Whisper to Me (a poem)
Current mood: horny
Category: Writing and Poetry

Whisper to Me

Whisper to me my darling
Watch the candles' flames dance
They too are held in your sway
Under your power as I am
Melting beneath your heated breath

Whisper to me my dear
Push the window's curtains aside
Command them to part and reveal the view
Just as you have taken command of my heart
And parted it from my chest to yours

Whisper to me my lover
Take a hold of my flesh and feel my sweat
Feel the bumps of anticipation you raised
When you raised my soul from the dead

Jesus To Your Judas (a poem)

You pathetic piece of shit
You crawl back here on your belly
And for what?
For my forgiveness?
I'll not play Jesus to your Judas
But I'll let you play Jesus, if you like
Go on ahead and hop up on that tree
I'll play the Roman guards
I'll get the nails

Memory (a poem)
Current mood: nostalgic
Category: Writing and Poetry

My skin crawls with anticipation
Enduring another night without you is too much
Must I suffer on forever like this?
Over and over I moan your name
Reveling in the motion that is to come
You have promised you will be back soon.

Fallen Tree
Current mood: apathetic
Category: Writing and Poetry

Michelle had told Tommy countless times that summer that the old tree in the back needed to come down. He'd of course ignored her. She was just a woman; an occasional store clerk and housewife. What did she know about lawn and tree maintenance? Those thing were men's work. And when the hurricane season and three tropical storms had seen it not uprooted he'd taken reassurance that he was right on the matter.

With the start of November came the holiday madness. There were family dinners to be planned and presents to be wrapped. Michelle didn't have much free time to nag at him about trees, but it didn't take her too long after the gifts were opened to start back up.

By mid-January winter had the whole eastern seaborne in it's deathly embrace. There was very little work to be found as an asphalt finisher even in the busy season and next to none to be found during the cold months. Good thing Michelle had landed the checkout girl job down at the grocery store. Between her pay check, employ's discount, and Tommy's unemployment their bills were being paid and he most weeks had enough left over to buy his beer. On the weeks he didn't… well let's just say the grocery store's security cameras weren't link to their registers and Michelle did her own bagging.

She'd bitched and moaned about it at first. She'd been afraid of what the story manager, Mr. Carson, would do if he caught her husband stealing beer and her letting him, but she was in the end more afraid of Tommy then her boss. She'd lost her last job after laying out of work for a week after he'd blacked both of her eyes. But she knew better then to start up with him about how much time he spent fishing when he'd only just gotten back from a rained out pound. Besides, who'd ever heard of someone doing hard time over some lifted beer.

The first week of February had seen the appearance of hearts and pink streamers down the beer and wine aisle, what everyone surely hoped would be the last snow of the winter, and no money in Tommy's pocket.

Beer in hand he settled down by the radio in his work shed. For some reason he'd never liked to do his drinking inside and the shed had four sturdy walls and a small space heater.

An hour or so later, he was seven or maybe eight bottles in when he heard Michelle's car came tearing up the driveway. Judging from the slam of the door she'd had a hard shift. Good thing he'd lifted the thirty-six pack and gotten started on it early.

"Damn it Tommy!" she sounded as mad as her car door and twice as close. Michelle knew he didn't like to be bothered when he was 'working' in his shed and she also knew that was always where she could find him.

"What is it dear?" He hadn't even tried to mask the insincerity in his voice, but he did rise up from his chair to open the door for her. That's what women liked for their men to do, wasn't it?

She didn't come inside the shed, but rather stood back a few feet from the door and took back up her shouting; no doubt so that the neighbors could hear, "Mr. Carson called me into his office after you'd left!"

He shrugged.

"Don't you even care why?"

"I suppose I do care," he took another swig of the beer, "But I ain't no mind reader, woman. So, either tell me what you got to tell me or go on and git."

In a swift fluid movement she lunged forward and snatched the bottle from his hand. He was so buzzed it was easier then taking candy from a sleeping child, "he saw you taking this beer without paying!" She slung the bottle down onto the snow covered ground between them. A brown puddle of half melted snow marked it's landing. "He saw you on the security cameras and he called me into his office and he fired me! He could have called the cops on us!"

"But he didn't!" This was as much a question as an observation.

"Only because I promised neither of us would every show our faces up there again!"

"All the more reason not to be spilling my beer all over the place. Unless you're wanting to drive across town to the Food Lion to get me so more."

"With what money, Tommy! You ain't worked in months and as I just told you I've been fired!"

"Don't worry about money. My check will be here tomorrow… and you'll find another job… a better job!"

"You really don't get it, do you? You don't see what you're doing to our lives, do you?"

"No, I reckon I don't," with that he stepped back into the shed and slammed the door behind him, "and I don't care to see!"

The day long snow flurry had started to grow heavy on her drive home and the wind was picking up to a bone chilling level. Michelle knew there'd be nothing but further displays of anger and a chest cold to be gained from staying outside and going another round with him. So, instead of pressing him further she turned her back on the shed and started back up towards the house.

She was halfway there when she heard a loud popping noise behind her. She turned back just in time to see the top of the old tree crashing down upon it's brothers. She thought as she watched it fall; if it had fell just a little more to the left it would have taken out both the shed and Tommy. This just wasn't her lucky day.

Scribbles Elevation
Current mood: excited
Category: Web, HTML, Tech

I was honored a few days ago by being asked to take on the responsibility of helping to moderate the Scribbles writers forums. More specifically I was asked to become moderator of the three poetry forums.

Scribbles is a new site, but already there is a lot going on and I've been privileged to meet and rub elbows with some wonder writers and poets. I'm very excited to be a small part of it all.

I'd very much like to see as many of my friends and fellow writers there as possible and hope everyone reading this will click on over and join in on the fun.
