fields was there - so I left some Lilies there....

Dear Friends of Humhaus,
Thanks for all your support. You know who you are! Things are finally picking up. Like most true artists fate - its Feast or Famine. One can't really play the Blues, without going thru it... kinda fake. This time - I'll stockpile it away.
On a side note, we're one of the last of the independent start-ups left in the Saint Louis area of about 50. There were about 100 design studios listed in St. Louis when we started.... now just the big boys and a few start-up survivors...
NEW & RETURN CLIENTS: Billionairrrr Girls Club, Entreconcepts, EnviroMarx, Regeneration and Saint Louis Group, Inc. (...it's always a good sign when they keep coming back...)
We're currently gearing up to work with Billionairrrr Girls Club (BGC) a woman's empowerment organization on their new cartoon series. Being Independent, allows me actually to work on projects that have an impact on people's lives, instead of the ugly greedy american corporation model - where profit is god.
After 2 years of searching... We've finally teamed up with a programmer - that gets it. James Shockley can improvise code like crazy!!
Now maybe the morons from "India" and "recruiting firms" will stop calling. PLEASE! Why would we send "work" to the 2 "places" that had an impact on destroying the .com boom... idiots. What has Globalization, really given us? ...um shitty products that last 2 years with contaminated materials... I'm still waiting for someone, anyone to explain to me why Globalization is a good thing, and how we've benefitted as a country?
